These Chapters of Our Lives ~ COMPLETED

Give or Take

About a year later... Give or take
“You may now kiss the bride,” the pastor announced. I sighed in relief that I wouldn’t have to stand through this wedding any longer. This dress is quite uncomfortable and these heels are giving me blisters.

“Kiss her already!” Zayn shouted obviously feeling my pain. The crowd laughed as Liam and Danielle finally closed their marriage with a single kiss. The crowd cheered in rejoice, at least the ones in the seated audience did. I will never get used to having to stand through weddings. I learned that the hard way at Drew and Talia’s wedding… and Louis and El’s wedding.

People started to make way as the newly weds lead the crowd to the reception out back. I sighed and leaned onto El, who stood next to me.

"Weddings just aren't my thing," I told her.

"Why? You just happen to be everyone's maid of honor; you should be happy."

"Trust me, I am, but I don't think I could stand through another wedding if it killed me."

"Amen!" Zayn exclaimed, resting his head on my shoulder.

I shook him off and made balance by holding onto his shoulder while taking off my heels. Everyone seemed to tower over me, but here was no way I could stand in these death mechanisms any longer.

"Much better."

"We better get outside; the Payne's are looking for us," Louis fantasized over their last name.

"Really Louis? And how are the Tomlinson's doing today?" Harry butted into the conversation holding little Hailey in his arms.

"Just fine, Harold. Now stop holding onto my own child and get your own!" Louis snapped and took her from him. "Hi, Hailey; is Uncle Harry being weird? Yes, he is... Yes, he... Oh God..."

"What is it?" El asked.

"Someone has a dirty diaper..." Hailey giggled as the rest of us did.

"Alright. Have fun changing her diaper. Lets get to that reception girls!"

~

I have had a really hectic year so far. Ever since Harry has asked me to move in, I haven’t had a break in a while. I had to move all of my belongings to his flat while helping El and Louis get settled into their home. Then, I had to help El plan her wedding so she wouldn’t be fat with a baby bump when it happened. I went back to work for quite some time, but Harry complained that I was away too much.

I ended up quitting my job last month, as well as Dani. As much as I loved to work as Belle, I couldn’t stand the distance and short visits between Harry and I. Between moving everything from Anaheim to London, Dani’s wedding, El’s pregnancy, and whatever else has happened, I’m exhausted.

“Harmony, come dance with us!” Diane called from the dance floor. I looked up at Harry who nodded in response. I got up and walked over to them.

“Finally. Harry can’t possibly keep you sitting there forever!” Perrie shouted over the music.

“He isn’t; I’m exhausted. I really just want to take a really nap. A really, really, really, really, really…”

“We get it!” Diane laughed. I guess you’re probably wondering why Diane is at the wedding. Well, apparently Niall went out on Valentine’s Day and met her at a bar. I helped them get together, because Niall made the stupid mistake of not getting her number. Luckily he had described her perfectly to fit her name, and I had her number adding another event to my hectic year.

Diane gets along with the rest of the girls really well, but she gets a lot of hate for officially taking the last fifth of One Direction off the market. We have a lot of girls’ nights with feelings and ice cream.

“Ugh, my feet are exhausted!” Dani claimed after the millionth song.

“Duh! Why do you think I took my heels off?”

“You know, sometimes you an be really smart Harmony…”

“I know!” I smiled widely.

“Everyone, may I have your attention?” Niall’s voice sounded from the stage. I turned my gaze to one of the best mans of this wedding. Apparently you can’t just have one best man because it would be “unfair” to the boys who didn’t get picked, yet we can only have one Maid of Honor. Why me? “We are about to start the speeches before we send off these love birds on their honeymoon, so if you all could just take your seats, we’ll be on our way.”

~

Somewhere between Louis and Harry’s speeches, I began to get really sleepy. I had already finished my “heartfelt” and “emotional” speech about how I thought I could always count on Dani to “be there for me” and ended up talking about how you have to hide your ice cream from her.

“I always tell Liam I can handle myself, that I really am a responsible adult. I tell him that I’m older and more mature, but I think we all know that’s bullshit. He always keeps us all in line, and I’m really happy to have been here throughout his relationship with Danielle. You two are O-T-P!” Louis finished up. I watched El shake her head as she held Hailey in her hands.

Hailey Marie Tomlinson. She’s such adorable little baby. She’s about six months now, and she is super spoiled, but we all love her. Her smile is definitely El’s, but her eyes show the bright blue of Louis’.

I yawned slightly into my hand and checked my phone for the time. It was nearly midnight, and if I was in a more private situation, I would have fallen asleep. Well, it isn’t too bad, so I guess I’ll just shut my eyes for a little while…

Harry’s POV
I haven’t seen Harmony since the speeches had finished. Liam had pulled us over to thank us for being his best… men. Slowly, the crowd started to die down eventually leaving just us best men and bride’s maids as Liam and Dani had gone to catch their flight.

“Hey, has anyone seen Harmony?” I ask.

Everyone looked at one another with questioning looks until Eleanor spoke up. “I think she fell asleep in her seat. I wouldn’t wake her up though; she is undoubtedly exhausted from today.”

“Thanks, El.”

I walked over to my sleeping beauty and smiled to myself. I watched as she puffed her chest up and down while breathing softly. Her head was leaned to rest on her left shoulder. Tall shoes stray feet away from her bare feet, and her hair lay in a mess of small curls on her head. She’s so cute when she’s asleep.

To make sure she was fully asleep, I waved my hand in front of her face and got no action. I laughed slightly to myself as I snapped a pic.

“Harry, we’re heading out now! Hurry up!” Niall shouted causing Harmony to stir in her sleep.

“Shh… You’re going to wake her up!” I yelled in a whisper.

“Sorry…”

I walked up to Harmony and cautiously picked up her sleep conscious body in my arms, heeding Eleanor’s instructions to not wake her up. Following the group out through the small chapel, we waved our goodbyes to each other and headed our separate ways.

Gently placing Harmony in the passenger seat, I made haste to get us back to our flat to obtain some well-needed sleep.

~
When I finally pulled up to the building, I got out and carried Harmony up to our flat. I will never get used to that. Our flat. It seemed like just yesterday I was asking her to move in with me. I can remember every last detail.

Flashback
“Move in with me,” I finally croaked. She stayed still, her face portraying a look of shock, maybe astonishment. I squirmed under the silence, longing to get out of the cold water. “Um…”

My ‘um’ was cut short when she smashed her lips onto mine. I immediately kissed back, but pulled back because curiosity has killed this cat.

“So what do you say?”

“Harry, that is the sweetest thing anyone has ever asked me, but I really don’t want to move in with Louis… Sometimes, he scares me,” she whispers her last sentence.

I chuckle at her reason, “Well, I guess it’s a good thing that I spent all week helping him find a house for he and Eleanor to move into.”

“So that’s what you’ve been up to! You cheeky bastard! I could have helped!” She smacked my shoulder.

“Yes, but you could have told El. Plus, who else would have kept her busy?”

“Humph… I guess you’re right.”

“So is that a yes?”

“Yes, Harry. I would love to move in with you.”

End of Flashback

I lay Harmony down, not caring to rid her of her dress and slid under the covers next to her. I pulled her into me and rested my head atop hers.

“I love you, Harmony,” I whispered, placing a small kiss to her forehead. I know she couldn’t hear me, but I just felt the need to tell her. I really want her to know that she is mine, and forever will be, no matter what.

@Lazylazerpants
I can't believe I just saw your comment! Thank you so much! I honestly don't think this series was that great, but if you really did enjoy it, you'll definitely enjoy my other story, Love At First Type, if you haven't read it already. You don't have to, but it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :D

So I spent the past week reading all three of these and I have to say, this was a fantastic end to a fantastic series. Great job!

@ThatRebelUnicorn
It is a compliment, I didn't know what word I should use and I thought "unusual" was the most appropriate :)
that's it! The cliffhanger was perfect though! It worked perfectly!

@Marbleskin
Still not sure if I should take "unusual stories" as a compliment, but thanks! To be completely honest, I completely agree that the ending of Listen To Your Heart was horrible, but I was kind of going for the cliff hanger thing like at the end of Catching Fire, but yeah… it sucked. I'm really glad that you liked the sequel though :D

Being honest, I was mad at the en of Listen to your heart, because to me, it wasn't a good ending. And I was so sad that it was over! Then, 2 hours ago, I realized that you wrote a sequel! I felt so stupid yet so happy!
I'm happy that you give the explanations of everything in the epilogue, what a brilliant idea! When I first read it, I was afraid that I missed it, that I could have skipped a chapter accidentally...
This sequel is amazing, you're still an amazing writer, & I truly like your other story too! Thanks for writing such good things and unusual stories!
