Two months later: London

Niall called me in a panic

“Cassie…Harry..he..he…he’s dying” Niall said

“What are you talking about?”

“I heard him on the phone, he was talking to a doctor I think and asked how long he had to live” Niall said

“Oh…well maybe that explains why he’s been such an asshole” I chuckle

“Cassie I’m serious” Niall says

“Ok well I’ll try to talk to him and get to the bottom of it ok?” I tell him

I hang up from a very emotional Niall and try to call Harry. He answers on the third ring.

“Hello” he snaps

“Harry, hi” I say

“Oh Cassie; hey what do you want?” he asks

“Well I was wanting to know if you wanted to come over for coffee and talk?” I ask

“Coffee and talk?” Harry repeated

“Yeah… and see Oliver and Livy”

“Well I can’t today but tomorrow I am free” he says

“Ok Saturday is great.. see you them”

HARRY POV:
I hang up the phone from Cassie and get ready to leave for my doctor appointment.

“Harry Styles” the nurse calls

I get up and follow her to the back. I take a seat in the big green chair while the nurse takes my vitals.

“How are we feeling today Mr. Styles?” she asks

“Well I’m feeling ok, a little more tired than usual but I’m good”

The nurse puts the tourniquet around my arm and chooses the biggest vein in my arm to start the IV in and attach the Chemo bag. So I guess I forgot to mention that two months ago I found out I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It’s a cancer of the white blood cells, it’s fast growing and will get worse fairly quick. I was diagnosed at stage two so my doctor has started me on chemotherapy two times a week. I shut everyone out because I don’t want to cause them anymore pain than I already have. Tomorrow I plan on telling Cassie what is going on, it’s only fair.

CASSIE POV:
I get the kids ready so we can go over to get Harry. Brynlie is going to stay at Niall’s, I’m going to bring Harry back to my place so we can talk peacefully. When we arrive at Niall’s Brynlie leads the way. We walk right in without knocking.

“Ok Bryn go get daddy. Liv and Olly you guys go find your daddy too and Olivia…be nice” I tell them

I go into the kitchen and sit on one of the bar stools. Liam and Sophia come in not too long after I sit down.

“Cassie love how’re you?” Liam says hugging me

“Pretty good, how are you two doing?” I ask

“Oh you know” Soph says touching her stomach

“NO WAY! Congratulations.. nice work Mr. Payne” I say

“Thank you, we’re not too far yet so we won’t tell the press until she’s further along” Liam says

“I have a question, has Harry mentioned being sick to any of you?”

“No why is one of the kids sick?”

“Oh um no I was just wondering” I say

Just as I finish talking Niall strolls in. He hugs me and lets me know that him and Louis are taking the girls to the London Zoo today. After telling Taylor and the girls and the boys good bye I gather up Olivia and Oliver and wait for Harry in the car. It’s about 11am before we arrive back to my flat. We stopped to get something to eat before coming back. I got the kids down for a nap and make my way back into the living room. Harry is in the kitchen making the coffee.

“Harry can we talk?” I ask

“Yeah sure what about?” he says

“Well Niall… I don’t know how to say this but Niall heard you on the phone the other day with a doctor. He called me panicked saying you were dying… What is going on Harry?” I ask

“Oh yeah about that. Well I was diagnosed with cancer two months ago, it’s called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I was started on chemotherapy and it’s been working for the last two months”

“Oh Harry why didn’t you tell me sooner? Does anyone else know yet?” I ask my eyes welling up

“No they don’t I didn’t want to tell anyone right away because I didn’t want to be any more of a pain in the ass. I thought I could handle this myself and everything would be alright but…but.” He tapers off

“But what Harry, what’s the matter?”

“The cancer has spread It’s in my lungs now and I have to go in-patient for chemo and radiation treatment” Harry tells me tears falling onto his cheeks

“Harry you don’t have to do this alone ok. Tell the boys, tell the fans everyone bill be there for you through all of it. we love you Harry you know that, if you’d like I can call Zayn for you too” I tell him

“Yeah I think I’d like that, could you come over tonight for dinner? I’m going to tell everyone tonight”

“Yeah sure we’ll be there” I say

After we talked for a couple of hours and drank our coffee Harry decided to get a cab to go home. He said he was tired and wanted to sleep for a while before tonight

LATER ON THAT NIGHT:
The kids and I get to the boys’ house around 6:30pm. We go inside to find Liam and Niall in the kitchen cooking while Sophia and Taylor sit on the couch watching a movie.

“Hey guys’ where’s the kids at?”

“They’re in the backyard playing” Liam says

I walk Olivia and Oliver through the dining room and out to the backyard. Johannah and Brynlie are on the playset and Harry is setting up the large table in the yard.

“Ok guys behave yourselves alright?” I say

“Ok mommy” they both reply back

“Hi Harry are you feeling ok?” I ask

“Yeah just a little nervous” he says

I give him a sideways hug and tell him it’ll be ok. I go back inside and sit next to Taylor on the couch until dinner is done.

“Ok people dinner is ready, everyone file outside” Niall calls

We all eat a fantastic dinner of steak, corn, baked potatoes and green beans. We let the kids be excused after they eat so they can play some more before we leave.

“Everyone can I say something” Harry shouts above the voices

“Sure mate what’s up” Liam says

“Ok well first off Niall when you heard me on the phone the other day I was speaking with my doctor. Two months ago I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia while we were finishing the OTRA tour. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I have been doing chemotherapy but the cancer has now spread to my lungs. So in two weeks I’m going to be going into in-patient treatment for chemo and radiation. I’m sorry you guys” Harry explains

“Mate we have your back 100%. You know that” Liam says

Us girls are a crying mess and can’t say anything. We just give Harry a big bear hug. My phone dings and I look to see who texted me… its Zayn.

Z: hey love, I’m out front and btw they’re paps all along the back fence with recorders

Me: fuck, ok I’ll be right there

Z: okay

“Alright everyone I have a surprise for you” I say

Before I could go get Zayn, Louis comes strolling out to the backyard Zayn right behind him.

“Look who I found medaling out front. And why are there paps along the fence line?” he shouts

“WHAT?!” Harry yells

“It’s ok Harry we’ll get it sorted out” Liam tells him

“Does someone want to tell me what is going on?” Louis says

Niall and Liam fill in Louis on Harry’s situation. Liam and I help Harry upstairs to his room and calm him down. I know by morning there will be all sorts of stories about Harry because of those vultures.

We get him calmed down and I get the kids ready to go.. or at least I thought I was going to. I find all of them in Johannah’s room passed out.

“They can stay Cass.. so can you if you’d like. I promise I won’t bite” Niall says

“Yeah but I can’t promise I won’t”
