I had absolutely no idea what was going on but whatever it was it scared the crap out of my mom. A few hours ago we had been eating dinner and laughing like a normal family. I wasn’t One Direction’s Liam Payne; I was just my parents Liam, their Little Paynee.
But at that moment I would’ve given anything to be the famous Liam Payne surrounded by security. My parents and I had been talking about how things had been going on when the chaos started. My mom and I ran up the stairs to wake my visiting cousins the minute we heard gunshots.
“(y/n), (y-bf-n) WAKE UP!!!! Wake up NOW!!!”
Wearily they moaned, sat up slowly, and rubbed their eyes asking, “What?! What time is it?”
Ignoring their question my mom turned to me and told me to gather some clothes. I did so without arguing. Running to my room I quickly grabbed my unpacked bag and began throwing things out, to make room for my cousins stuff.Satisfied I headed toward the door but froze. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a figure.Turning slowly I faced the stranger and exhaled. It was only that stinkin’ life size cut out of me. Man! I fell for that darn thing every, single, time. I shook my head and ran back to my waiting cousins and mom.
While I had been gone, my cousins had gathered a few belongings and together we stuffed them into my bag. After we finished, the four of us ran down the stairs and into the garage. Unlocking the car, I opened the door and ushered my cousins into the back seat, then climbed into the front. My mom handed me the keys, Loki (my puppy) and told me to drive. “But…What about you?”
“Your father and I will be fine. Just go Liam.” She said with tears rolling down her cheeks, ”Go, protect your cousins and get them home.”
“Mom. I’M. NOT. LEAVING. YOU!!’’ I said getting out of the car. But she shoved me back into it and demanded that I go. Reluctantly I started the car and began backing out of the driveway. My mom then called out,
“Liam! Remember if…if I don’t make it…I love you!!”
My eyes welled with tears and I called back, “I love you to mom!!” and with that I drove slowly out of the driveway, with tears rolling down my cheeks. My cousins were sobbing in the back, and then (insert your best friend's name here) asked, "L-Liam, what's going on? Will we ever see them again?" I longed to say yes, that everything would be okay, but I couldn't bring myself to say it. It was a lie, and I couldn't bring myself to lie to them. Unfortunately, she took my silence as a no, and cried even harder. That broke my heart and I said, "(y-bff-n) I don't know when we'll see them again. But I promise you somehow, someday, we will see them again."
Sniffling she said,"I hope you're right Liam. I really hope that."
We drove in silence for the next few minutes, pondering what would now. My hands ached to turn us around and get my parents dead or alive; preferably alive, but I knew I couldn't. Then out of nowhere a bullet burst through the window and missed me by millimeters. My cousins screamed and yelled at them, "Get down (y/n), and (y-bff's-n)!! Do you hear me?!? Get down and don't get up. No matter what!!"
Nodding they did as they were told and covered their heads with their hands. I stomped on the gas, ignoring the law. At that moment my cousins safety was more important to me than any law. I drove like there was no tomorrow, (which could very well happen). I had to get them home! I just had to....no matter what.
