Icing on the Cake

“Tell everybody?” I repeated.

“Tell everybody.” Calum confirmed. “Students. Teachers. The internet. Tell everybody, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God. Tell everyone, stay composed and cool, I’ll meet you at lunch and we’ll tweet, snap and tumble all lunch period with Michael and Ashton.”

I gave Calum and quick hug, loving that he had a plan for this. We then went off in our separate directions and I did as he told.

At lunch, Calum, Ashton, Michael and I were furiously typing on our phones, spreading the message and attaching the original video so the people of the world would see the full story. A few people at lunch came up to us to talk to us, and we answered every answer truthfully.

“Guys…shouldn’t there be more people in this lunch room?” Ashton asked. “Like…a lot more people?”

I looked around to see that the lunch room wasn’t even half its normal capacity.

“Where is everyone?” Michael asked.

“Go by the office.” Karen said to us, who was sitting at a table next to us. “I hear everyone who’s bought prom tickets wants a refund. And no one else is willing to buy any. They’re boycotting prom.”

A huge smile inadvertently cracked across my face. “Really? Is it because of us?”

“Yeah.” Karen said. “Everyone’s pissed for what they’re doing.”

“This is flattering, but will it stop them?” Ashton asked. “The school doesn’t need to do prom, do they?”

“Well, so many juniors and junior’s parents did a lot of work to raise money and get everything set up. And a few people have been paid, like the DJ. It’s only two weeks from Saturday. He’d have a mess if he cancelled prom.”

“We need to see this!” Calum said.

“Let’s go!” Michael said.
