I see how he bites his lip as he looks at me with hopeful eyes.



"Ashton..." I begin.
"I-.. I don't know.. What about Mike? What if he finds out?.."



"We don't need to keep it a secret, maybe if we just tell him immediately?"
"He literally said that I needed to make sure that I don't have feelings for you.."



"You can't choose that May.. Even he knows that.."
"But still..."



"May.. Mike should be totally out of this. He shouldn't be the one that has an influence on your decision."
"But he does Ashton! He's my brother.."



"We don't need to tell him if you don't want to."
"But is it really worth it then?"



He's quiet and looks at his lap.



"You thought it was worth it with Calum." He mumbles.
"But you're not Calum." I reply without thinking.



Oh My God. What did I just say?



Stupid. Stupid. Stupid May.



"Exactly, I'm not." He mutters before standing up and turning around.
"Ashton, wait. I didn't mean it like-"



"I think I know exactly how you meant it."
"Well, then you're thinking wrong."



He sighs and walks away.



Before I even know I stand up and just before he can open the door I grab his arm.



"Ashton, I really didn't mean it like that..."
"May, it's okay if you like Calum. I'll get over it."



"No Ashton, you won't because I don't like Calum."
He turns around and looks at me.



"I don't like Calum, not the way I like you."
"In which way do you like me then?"



I lace my fingers behind his neck and pull him softly onto my lips.
He places his hands on my waist and pulls me closer.



"I really do wanna be your girlfriend." I mumble when we broke apart.
He smiles and places a kiss on my nose.



We hear a sudden knock on the door and jump apart.
I look at Ashton for a second.



Then I smooth out my clothes with my hand before opening the door.
"Hey Mike." I say.



There're still tears in his eyes.


He doesn't say anything and hugs me.
I place my hands on his back and rub them up and down.



"Thank you." He mumbles.
"For what?" I frown.


"For sticking up for me." He whispers.


I still don't know what the fuck he's talking about, but at least he's not mad at me.


"Uhh, yeah, sure.." I mumble and look over Mike's shoulder at Ashton.
Mike stops hugging me and looks from Ashton to me and back.


"What's he doing here?" Mike asks.
"He came to check up on me." I answer.



I see Mike doesn't believe it and begin to get sweaty hands.
"Is that so?" Mike asks suspicious.



"Yes." Ashton replies this time.
"Why don't I believe that?"



"Because you see things that are not there." I roll my eyes.
"May."


"What?"


"You're transparent." Mike rolls his eyes.
"What?"



"I can see right through your lies. You're transparent."



Ashton and I are both quiet.



Then Ashton sighs.
"Okay, I don't want to keep going this way. Mike I really like your sister... I came to ask her if she wanted to be my girlfriend."
