All Hidden Away

“Good morning everyone! And welcome to our show today, we are also live on Camera if you log into our website! And trust me, you want to watch this show…we have four special guests in today, four boys- no sorry… young men, who literally started from the bottom. You guessed it, today we have the Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer with us! Morning lads!” greats the interviewer. I was sitting watching them all from a side room drinking crap coffee and feeling so nervous I swear I could throw up any second.
“Morning.” Greats Ash cheerily as usual.
“Sorry it’s so early, but kids driving off to school I’m sure are thankful for the chance to listen to their idols.” She greats, flicking her fake blonde hair over her shoulder and sticking her boobs in the boys faces making me shake my head.
“Anything for the fans that got us here.” Says Michael making me smile.
“Hi miss? Can I get you anything?” Someone asks me. I smile and shake my head.
“I’m fine thank you.” I stick out my hand. “And please, call me Tasha.” She takes me hand. nods and walks away
“Okay, so boys… Excited for your last tour with One Direction?” she asks.
“Yeah, I mean the lads have been great… Like really have become older brothers to us.” Says Luke smiling.
“Yeah, it’s kinda sad actually that this could be our last tour with them for a while. But we are excited.” Says Cal nodding.
“And boys, I must ask being a fan myself, what is the best part of touring with the British boys?”
“Ohh, defs the sh- eh I mean nonsense we get up to.” Says Michael face palming himself. The boys chuckle in agreement.
“And what kind of nonsense would that be, Michael?” She asks. I roll my eyes at the stories that have come back from tour.
“Eh, we can tell you some of the things that won’t get anyone in trouble. Things like- oh there was this one show we previously did together-” starts Luke.
“This the pie story?” Asks Cal.
“Yeah, so 1D was performing right. And we were performing Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus together-”
“You mean Teenage Dirtbag wasn’t written by One Direction?” she gasps making my and the boy’s eyes pop out of their heads.
“No, they just did a cover…” says Ashton politely. She giggles.
“So anyway, we got people to run on stage and cover their faces in cream pies…” Continues Luke.
“Oh! I think I’ve seen that video…” she says nodding. The boys agree and I zone out for a while until I hear what I’ve been waiting for.
“… So Luke, you’ve brought in someone special to the studio today?” I tense and see all the boys look at me. Ash smiles and nods his head telling me it’s okay.
“Eh, yeah… yeah I did.” Says Luke smiling.
“Mind telling everyone listening who?” she says laughing.
“Uh, yeah… I brought my girlfriend, Tasha, along.” He says smiling.
“Oooh! Hear that girls? Unfortunately, the youngest has been captured.” Making me shake my head and sigh. “Oops. The lines are blowing up… I’m going to take a caller to see what people are feeling.” I freeze again and nearly spit my coffee everywhere. God I am not prepared to hear this. I turn away from the window.
“Caller? You’re live with 5 Ehs - oh - ehs!”
“Uhh, it’s pronounced 5 sauce… but my name’s Sammy, and I just wanted to ask Luke if are you happy?” The boys smile at her correction.
“Hey Sammy. I’m really happy thank you for asking.”
“Then it doesn’t matter what people think or say, I’m glad you’re happy, Luke, you guys deserve the world.” This makes all the boys thank her and I can hear the smile in their faces.
“Hey Sammy? Would it be alright if we followed you on Twitter and Instagram?” offers Michael.
“OHMEGAWD! Yes! Thank you!” she says squealing. She gives her twitter name.
“Okay, you just have to do something for us… you have to post a tweet saying anything about how awesome Snap Chat, Twitter and Instagram are so we can get Tasha to join… and then put #GETMYGIRLFRIENDONLINE at the end.” Says Luke smiling. I walk up to the window and pull a finger at him making the boys laugh as Sammy says goodbye.
“Okay next caller, you’re live with 5SOS!” she says correctly.
“OHMYGOD! HI MICHAEL!” she screams making Mikey laugh.
“Hey, what’s your name, sweetheart?”
“My name’s Cattie. And I have a question for the band. Is Tasha as much fun as she looks on your snaps?”
“Oh my god you don’t even understand!” says Calum laughing.
“She’s so hilarious and funny! Like it’s hard to be around her and not smile.” Says Ashton making me smile before I realise that this isn’t actually real… They could just be saying it to sell the story.
“And the thing with the pool, was that real?” she asks.
“Yes. She pulled Calum in when he was trying to drown her… She’s amazing like that.” Says Luke smiling. “Cattie? Can we also ask to follow you and for you to post the #GETMYGIRLFRIENDONLINE tweet?” she freaks out and gives her twitter name and whatever. This happens a few more times with excited fans until the interviewer cuts it sort.
“Okay, sorry but that’s all the callers we have time for now. Luke, you say you are very happy. Can you explain to listeners why?” she says smiling. Luke smiles a genuine smile and all the boys turn to look at me.
“I don’t know… it’s strange. Like. She just makes me laugh all the time and she’s a complete goofball but she’s so caring and loving no matter what. Like the other day – she has really bad anxiety –” the lady awes sympathetically. “And when we went out she had a bit of a panic attack from the crowed… and the first thing she said to me was “Is Niall okay?”. I mean this poor girl couldn’t breathe and was shaking like a leaf and the first thing she can get out of her mouth is asking if someone else is okay. She’s just awesome. I mean she… she’s just this awesome girl who plays guitar fantastically, makes the most amazing meals, is hella fun to be around, loves to do dangerous things that makes other people’s heart stop. Like… just a girl who is so awesome that she throws my best friend in the pool and walks in the rain without umbrellas, who is the best friend anyone could ever ask for.” He stops and looks at me. I flush at his words and smile at the boys all giving me suggestive eyebrow gestures.
“Now you say she’s got anxiety?” She asks looking at me with genuine concern. Luke nods before realising he’s on radio.
“Yeah.”
“Does that mean she’ll feel uncomfortable coming out and talking to us for a bit?” She asks making my heart start to pound.
“Eh, I don’t know… I can go ask her quickly?” he says standing up.
“Sure, we have a game to play with the boys quickly. So the aim of the game…” Luke takes off his head phones and walks over to me, pulling me into a hug.
“Love the twitter hashtag.” I say jokingly as he hugs me. He pulls me out to arm’s length.
“You okay to go on?” he asks searching my face for any signs I shouldn’t. I shrug.
“Don’t really have a choice, do I.” I say smiling. He smiles and grabs my hand and pecks my forehead for the camera before walking back. I see Michael and Cal trying to balance spoons on their noses as Ashton proudly shows off his mad skills.
“Ahh! Tasha! Great for you to join us!” says the girl handing me a pair of earphones. Luke pulls me onto his lap and wraps his arms around my waist. I laugh slightly. She indicates I need to lean into the microphone.
“Thanks, it’s great to be here.” I say before wanting to roll my eyes at how stupid I must sound. Luke leans over and we share the microphone.
“Thank you for letting us bring her out.” he says sounding genuinely happy. She laughs like what he said was hysterical.
“Anyway, sorry to bore you other boys… but would you mind telling us how you two met?” she asks looking at me with worry. She genuinely cared if I was okay. Maybe Ash was right with telling the truth.
“Sure… Babe, why don’t you talk and I’ll fill in.” suggests Luke squeezing me slightly.
“Okay so, I’m actually Niall’s… wait let me get this right… second cousin, and uh… Ash, seeing as you picked up the phone why don’t you tell that story.” I say sitting back, wanting to make it not just about me and Luke.
“I actually think I tell it the best… but anyway.” Says Cal sounding offended.
“So, Luke left his phone at the table one night we were all having dinner together. And Niall started calling him… so I answered but Tasha started speaking into the phone. And I think it was just after some function or something?”
“We were playing Never Have I Ever and it got bad.” I clear up.
“So she does the whole is your fridge running line, but I know it was from Niall’s phone, but Luke didn’t so I handed it over to him… they ended up talking for a couple of minutes and shared numbers and stuff…” he says finishing the story.
“See, I would have told it much better.” Says Cal.
“Do carry on, Tasha.” She says looking at me. I smile.
“So then we spoke for a while over messenger and things, I didn’t actually realise who he was… so then one day, uh, I went to go get coffee for Niall and the guys, and he made Paul go with me, because of, eh my, eh…” I couldn’t get it out and admit it to everyone that it was actually an issue.
“And it just so happens we were going to the same coffee shop. And unfortunately for Tasha, that meant a lot of fans came with us, basically flooding the place… Anyway, I recognised her from her profile pic and saw she was struggling to get out of the coffee shop.” Flashes of the swarms of people pass in my mind and I shake the images out. “So I helped take her outside and sorted everything out…” says Luke sounding sombre.
“It was really scary. You kinda passed out for a bit and I remember thinking we needed to call an ambulance.” Says Ashton.
“Wow… a real life hero, hey Luke?” She says looking at him. He smiles and laughs awkwardly. I let myself lean further into his chest trying to relax before continuing. He seemed to realised I was starting to stress as he tightened his grip on my waist.
“We actually were staying with Harry, and so was she and Niall so we all went back to his.”
“And then, you asked me to go on a date with you and I remember thinking you were joking.”
“Yeah, to all the guys out there. When you ask someone on a date, don’t be offended when they laugh back in your face.” Says Michael laughing.
“Shut up, Michael.” I say pulling a tongue at him.
“So everyone was staying with Harry for a bit while we were planning tour.” Continues Luke. “And although we already really liked each other, because we were talking so much… she truly wooed me over by beating Mikey at Assassins Creed, showing me her sketching, hearing her sing and play guitar… Oh.” He turns to me. “And your cooking of course. So I asked her out and we payed laser tag – which I beat you in –”
“No you didn’t, you lost, Luke!” says Michael.
“We drew…” I say shaking my head
“And then I took you out for a fancy dinner and wooed you with my amazing jokes and wit and caring nature.” He says laughing. I smile.
“And eyes…” I say looking at him.
“His eyes?” she asks leaning forward and looking into them. “Wow… they are nice eyes.” She says before sitting down.
“Thanks… that wasn’t at all awkward.” Says Luke smiling.
“And then we went out for a run together with Ashton third wheeling hectically. And then did some shopping together for a dress after he invited me to the awards show tonight. To which I said yes reluctantly… because of the anxiety thing.” I point out with my heart beating fast.
“Don’t forget the most recent date.” Says Cal laughing.
“Oh yeah! I took Tasha skateboarding.” Says Luke sounding proud. I genuinely laugh at the memory.
“Any big falls?” She asks. I nod.
“Eh yeah, I realised this morning that I have a massive bruise on my thigh and one my elbow from where I bailed badly.” I say laughing.
“Babe, you bailed because you were actually skateboarding. I could barely stand up.” Says Luke smiling.
“Oooh, good luck covering bruises tonight for the award show.” Says the lady smiling at me. my heart literally stops. Fuck. I didn’t think of that.
“Eh, yeah, uh thanks.” I say smiling as sweetly as possible.
“So now, how long have you two been together?”
“Just over two weeks.” Says Luke nodding, realising I was starting to panic about tonight.
“Wow… it seems like you’ve been dating for a lot longer now.” she says smiling. I feel Ash put a hand on my shoulder with raised eyebrows. I give him a subtle thumbs up, letting him know I’m fine.
“Yeah well…”
“I tried telling him I shouldn’t come today and that it was weird.” I say smiling. You can hear I’m a bit uncomfortable compared to earlier, but it’s not too bad. Luke turns me around to see him.
“I know, but I didn’t listen to you because I really, really like you, Tasha. And I want the world to know.” He says before pecking my nose, making the interviewer awe.
“Thank you so much for joining us, Tasha. I have a few more questions for the boys and maybe time for a few more caller questions before unfortunately time is up. You can stay here if you’d like?” I laugh.
“Thanks, but I’m going to go get some coffee quickly.” I say taking off my head phones and unwrapping myself from Luke’s grip. He holds my hand for a bit before I walk away, checking I’m fine. I nod and walk away on wobbly knees to the coffee dispenser down the passage.
