*Elizabeth’s POV*
*Next Day*

It was the second day of school, and it seemed like any other boring day.

Time seemed to flow like cement, as I slouched at my desk in Biology class, with Liam in the seat next to me. I was tapping the end of my pencil gently on my vinyl desk-for-one.

I noticed Liam checking his cellphone for the time. It’s only been a minute since he last checked it an hour ago, or so it seemed. Sitting there with nothing to stare at, as the teacher droned on about biology and its importance, everyone started to get fidgety, waiting for the period to come to an end.

When the bell finally let out, everyone grabbed their things and jumped out their seats. Ignoring the last few comments spoken by our teacher, we all rushed out of the classroom.

“Jesus! I hate this class! I don’t even know why I took biology!” Liam exclaimed, running his hands through his hair, as he clutched his backpack with his other hand.

“Tell me about it!” I sighed, as Liam and I walked down the stairwell to the lunchroom to met up with the rest of our friends.

As we walked down, talking about the atrocity of being at school again, I noticed the hair of the girl in front of us. Her hair shone like the sea at night, the black strands utterly white where the bright rays fell. As she moved, so did those brilliant bands, like echoes of the northern lights. It looked exactly like Destiny’s.

Suddenly, overcome with mixed emotions and curiosity, I tapped the shoulder of the girl, praying it was Destiny. “Destiny?” I called. The girl, turned around to reveal the face of Amber, another girl in our science class.

“No.” She shook her head, giving me a concerned look.

“Sorry.” I mouth to her, embarrassed, before looking at my feet.

“You alright?” Liam asked me, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah – Yeah! I’m fine. Sorry.” I quickly say, beaming a smile at Liam.

By now, our whole group had gathered at our regular lunch table. We grew a lot since the beginning of last year. The regular boys – Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn were all here, including Mabel, June, Ally and me. Neal, Josh and Antwon joined us. Amanda’s friends had all gone their own paths, despite all five of them still being close friends, they aren’t always together, so Amanda even joined us – partially because of Neal, but mainly because she had patched up all her problems with the rest of the group. The only person that wasn’t here was Destiny. Bella took her place.

As everyone was off discussing some lame topic, I couldn’t get Destiny off my mind.

She left. With a single word. Just up and gone. Not a single damn word. How are we not worth at least a “Goodbye?” Were we bad friends?

Suddenly, I noticed Owen walk by the lunch table. “Owen!” I called out his name.

“Elizabeth, what are you doing?” June whispered to me.

“I need answers,” I say back.

“Elizabeth? What is it?” Owen asks, glancing over at Harry quickly and then back to Elizabeth, before settling his vision onto the dirty lunch table, which used to so much cleaner when Destiny was around.

“Is Destiny back?” I asked softly.

“Uh,” Owen stutters, rubbing the back of his neck as he searches for answers.

“Why would you ask him? He doesn’t know anything. He’s just the one who fucked her.” Niall says, through his gritted teeth. All his happy thoughts of Destiny went out the window during the summer. I’m pretty sure he hated her more than Harry did.

Owen gets a murderous look in his eyes, a look no one has seen before, causing it to throw off us a bit. For him to hold these angry looks, Niall definitely struck a nerve.

“No, she’s not back,” Owen says, about to leave.

“Too bad.” Niall sarcastically says, clenching his teeth, “Wait, actually not too bad. No one really cares for another slut in town.”

“Shut up!” Owen screams, “Shut the fuck up, Horan. You should go fuck yourself!” He slammed his fists onto the table, his face inches away from Niall’s. Everyone jumps a little, terrified at Owen’s condition.

“What’d you say to me?” Niall sneered at Owen.

“I said. ‘Go fuck yourself, Horan.’” Owen repeats his words, through clenched teeth, testing Niall to say something else.

“You’re standing up for a fucking coward, Stiller. That bitch caused a lot of problems in this group. We were fine before she came along.” Niall shot again.

“You idiot!” Owen screams, throwing a punch directly at Niall’s face. Spitting out the blood, that formed in his mouth, Niall threw his body weight behind his fist that edged closer to Owen’s face, it hit his jaw with such force, blood pooled in his mouth.

“Niall!” June cries, jumping to his side. As an instinct, everyone jumps to their feet, frightened. Immediately, Louis and Liam rushed to break up the fight.

“Owen! Niall! Break it up!” Mr Green screams, speeding at us. “Break it up! Break it up! What happened here?”

“That dick attacked me.” Niall spat, glaring at Owen.

“Owen Stiller! Do you have anything to say?” Mr Green demanded, expecting an apology, but this is high school, that’s not how it works here.

A smug smile played on Owen’s bloodied face. “Yeah.” And with that, he spat the blood from his mouth on to Niall’s face, before walking off with Mr Green with a smirk on his face.

Outraged, Niall was about to lunge at Owen, once more, but Zayn held him down, as Mr Green took Owen to the office.

“What the hell just happened?” Zayn breathed out, sitting holding Niall’s arms behind his back.

“I don’t know.” Louis says, as everyone was a little startled.
