Icing on the Cake
Chapter Twenty
~20~
I was a little nervous to go to school the next day. I didn’t know how many people had seen it, and I was afraid our principal would know about it and be super mad.
Calum and I arrived to school, and I felt very, very nervous. I was starting to feel a little sick and started bracing myself for a very long day. Immediately after the bell rang signifying the start of first period, the principal made an announcement on the loud speaker.
“Calum Hood and Luke Hemmings come to the office immediately.” Mr. Strands booming voice ordered. Whenever someone was called to the office for a reason that wasn’t serious or particularly pressing, one of the secretaries would always make the announcement and make the request more an ask, such as ‘would student’s name please come to the office’ instead of such a demand. When Mr. Strands made the announcement, you knew it was serious. He used his deep, booming, intimidating voice that sounded like he was yelling even though he wasn’t. Fear rushed through me. Everyone in class knew what it meant, and most knew what it was about.
I stood outside the office door, waiting for Calum to show up. I waited a few minutes for him to show up, then realized that he may already be in there. I walked in, and Calum was sitting down on one of the chairs across from the principal.
“Have a seat.” Mr. Strands ordered loudly. I sat down next to Calum. Our chairs were pushed together, and we held hands under his desk.
“Do you know why I called you here this morning?” He asked.
I quivered as I spoke, but I tried not to let the fear come through my voice. “No, I do not.” I tried to crack a small smile.
“We are here to discuss the video you two made on the Internet personally attacking me, and the school.”
My heart, Oof.
