Icing on the Cake
Chapter Seventy-Four
~74~
“Excuse you.” I snarled. “You did not just say that.
“Yeah, I did, poof.” Brock said.
Frustration and anger boiled over in me. “Whose house are you in, bitch?” I said. ‘Mine!”
“You just made an enemy.” Brock said. “And you’re going to regret that.”
What the actual fuck is his problem?
As much as I hated to admit it, what he said really did shake me up. I debated telling Calum, then decided not to.
The rest of the party was ruined after that. The next day after the next, Monday, we took the twins in to get a checkup and to get a few extra immunizations.
The doctor asked us, Julia, a lot of questions about medical history. Any blood relatives with diabetes, cancer, that sort of thing. Julia said she didn’t know for all of them.
“I don’t think she knows who the father is.” I said to Calum.
“That’s what Jenny implied.” Calum said. “What if she knows more than we thought?”
“Do we ask her?”
That night, after the twins were asleep, we decided to ask Julia about the father.
“I don’t know who he is.” Julia said. She started to get emotional.
“If this is a hard thing to talk about, we don’t have to.” I said.
“No.” Julia said. “I want tell you.”
