Icing on the Cake

“Well, Mali says she’s finally done with Brock.” Calum said as he was looking at his phone at lunch.

“It’s about damn time.” I said. “And thank God; I’m sick of having that homophobic asshole in our lives.”

“Do we have everything we need for tonight?” Calum asked.

“We need more beer.” I said. We were having Michael over for dinner and he was brining his girlfriend, Ren, to get better acquainted with Calum and I. We had met her a few times, but Michael wanted to come over so we could get to know her. They must be getting serious.

“Let’s go get some after lunch.” Calum suggested.

We left the house to find at least a half a dozen paparazzi with cameras. It was like it was while we were still touring. The paparazzi following us died down after the band broke up, but we were back in the public eye since the celebrity news report about our children being arrested and nearly deported.

Michael and Ren showed up to our house that evening. Julia had the night off and was taking care of the twins.

“Dude there are so many paparazzi out there.” Michael said to us as he walked in. “We haven’t had attention like that in months. Has it always been like this for you guys?”

“Not really.” Calum said. “It started up again after Adam and Anastasia were nearly deported.”

We greeted Ren and I hugged her. The few times I met her she seemed like the kind of girl I could easily be friends with.

We were on the patio, having a drink and getting dinner ready. (And by getting dinner ready, I mean Calum grilling.)

“We have news.” Michael said in the conversation. “Ren and I are going to have a baby!”
