These Chapters of Our Lives ~ COMPLETED

Elizabeth Reid

As the days drew nearer to the red carpet premiere – I just can’t get over saying that ‘red carpet premiere’ – a few concerns were shared between the girls and I. It may just be “another Disney movie” but it is the first ever showing with a red carpet, so we needed time to discuss what we plan on wearing.

It’s such a typical girl thing to be worried days before an event about your outfit, even hairstyle and makeup. Of course, we can’t go shopping without Perrie and Danielle, but luckily they’re both flying in today. Having nothing else to do, us girls have the honor to pick them both up from the airport.

We stole two of the boys’ rental cars and started the drive to the airport. I was driving by myself in one van, whilst Diane and Eleanor went in another van. You may not think we need two vans to make this trip for two girls, but Perrie is coming with the rest of Little Mix and you never know how much those girls are going to pack even if we leave next month.

It’s hard to say we’re leaving next month, because I really missed all of this California-ness. Leaving would just be so weird; I can’t really explain it. But I can’t say I’m not excited to return back to London, at least not until after the movie.

I finally pulled up next to the other van in the back parking lot of the crowded LA airport. Hailey was left with Louis at work, probably being watched by Paul as we speak. We needed to be very secretive and leave as soon as all of the girls were in our presence with luggage accountable. Danielle would be the first to arrive in the Far East part of the airport, arriving an hour before Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, and Jade who get out on the complete opposite side of the airport.

I climbed out of the car, scooting the wide framed sunglasses higher up on the bridge of my nose. Making sure the van was locked, I ran to catch up to Eleanor and Diane who didn’t care to wait for me.

After I had finally caught up to them, we were already at the entrance to the airport. Luckily, there were no fans or paps on this side, but I can’t say that it will be the same for ‘Little Mix’.

Most of this section of the terminal was deserted than a few families consisting of either moms or dads and their children waiting for someone to come home. We had no trouble finding an area to sit in the back of the waiting area.

“I’m so excited. We’re finally going to be reunited after two whole months!” El squealed.

“I know! It’s been too long!” Diane coincided.

I laughed at them, but excused myself to use the restroom. Exiting the stall, I made way to the sink only to see a small girl struggling to reach the faucet. She looks about four or five, but I’m not really good at guessing people’s ages. I quickly wash and dry my hands, but feel the need to help the poor struggling girl.

“Need some help there?” I ask. She blows a piece of hair out of her face and nods. I let out my laugh and lift her up so she can wash her hands. I stand quietly while she scrubs a massive amount of soup into her hands.

“You’re married to that famous curly-headed guy, aren’t you?” she asks. “What’s his name…?”

“Harry Styles?” I giggle as she bobs her head up and down in a fast motion still trying to rinse off the soap. “Well, he is my boyfriend, but we aren’t married.”

“You’re not?” She pauses to look up at my face in the mirror. “Well, I hope you two will get married some day and live happily ever after like Jane and Tarzan except without all of the gorillas and jungle.”

I can’t help but to smile uncontrollably at the thought of marrying Harry, to be forever his and for him to be forever mine. And Jane and Tarzan? That’s probably my most fantasized Disney love story that doesn’t involve a princess. “You have quite the imagination there.”

“My mommy says I’m the most creative person she knows,” she smiles sweetly and turns off the faucet.

“Well, I can see why.”

I assist her in the task of reaching the paper towels and drying off her hands before exiting the stalls with her.

“Who are you here with?” I ask her.

“My daddy and my older brother who is mean to me. They were standing over there the last time I saw them…” She points in a direction close to where El and Diane still sit talking.

“Well I’ll help you find them. What do they look like?” I kneel down to her height.

“My daddy is really, really tall. Like this tall!” She extends her hands as high as she can go. “And he has dark hair like yours,” she illustrates by showing me my own hair. I laugh at her adorable description of her father.

“Elizabeth Reid! There you are, we’ve been worried sick about you!” a tall man called out looking in my direction.

“Daddy!” she turns and runs toward the man who has a boy about seven-ish in my perspective by his side. The man kneels down when he reaches us and engulfs the little girl, who I now classify as Elizabeth, in a hug. I stand up, stretching out my back as I do so. Elizabeth pulls back from her father’s arms and smiles up at me.

“This is my daddy. Daddy, this is… um… she’s dating Harry Styles of One Direction!”

“Harmony,” I shake the man’s hand as he gets up with her sitting atop one of his shoulders.

“Harmony. Thank you for keeping my little monster out of trouble,” he teases the girl. She leans down to whisper something in her father’s ear that in return whispers something back. She giggles and nods her head yes in response to whatever he said. He smiles and puts her down on the ground.

“May I take a picture with you?” she looks up to me with pleading eyes.

“Sure.”

I kneel down once more and smile into her dad’s phone camera lens. Before we stop smiling I ask him to take the photo with my phone. I never want to forget this little girl who truly made my day in the airport bathroom.

Giving Elizabeth one last hug and high-fiving her shy brother for no apparent reason, I say my goodbyes to the small family and walk back to El and Diane.

As I sit down I pull up the picture and decide to tweet it.

“Who was that?” Diane immediately asks.

“Just a girl I met in the bathroom,” I say the corners of my mouth rising higher and higher as I remember what she told me.

“Interesting…” El observes. “What’s with the smile?”

“It’s nothing. I just had quite an… interesting conversation with her while helping her wash her hands."

“Mhm… About what?”

“It’s a secret…” I say not wanting to share this memory. This would be one of those moments that I’d keep to myself, but every time I should think of it, would bring out the biggest smile in me.

@Lazylazerpants
I can't believe I just saw your comment! Thank you so much! I honestly don't think this series was that great, but if you really did enjoy it, you'll definitely enjoy my other story, Love At First Type, if you haven't read it already. You don't have to, but it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :D

So I spent the past week reading all three of these and I have to say, this was a fantastic end to a fantastic series. Great job!

@ThatRebelUnicorn
It is a compliment, I didn't know what word I should use and I thought "unusual" was the most appropriate :)
that's it! The cliffhanger was perfect though! It worked perfectly!

@Marbleskin
Still not sure if I should take "unusual stories" as a compliment, but thanks! To be completely honest, I completely agree that the ending of Listen To Your Heart was horrible, but I was kind of going for the cliff hanger thing like at the end of Catching Fire, but yeah… it sucked. I'm really glad that you liked the sequel though :D

Being honest, I was mad at the en of Listen to your heart, because to me, it wasn't a good ending. And I was so sad that it was over! Then, 2 hours ago, I realized that you wrote a sequel! I felt so stupid yet so happy!
I'm happy that you give the explanations of everything in the epilogue, what a brilliant idea! When I first read it, I was afraid that I missed it, that I could have skipped a chapter accidentally...
This sequel is amazing, you're still an amazing writer, & I truly like your other story too! Thanks for writing such good things and unusual stories!
