Dog-Walkers

Chapter 9

I woke up at the adoption center. Nononononononononononononononononono! There's no way all of that could've been a dream, right? I looked around the adoption center. It was just like it was before the beer bottle had smashed the window. Before the shooting. Before the boys sabotaged the place. I found my favorite picture was still in one piece. Winter and Luna weren't here. Neither was the spot that I had made for them to stay.

I looked at the time. The clock said 6:39 which meant Laura would be here soon. She texted me saying she was taking me somewhere today and that Athena would be watching the dogs while we were gone. I took a deep sigh and got ready for the day and put a side braid in my hair. Laura arrived shortly after. She dressed a little fancy today and asked why I didn't dress like she told me to in the text she sent me. Just to be clear, she didn't say it mean, just firm.

"Because I didn't get that text." I said.

"Well go change into this and put on some makeup." She said.

Fifteen minutes later I came out of the bathroom ready to go completely. I grabbed my phone, backpack and some C.D.'s. Athena was playing with the dogs and hugged us goodbye. We left the building and Laura and I were arguing about who was driving until she said 'I'm driving, and that's final!' When did my best friend turn into my mother? I put in a C.D. of different songs that I wrote. The names of them are:

If Only, Better In Stereo, Good Is The New Bad, and my version to Let It Snow. But it's funny because it doesn't snow very much where I live. Only a few days out of the whole year, now that I think about it. Moving on, we drove for about an hour and parked in front of a building where there was a huge crowd of girls screaming 'we love you' and 'please meet us' and let's not for forget them chanting over and over again '1D 1D 1D 1D 1D 1D!'

"Random question but, what are we doing here?" I asked.

"Meeting One Direction, duh!" She replied.

I rolled my eyes. "Really? This was your idea of making me enjoy my day off?" I asked

"YEP!" She said, popping her 'p'.

She led me past the screaming fans and to the doors of the building. We were stopped by security and Laura whispered the code word to him, I guess, and he let us inside. We walked a ways and sat down in an auditorium in front of a stage. I asked Laura where the bathrooms were, and she gave me directions to find them. Like the joke that I cracked? No? Eh, worth a shot. I walked to the bathrooms and took off my makeup and changed into my first outfit.

I then walked back to the seats and found Laura no where in sight. I did, however, find a note that she left me. It just said that she went for some air and that she'd be back in a few minutes and to call her if One Direction came back before she did. I laughed at that last part. I set my backpack down on her seat and sat down, admiring all the artwork that was on the walls and ceiling.

It all reminded me of when I went to Paris with my parents. I brought my hand up to my chest to fiddle with my necklace, but it wasn't there. I started digging through my backpack and looked all around the seats, but couldn't find it anywhere. I looked everywhere on my walk back to the bathroom, when a door opened and hit me in the forehead, which caused me to nearly fall back but I felt someone grab me.

"Sorry about that, lass. My apologies." An older boy said, looking quite familiar.

"It's fine, I should've watched where I was going, so it's not your fault," I replied.

He then helped me up and introduced himself. "I'm Lou, what's your name?"

"Belle." I said.

"Are you the girl who's Niall's sister's friend?" I gave him a confused look. "Her name's Laura." He said.

"Oh yeah, I am." I said, then realizing that I was still trying to find my necklace.

"Um, I'm really sorry, but I have to go, I'm trying to find my necklace."

"What does it look like?" He asked.

"It's in the shape of the Eiffel Tower and is embedded with diamonds." I explained.

He then took a step closer to me, and put his hand on the back of my neck, turning my necklace around. It was on me this whole entire time! I am so stupid. I'm glad that I didn't lose it, though. I then thanked 'Lou' and walked back to my seat, and realized that he was following me. We started talking and turns out, we have a lot in common. Everything was going great, and then he asked if I wanted to go on a date with him. Wait, what?
