A New Life in New York

Wild Thoughts (Harry Styles Cover) - Part Two

Just a bit of advance warning - there is a sex scene in this chapter.

“Drive careful,” I said to my sister as I hugged her goodbye.

“I will. I’ll text you when we get to Montauk. Thanks for talking today.”

“I’m your big sister. I’m always here to talk. I love you.”

“I love you too,” Nellie replied before hugging me one more time and kissing my cheek. I waved goodbye out the front door until I saw Justin’s car pull through the gate and out onto the road. I shut the door and walked upstairs to the master bedroom to change into my bathing suit. I put on a suit with black, high waisted bottoms and a coral flouncy top. Despite the fact that in the six months I’d been with Harry that I’d been to the gym more times than I had in the previous six years this bathing suit hid all of the imperfections caused by two pregnancies and a love of pizza. I walked outside to find Harry swimming laps in the pool.

“You have a bathing suit on,” he said as he stopped at the end of the pool, resting his arms on the side and his chin on his arms.

“I do.”

“It’s supposed to be naked weekend.”

“Are you naked?”

“I mean no but naked weekend was about you, plus your sister and Justin barely left." I sat down on the edge of the pool next to him. He moved in the water so he was between my legs. He left featherlight kisses on the inside of my thighs before lifting himself out of the water to capture my lips.

“You’re getting water all over me,” I said.

“Oh I’m so sorry.” He kissed me again before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into the pool.

“I fucking hate you.” I splashed him as I came up for air. He wrapped his arms around me.

“You do not, you love me.”

“Eh, sometimes.”

“Sometimes?”

“Okay, all of the time.” The kisses started again as he wrapped my legs around his waist so he was holding me in the water. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Being you. Loving me. Loving my kids. Forcing me to take this weekend alone with you.”

“Loving you and our kids is the most important job I have.”

“We are all so lucky to have you.” I softly kissed him before brushing his hair out of his face.

“So what did Nellie want to talk about? I didn’t hear yelling so I didn’t think it was the ‘you don’t need me anymore’ conversation we thought it might be.”

“She wanted to ask me some advice.”

“About?” he asked.

“How you know when it’s right?”

“When you know what’s right?” He started almost dancing around the pool with me still wrapped around him.

“Love.” I kissed him again. “She wanted to know how I knew it was right with Greyson, that he was the one. But especially how I knew you were it for me.”

“What did you tell her?”

“I told her that when I met Greyson that he changed my world. He opened doors for me that I didn’t know existed. He showed me places I never even dreamed of. He loved me in a way I didn’t know possible and gave me the two best parts of my life. We were unconventional. He was twice my age when I met him. He encouraged me to pursue my dreams. He was my everything.”

“And me?”

“That you saved me. You changed my life.” I watched as his face softened and his eyes got watery. “I didn’t know if it was possible to fall in love again after losing Greyson. Was there ever going to be a man who could love me and my kids? Someone that wouldn’t be threatened by the importance of Greyson in our lives. I was pretty sure that I was going to be alone forever, which sucked because with Greyson I learned just how awesome it was to be in love. And then I met you.”

“Then you met me.”

“And you, Harry Edwards Styles, changed my life. Greyson changed my world, you changed my life. You taught me that it was okay to fall in love. You not only fell in love with me but you fell in love with my kids, all five of them.”

“It would’ve been impossible not to. Your kids, all five of them, make my life better, just like you do. And that even includes Jamo who treated me like I was the most unwelcome guest for two months.”

“He’s always been scared someone was going to try and replace his Dad. When Greyson and Amelia split he was a jerk to everyone that Amelia dated according to both of his parents. When my sisters and his sisters started to encourage me to date he was vocally against it. He’s really tried to be the man of the house when he’s around for the littles but he needs to be a kid. He needs to enjoy college and have fun instead of being the stepson that calls me every day to ask how the kids are, though I love him for being so sensitive. You eventually won him over though.”

“It took a lot of work but I was determined to make him realize I wasn’t going to replace his father for any of you. But that I wasn’t going anywhere because I loved you and wanted to be with you.” I kissed him gently again. “So why was Nel asking this?”

“Justin wants to move in together. His brother is getting married this summer so he’s started talking about their future, which is normal since they’ve been together about a year and a half. She loves Justin a lot but she is terrified of settling down. She’s been basically helping raise two kids for two years and hasn’t been a kid. Justin is part of a big family, he wants to have kids and everything, which I think scares her a bit. She wanted to ask how I knew it was right to marry Greyson and how I knew it was right to move forward with you and move in together.”

“We haven’t moved in together.”

“Yeah, about that.” He smiled. “I would really like for you and Harper to move in with me and the kids.”

“Are you serious?” I nodded excitedly. “We would love to move in with you, Grey, Finn, Nellie, and Elizabeth.”

“Well, about that, the conversation with Nellie has convinced her that the time is right and she’s going to accept Justin’s invitation to move in with him. He just got a new job with a raise and a hefty signing bonus. He wants to buy a place for them and so they are starting to look. I think she was hesitant because she wasn’t sure what I would do without her. So I told her that I was considering asking you and Harper to move in. She told me she was so happy to see me with you and watch us with our kids.”

“We are really going to move in together?” he asked. I nodded again as he spun me in a circle in the pool.

“I need to talk to Elizabeth about it but she has been asking me when you’re moving in permanently. I think she was nervous that she’d get kicked out.”

“I think Harper and Grey would kick us out before they’d kick Elizabeth out.”

“That’s what I told her. I might give her the option of moving down to Nellie’s room when she’s completely moved out. Though we could have your Mum live there.”

“You want my Mum to move in too?”

“Well, that’s really up to you. If you intend on keeping your apartment she may enjoy the freedom of having the place to herself.”

“That’s very true. I could let her do some redecorating, make the master suite hers. That way there’s space for Gemma to stay when she comes to visit or Mum’s friends.”

“Exactly. She loves living with you and Harper, I know that. But all of us might be a bit much. And it’s not really like she’s not living with us, she just has her own space in the building. She can come and spend time with us at her choosing.”

“And she’s still in the building to help watch the kids.”

“She is, though I’ve already started to interview nannies.”

“I know that.”

“I have been talking to them that a portion of the time they’d have all three kids. I want to make sure we are covered. I know it isn’t going to be full-time which is great because most of the time when you do that you end up needing to providing housing and I’ve always been a bit weirded out at the idea of a nanny living with me. I mean I get it if we are out here for the summer.”

“For the summer?” he asked.

“Yeah, that was always the plan for this house. There’s enough space that if we are here for the summer all five of the kids have their own space and there’s living quarters for staff.”

“I know that.” He had initially refused a huge tour of the house when we came out the first time. He just wanted to know where we were and where the kids were. He then started exploring on his own late at night when he couldn’t sleep and found the staff quarters that had been built into the house. There was furniture in there but it hadn’t been used at any point that I ever stayed here.

“Well if we decided to come out here for a summer we could have a full-time nanny that lived in the staff quarters. I’ve just never needed it with my family.”

“It’s something for us to consider if next year we decide to be here for the whole summer which sounds sort of fun.” I loved the way he smiled when he was thinking about the future. It was a different smile, I could tell he was imagining in his mind what our life might be like. It always made me turn to mush because he really believed that some day we’d be old and gray and hanging out just like we are now.

“I mean you might want to be on the road though.”

“I might want to be. But we’ll figure it out when the time comes.” His smile grew again. “I can’t wait to tell Harper that we are moving in. She’s going to be so excited. She’s so lucky to have you.” I knew this was the moment I needed to have the conversation with him.

“She called me Mom the other day.”

“She did?” I nodded.

“She’d woken up from nap before Grey and I was getting her a snack. You and Finny were at the studio.”

“How did you feel about it?”

“I was a bit terrified at first.”

“Why?”

“My boyfriend’s daughter called me Mommy. We haven’t had the conversation about what the kids should be calling us. We’ve been together six months on Saturday. It just seems like something that we should talk about.”

“We should talk about it. But we can’t if you don’t tell me that stuff like this happens. Is it the first time she’s called you Mom?” I shook my head no. “When else?”

“When she was sick last month. She had a fever, I just blamed it on that. She was snuggled into me and said ‘I love you, Mommy,’ she doesn’t know any better. She’s little and she listens to the two other kids call me Mommy, it probably just seems normal to her.”

“Does it seem normal to you?”

“I mean it could, eventually.”

"You're the only mother she’s ever known other than mine,” he said.

“So you’re okay with her calling me Mom?”

“If you’re okay with it and if Harper wants to it wouldn’t bother me, but I understand why you’re concerned about it seeming too soon. I’ve felt the same fear.”

“When?”

“Well, technically more than once.” We knew this conversation was something more in-depth so we moved to the stairs and wrapped ourselves in towels to sit down on one of the loungers by the pool. I laid down on one and he wrapped himself around me. “Finn asked me a few months ago if I was going to be his Dad now. We had a pretty frank conversation about how I wasn’t ever going to replace Greyson but that I loved you and that I loved he and Grey, and would do anything for all of you. He told me he was glad that I loved you guys because he liked having a family.” I bit my lip to try and not cry. “He asked me recently if he was supposed to call me Dad since that is what Harper calls me, I told him he could call me whatever he wanted.”

“What did he decide?” I asked.

“That he liked the idea of calling me Dad but he was worried it would make you cry so he was going to wait a while before he got too comfortable with it. He’s a pretty logical kid.”

“That he is. So he calls you Dad?”

“Sometimes and sometimes he calls me Harry. I don’t tell him he needs to go either way. How did you react to Harper?”

“When she was sick I just pretended like nothing happened. This week I sort of freaked out and asked her what she called me, she repeated Mom and I just quickly changed the subject.”

“If you’re okay with her calling you Mom I’m okay with her calling you Mom. It’s not like her mother is going to show up and decide that she’s pissed off that Harper calls you that.”

“True,” I replied.

“I mean we do call all of them our kids. I try not to call Grey and Finn my daughter or son just because I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable but I may have slipped up a time or two.”

“I refer to them as my girls constantly.”

“I think we just let the kids decide what they want to call us.”

“I think that’s a good idea. Can we FaceTime them yet? I miss my babies.”

“Not until bedtime.”

“Then find a way to keep me busy because I’m going crazy.”

“You don’t have to ask twice,” he said as he bent down to kiss me and moved between my legs. His right hand grabbed my right breast squeezing it tightly and causing me to moan…really loud.

“I love the way your mind works.” His lips moved down to where he’d pulled down my top, capturing my nipple in his mouth. I moaned again, even louder.

“I love the way your body works.”

“Inside,” I muttered.

“What?”

“Inside. Take me inside.”

“Didn’t we discuss that no one could see us?”

“We did. That doesn’t mean they can’t hear us.” He looked up at me, my nipple still in his mouth. “I have a feeling this is going to be loud. We don’t have anyone here. Take me inside and make me scream.” He quickly stood up and threw me over his shoulder as I laughed loudly.

He hurried up the stairs doing his best to move quickly and not drop me. Once in our bedroom he threw me down onto the canopy bed and pulled the bottoms of my bathing suit off as I maneuvered my way out of the top. He pulled his shorts down to his ankles and stepped out of them before climbing onto the bed in between my legs. He bent down to kiss me as I felt him start to tease my entrance. He loved doing this. Getting me all hot and bothered knowing that I would eventually get mouthy and demand my pleasure.

“You’re being such a fucking tease.”

“You love it.”

“I do not,” I protested. He smirked at me as his hand slipped down between my legs, two fingers finding their way inside of me.

“Then why are you soaking wet, my dear?”

“I mean we just got out of a pool.”

“Not that kind of wet.” His fingers went deeper, his thumb expertly navigating to my clit causing me my moan to shift almost to a scream. “You are never this loud.”

“We are never alone.” I wrapped my hand around his shaft and started to slowly stroke him. I watched as his mouth dropped open and his eyes started to roll backwards. My thumb grazed across the tip of his penis which was covered in a mixture of the both of us, I heard his breath catch. “Are you going to stop fucking teasing me?”

“Never,” he replied as he removed his fingers from inside me and unwrapped my hand from him. Both of his hands grasped my wrists above my head so I couldn’t move them. He started to tease me with his tip again, just the smallest amount pushing inside me. “Teasing you is one of my favorite things to do. I get to watch your face as you try so hard not to fall apart in front of me because of how much you fucking love this.”

“You know what I love more than this?” I asked.

“What?” He was about an inch inside me this time and I squeaked quietly as I tried to speak.

“You pulling my hair.” He licked his lips. “You biting my nipples.” He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth. “You fucking me until I have to scream into a pillow so no one can hear me. And guess what?”

“What?” His voice cracked as he spoke. He was excited and the teasing was starting to become hard on him too.

“I don’t have to scream into the pillow right now. So would you please just fuck me?” With that he slammed his hips into mine and I screamed out in pleasure. My legs instinctively wrapped around his waist pulling him into me.

"You are so fucking insane and beautiful and I fucking love you so much,” he groaned as he started to rock into me alternating speeds because it drove me wild.

“I fucking love you.” I bit his lip as I kissed him. This caused just what I needed, him to speed up. He grabbed both of my wrists with one hand before his free hand found its way into my hair, pulling it ever so gently at first. “You are learning to be a bit kinky and I really love that too.” He pulled hard, enough that it caused my neck to bed so he had access to kiss it. I felt my insides start to tighten as he slid in and out, hitting me in just the right place each time. “Fuck, I’m close. Harder.”

“Not yet, my dear.” He slowed down to an almost painful pace.

“I fucking hate you.”

“No, you don’t.”

“Please,”I begged.

“Not yet.” Our lips connected, our tongues danced until I bit his lip again.

“Now?”

“Janie.”

“If you say not yet one more time…” He started to move faster again, his hand leaving my hair and returning to my clit. He started to massage it in time with the movement of his hips. “Fuck…yes…oh god…I’m so close.”

“I am too. You first, my dear.” A tweak of the nipple, the right touch on my clit and a few more hard and fast rocks of his hips and I was falling apart beneath him. I could barely catch my breath as I was screaming out his name.

“I wanna watch,” I whispered. His smile turned devilish as he pulled out of me and started to stroke himself at a feverish pace. “You look so fucking hot like this.” He was kneeling over me and I watch as his abs started to twitch just before he came. The warm liquid pooling on my stomach. He crashed onto the bed next to me staring at the ceiling.

“That is still one of the things I never quite imagined you’d be in to.”

“You imagined what I’d be in to?”

“Of course I did. I studied the way you acted around me. The way you talked. The one thing I missed was the stack of dirty novels hidden in your nightstand. If I’d seen that I would’ve understood you a little better. That I was getting into a relationship with a freak.”

“You love it.”

“That I do.” He leaned over and kissed me. “I should clean you up.”

“You should.” He leaned over to the nightstand and grabbed a few tissues. He gently wiped my skin. “So I’m reconsidering your naked weekend demand?”

“Oh are you?”

“Yeah, if we just did that all weekend I’d be pretty fucking happy.”

“You’ll have to give me a minute to rest up. I need to catch my breath.”

“Such a wuss.” He rolled his eyes at me as he got out of bed and walked towards his bathroom. “Hey where are you going?”

“The bathroom. I’ll be back.” I rolled onto my stomach, my feet up in the air, as I waited for him. He walked back into the room, still completely naked. He took one look at me and started to laugh. “You’ve got the craziest hair right now. Pool water, sweat, and dirty sex.”

“That was still pretty tame.”

“I know. It was just the warm up for the weekend. I have to ease into this stuff sometimes. I know you’re ready for me to tie you up at the word go.”

“Because it’s fun. And it’s so out of character for you so it’s hot. You’re typically so gentle.” He laid down beside me and started to run his fingertips back and forth on my skin. “Like this now. You’re sweet and kind and so soft. I like to see you just let go and be crazy. It’s a fucking turn on.”

“It’s been fun to explore with you. And perhaps you’ll get your wish later and I’ll tie you up to the bed and have my way with you for a while.”

“Dreams really do come true.” He started to laugh as he bent down to kiss me. This was where he was best. Gentle kisses, intense eye contact, soft touches. He admitted very early on that he was enjoying being a little more reckless in bed. There were still a few things I wanted us to check off of our sexual bucketlist but for now I’d let him go at a pace he was comfortable and also let him have moments like this. Where he got to be slow and gentle and worship me. We stayed in bed until it was time to go cook dinner. We put on our robes and headed down to the kitchen to start cooking.

“You look like you’re in another world,” Harry said as he came into the kitchen from outside. He was cooking on the grill and I was at the stove.

“I’m actually surprised I can stand,” I replied. He wrapped his arms around me, his lips connecting with my neck. “My legs feel like noodles.”

“You got quite the workout upstairs.”

“That I did.”I turned to look at him, standing on my tiptoes to kiss him. “I love you.”

“And I love you.”

“What do you have planned for the rest of the weekend?” I asked.

“Sex.”

“Yeah, right.”

“I mean that was really the only thing I was concerned about. We are getting away from our family for nearly four full days. We have had anywhere between one to three kids in bed with us every night for a week. I mean honestly, I considered not packing clothes. You can’t resist me when I’m naked.”

“You’re naked under the robe and I’m resisting you.”

“You’re hungry. The only thing you love more than sex is food.” I laughed loudly, it was pretty true. We ate dinner, in our robes, at the table outside with a bottle of wine. Harry grabbed another bottle as we headed upstairs. We snuggled up in the theater and watched movies and made out like teenagers. We fell asleep wrapped up in each other and woke up to a clap of thunder. “Oh look, a day of thunderstorms. Guess that means we are staying in bed today.”

“We could go do something other than stay in bed.”

“Like what,” he said as he climbed back under the covers.

“Go to a movie. Go shopping. We could find some sort of craft or something to do. We could go downstairs and snuggle up on the couch with each other and a book. We could…”

“Tie you to the bed and fuck all day.”

“I mean I’m not gonna protest that.”

“I didn’t figure you would.”

“Shit.”

“What?” he asked.

“We didn’t FaceTime the kids last night. We got carried away. I’ve never had a night I didn’t say goodnight to my kids.”

“They’re fine, I promise. Your Mum text me last night to tell me that they all fell asleep watching Disney movies and not to call. We can FaceTime them now.” I climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom to make sure I looked presentable. I didn’t want my kids or more importantly my parents, to see the state I was in after our first night alone in months. Harry and I both emerged from the bathroom at the same time and headed down to the kitchen to make coffee and call the kids from an appropriate location.

“Hi there,” my Mom answered.

“Hey Ma. How are you?”

“Good, how are you two kids?”

“Good, having a lazy morning. It’s supposed to rain all day. Are the kiddos awake?” It was only about 7:30 but they were all early risers, much to my dismay.

“Of course they are. Hey kids, say hi to Mom and Dad!” Our conversation from yesterday filled my mind. I knew it shouldn’t. My Mom always referred to us as Mom and Dad because saying Mom and Harry or Dad and Janie would’ve been weird for the kids. She handed the phone to the girls first. Their tiny voices started to talk over each other as they tried to talk to us.

“Hi girls. We miss you,” I said. Harry appeared behind me and smiled as he rested his head on my shoulder.

“What’s Grammy making for breakfast this morning?" Harry asked. They were all sitting at the island in my parents’ kitchen.

“Pancakes!” Harper practically yelled.

“Your favorite,” I replied. “Is she making hashbrowns too? She makes the best hashbrowns.”

“Yup! And eggs,” Grey added.

“And bacon and they have fruit too,” I heard my Mom add in the background.

“That is quite the breakfast. Make sure to tell Grammy thank you. Did you guys have a good first night?”

“We watched movies,” Grey said.

“And colored!” Harper loved to color. Both of the girls were pretty decent at knowing how to hold the phone to use FaceTime but occasionally we’d get a view of the ceiling.

“Alright we love you both. Time to give your brother a turn. We need to talk to him alone for a second,” I instructed and watched as Grey handed the phone to Finn. He jumped down from his stool and started to walk through the house to his bedroom. “Hey Finny.”

“Hi Mommy. Hi…Harry.” He’d hesitated. He very rarely had a reason to talk to us together in this situation.

“Hey Finny. Are you having fun with Grammy and Pop-pop?” Harry asked.

“I am. We are all going to the park today, Pop-pop and I are fishing.”

“That will be fun.” My Dad loved to take Finn to Prospect Park to fish. My little kid was a proud catch-and-release fisherman by the time he was 3-years-old. They had tried to teach Harry earlier this spring but I ended up with a boyfriend who had a fishing lure in his finger and a trip to the ER. “So Finny, Harry and I had a talk and we wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Okay,” he said.

“What would you think if Harry and Harper lived with us all the time?” I asked.

“I’d really like that!”

“You like having two little sisters, don’t you buddy?” Harry said.

“I do. I know that Harper and Grey have fun too. They like having each other.”

“Well, when you get home Sunday night Harry and Harper are going to be staying with us every day instead of occasionally. I wanted to talk to you about something else, Finny.” I took a deep breath. “Harry told me that you asked if you were supposed to call him Dad.”

“Am I in trouble?” He looked scared and it broke my heart.

“Not at all, buddy.” Harry said.

“I wanted you to know that if you want to call Harry Dad that I’m okay with it. But it is completely up to you. That is something you should do because you want to, not because of anything Harry and I want you to do. Harry is never going to replace your Dad in my heart but he’s fixed it. It’s not broken anymore.”

“I’m glad, Mommy. I have been calling him Dad when it’s just us. I kinda like it.”

“I like it too, buddy.” Harry had a huge smile on his face.

“I’m sure your sister will start to follow your lead,” I said calmly. I had always been so sad for Grey. She was growing up without a father. Her Dad would’ve loved her more than the world but she deserved to have someone who could do the father/daughter things I got to do with my Dad while I was growing up. “But we need to let her decide to do that.”

“Okay. Does that mean Harper is going to call you Mommy?”

“That is her choice too. Okay?”

“Okay.”

“We both love you, Finn. We just wanted to talk to you about it so you didn’t feel like you had to hide what you were thinking from your Mom anymore.”

“Okay. I know that you aren’t trying to replace my Dad but it’s nice to have one. I don’t really remember a lot about him other than what everyone tells me. But I do remember that I liked having a Dad,” Finn said. I was trying to hold in the tears. “It’s been nice to have a Dad again.” That’s when the tears slipped out of my eyes. I rested my head on Harry’s shoulder.

“Finn, I’ve always dreamed about having a son. I couldn’t have asked for a better one.”

“So are you and Mom going to get married?” Finn asked. My eyes must’ve bugged out of my head because Harry laughed a little bit.

“Would you like that?” Harry asked.

“Yeah, I would. I think Mom would too.”

“I know I would,” Harry replied. “So maybe someday we will get married but for now you and the girls are our number one priority, okay?”

“Okay, but I would really like it if you married Mom.”

“Someday, kiddo,” I said through some uncomfortable laughter. “Go give the phone back to Grammy.” He took off back to the kitchen and before he went to hand the phone to my Mom looked at us.

“Bye Mom, bye Dad.”

“Did I just hear that correctly?” my Mom asked.

“You did,” I answered.

“He’s been asking me if it was okay for a while. We wanted him to know that it was okay if he thought it was.”

“I thought this day might be coming. Harper asked when Mommy and Daddy were coming home yesterday. They are young and the girls likely don’t have a memory of life without both of you. You’re doing good, kids. Letting them make that decision on their own is good.”

“I know,” I replied. “Finn did ask if we were gonna get married now?” Mom choked on her iced coffee.

“She forgot to mention that we told him Harper and I were moving in.”

“You are?” Mom’s smile got huge. “That makes me so happy. You’ll get married when you’re ready. Just live life and enjoy it.”

“We are,” I said as I turned to look at Harry. I kissed his cheek.

“I’m sure you are.” Mom raised her eyebrows. “Well, I better feed your kids. Have fun you two. Enjoy the rain today, I’m sure you’ll find something to keep you busy.” She winked at us and I rolled my eyes. “Maybe give me another grandbaby to love on.”

“Keep dreaming, Ma.” We waved goodbye before disconnecting. “That went easier than I thought it would.”

“I’m proud, you only cried a little bit. I was a bit worried that your Mum would have a problem with the kids calling me Dad.”

“Why?”

“She loved Greyson.”

“Yes, she did and she loves you. My kids deserve to have someone to be around as a father figure. And honestly, since it can’t be their Dad, well I couldn’t have picked a better person than you to be that for them.”

“And Harper has found herself the best Mom in the world. And I meant what I said to Finn. This isn’t just about me playing house with someone and I don’t want you to ever think that. I love you, I love our kids, and someday we are going to be a real family.”

“We are a real family,” I replied.

“Well someday I’d like you to be my wife.”

“And someday I’d love to be your wife. I know it all seems like it’s rushed.”

“No it doesn’t. It seems natural. Like this is the pace our lives were meant to take. I was meant to find you that day in the waiting room at the pediatrician.”

“I love you,” I said leaning towards him to kiss him.

“I love you,” he replied before capturing my lips with his.

The fear I had about what the world thought melted away the longer his lips were against mine. I knew there were people who would judge how quickly they perceived our relationship to be moving. I’d been through it before, the whispers about how the relationship seemed to everyone else. The society women who originally felt Greyson and I moved too fast, who then believed I was wallowing in my sadness too long, were now going to talk about this. How I was moving on and falling in love with a new man, replacing my children’s father.

But even my children knew that I wasn’t replacing Greyson. He was always going to be part of their lives. Harry was so wonderful about it. When I finally told him about Greyson we spent hours talking about him, looking through photo albums of the life I had with Greyson. He asked about what Greyson did for birthdays, what his favorite things were, so that he could be someone to remind the kids of who their father was. He really wanted Greyson’s legacy and memory to be alive in all five of his kids. It was one of the many reasons why I loved him so much.

“You changed mine too,” he said as he pulled his lips back from mine. His eyes always held so much of what was going on in his mind.

“Changed your what?”

“You changed my life, too. You should’ve told Nellie that when you find the right person you know. I knew in an instant with you. You changed my life.”

Notes

Okay no lie, I may have gotten teary-eyed writing this. I’m being terrible and not doing a great job at proofing this because I want to post it so I can eat dinner, haha.

I really hope you liked this chapter. This relationship makes my heart grow like 12x it’s size. Harry, Janie, and the kids are exactly what I needed in my life and I am SO glad I started to write this. I hope you’re happy too. :)

I know that I tend to include sex scenes in what I write and honestly, Harry and Evie are super sexual with each other but this is a bit more of a descriptive than I normally write so if you’re not okay with that I’m sorry. But this was what felt right for the characters, the scene, the chapter, and I had fun with it.

I can’t wait to hear what you think of this so please - comment, message, whatever. I would LOVE some feedback on this story. I’ve got a LOT going on over the next few weeks - my birthday is Thursday, I’m moving out of my apartment, I just moved into an office that I’m finishing up and I have a busy few weeks at work - so I’m not 100% sure how much writing I’m going to get done but I’m going to try. And I’m going to TRY to write Harry and Evie. I miss her mind and I miss them. I also know my loyal In the Heat of Los Angeles fans are getting antsy for a new chapter. So bare with me but I’m going to try to dive back into that world.

xx AM.

I am really glad you're enjoying it. These characters are fun for me to write and such a departure from what I've written in London Calling and In the Heat of Los Angeles. Writing Harry as a Dad basically makes me melt.

HOLY HELL LOVE!!!!

@raybansncoffee
That's probably why I love it so much... because Harry with kids makes me so happy.

YAY! I'm glad you like it. It's SUPER fun to write. I also really love the challenge it gives me. Plus really, Harry with kids. I'm pretty much dead.
