Chapter 98

I stepped off the plane happily Enola's hand in mine. She was exhausted as was Darcy. We flew back home right after the show the night before. I was excited to be home and Enola knew it from the way I pulled her toward the car waiting for us.
"We can sleep for a little bit before we go to the doctor." I assured Enola. She nodded and placed her hand over her stomach gently as she watched me put Darcy in her car-seat. I stood back and helped Enola into the car. I smiled warmly at her as I slid into the car after her. Dale sat up in the front seat with the driver. As soon as the doors were closed, Enola laid her head on my shoulder and cuddled into my side. I chuckled and kissed her forehead. The last two weeks had been rough for her. "Go to sleep, baby." I whispered to her. Enola wrapped her arm around my waist and nodded.

Dale turned around in his seat and looked at me with a smile; he shook his head and sighed a bit.
"What's your problem?" I laughed.
"I remember when you were a dumb kid that used to piss me off all the time." Dale replied. I lifted my eyebrow. "Always being so irresponsible at shows, running away from me because you thought it was funny." Dale and I both laughed at the countless memories. "And then with her." Dale motioned to the sleeping woman in my arms. "And now, you're the father of two and about to be a married man." Dale choked up a little bit. "I'm proud of you, Harry. I know it got bad for you for a while but you...You're a good man and those girls couldn't get any better than you." Dale smiled brightly.
"And my son?" I asked teasingly.
"It's a girl." Dale replied.
"Enola's pretty certain its a boy." I chuckled.
Dale shook his head, "Girl."
"It's a boy, Dale. You have this baby kick the shit out of your insides and make you throw up. All man like things." Enola grumbled, shifting against my side. I smiled when I felt her baby bump brush against me.
"Touche." Dale laughed and turned around to face the front again. I kissed Enola's head again, brushing her hair off her neck.
"He's right you know." She whispered. I looked at her curiously. "There's no one that could do all of this as gracefully and well as you." She beamed at me. I placed my lips on hers tenderly. "I love you, Bear." She muttered against my lips in that exhausted tone.
"I love you too, Noli. Go back to sleep. We'll be home soon." I replied sweetly.

Enola was silent as we rode to the doctor's office. She held my hand and stroked my hand the way she always had. Her mind was obviously elsewhere as she stared out the window. I held her hand a little tighter then lifted it to my lips. I kissed the back of her hand tenderly. Enola turned to me and smiled weakly.
"Wanna tell me what's on your mind, baby?" I asked gently. She shrugged. "Noli, come on. You're doing that thing with your thumb. You're thinking about something." I chuckled.
"You." She replied with a smile. "I'm thinking about how you're going to react to everything today." Enola elaborated quietly. I hummed in response. "What are you thinking about?" Enola inquired turning in her seat a little more.
"Ummmm..." I thought for a moment for what I wanted to say. "You're gorgeous." I stated. Enola stared at me blankly, like she didn't believe me. "I'm not just saying it so you'll jump on top of me when we get home." I chuckled. Enola still just stared at me. "Okay, maybe a little bit." I confessed making Enola giggle. "But mostly I mean..." I paused trying to collect my thoughts. "I was watching you get dressed and I really wanted to stop you." I began. Enola's face dropped. "Just hear me out, baby." I chuckled. She nodded slowly and listened closely. "I wanted to stop you because I...I love the way you look now. I mean, I've always thought you were beautiful, just stunning but..." I inhaled deeply. "But seeing your belly while you were walking around in your underwear." I smiled brightly. "I know you're probably in pain when you put your hands on your back and you're trying to steady yourself when you have your hand on you stomach when you bend over but I love watching you. I love seeing that bump." Enola bit her lip as she looked at me in awe. "And I know it's probably like nature's way of making men not stray while they're women are pregnant but you...I love the way you look pregnant. I do. And you're not even that big in the belly yet. I just...I can't look at you and not fall in love all over again because you're pregnant with my child. Our second baby. You said you didn't want kids when we met but here we are. Expecting baby number two and we have this daughter already that is more than I could've ever asked for. She's so beautiful and smart. She is so so so smart." I got a little choked up as I spoke. "It used to be that you and I just wanted to be able to hold hands in public but now we have this family that...I'm so proud is mine. A family that I can show off and talk about." I inhaled deeply again as I looked over at Enola.
Tears fell down her face, "I just thought you were going to tell me that you were nervous."
I laughed softly, "Oh I am. I'm fucking terrified." Enola kissed my hand the way I had done to her. "I think that even if I'd been around when you were pregnant with Darcy, I'd still be this nervous. I think it's just dad's job to be the unhinged one during child birth." Enola didn't say anything; she just kept her eyes on my face. "I also think that I will be that dad that cries at everything the kids do." I mumbled.
Enola laughed, "You already are. Darcy showed you a picture she drew of what she wanted to do with the new baby and you started crying."
"Exactly!" I bellowed. "I just...our babies are not anything I'd ever thought I'd get to have. We always talked about it but I constantly had that nagging in the back of my mind that made me wonder if we were ever going to make it this far. I have always believed in the way I feel about you but so many things would get in the way. Charles, tour, Aubrey, your mom."
"I know, Bear. But here we are." Enola placed my hand on her growing belly, "Our son. Our second baby." I nodded as we pulled up to the stop light. Enola leaned over and kissed me deeply. I hummed into her kiss and buried my hand in her long waves. "Mmmm, that doctor better make it quick today." Enola giggled as she backed out of the kiss.
"Yep. I hear that." I replied and pressed on the gas pedal. Enola sank back into her seat and placed my hand on her stomach again. I grinned and caressed the bump through her shirt. "You wanna talk wedding stuff now?" I asked quietly.
"Do you?" She inquired.
I shrugged, "We can talk rationally and in detail. Darcy's not in the back yelling about how her dress has to be purple."
Enola laughed, "What would you like to discuss then?"
"I don't know. We have a date. We need a place." I stated casually.
"Uhhhh, we're not really church people." Enola stated quietly.
"Exactly. October might be a little cold for being outside with the kids." I sighed.
"I can look into it. See what our options are for indoor venues." Enola stated with a shrug. It was quiet for a moment until Enola murmured, "Harry."
"What, baby?" I smiled warmly.
"How many people do we invite? I mean, we know a lot of people but I just..." Enola sighed heavily.
"I know you did the big wedding with Charles." I frowned. "But I don't..." I didn't want to tell her that it wasn't nice to compare our wedding to the one she had with him.
"Oh no, baby. That's not why...I just don't think we're big wedding people. You and I we're...we're the intimate, small, simple wedding people." Enola murmured. "We're the people who think it's a celebration for those that we love the most."
"Yeah, I know but, I think that we're expected to have a big one, love. My sister and Sophia already have a list of things that they want to show you. Your mum, I couldn't get your mum to shut up about having a ton of people there." I sighed, knowing she wasn't really okay with the idea.
"I just don't...we can talk about it more later. We're here." Enola mumbled as we pulled into the parking lot of the doctor's office.

Enola rested her head on my shoulder as we sat in the waiting room. She stroked my hand with her finger tips gently. I could tell that she was upset.
"I'm sorry, baby. I just want everyone to be happy with the way we do the wedding." I whispered to her.
"I know but it's not about them its about us. Our children." Enola stated quietly. "It's got nothing to do with my life before you. It's about the life I have with you." She assured me. I smiled and pressed my lips to hers gently. "I love you, Bear." She whispered.
"I love you too, Noli." I grinned. We were snapped out of our moment by the nurse calling out Enola's name. I stood up first so I could lift her from her chair. "God, that baby is heavy already." I grunted once I helped Enola up. She smirked at me with a light in her eyes that I'd never seen before.
"That was smooth." Enola giggled and puched me in the stomach gently.
I chuckled and kissed her forehead, "Oh I know." She laughed again and pulled me toward the door leading to the exam rooms.

Enola laid on the table with her shirt up, exposing her belly. I sat in the chair beside her gripping her hand as tightly as I could. Enola smiled and reached over. She stroked my hair gently, moving the stray piece back into their place. I placed my hand on her stomach and smiled. My heart was racing and I didn't know how I could make it through the next half hour.
Enola grinned, "You can start crying already, Bear." I laughed softly. I gently stroked her stomach.
"You won't be able to feel the baby move for a while. That's something only Enola get's right now." The doctor said as she entered the room.
I smiled at her, "I know but at least he knows I'm here too." The doctor smile and shook my hand, introducing herself.
The doctor looked at Enola, "You really caught a good one, didn't you?"
Enola shrugged, "Eh, he's okay."
I lifted my eyebrow and smirked, "Yeah, we'll see about that." Enola blushed and shook her head. I kissed her hand again and listened carefully to what the doctor was telling Enola.
"Do you have any questions?" The doctor asked Enola. "I know you've done this before but first and second pregnancies are a little different."
"Um, I feel like my stomach is getting bigger faster than it did with my first." Enola sounded a bit nervous. I looked at her curiously. Her belly was a little larger than what we thought it should.
"That's okay. You're body has made room for a child before, it just knows what to do now." The doctor smiled at her. "But I'll take measurements again, just to see if you're within the guidelines for the due date we gave you last time." The doctor looked at me, "This is the part that you'll really enjoy." She stood and went to the phone that was in the room, calling for someone else to come in. "But for now, we're just going to do the standard check up for you and baby.
My jaw dropped a little when the girl that entered the room had the ultrasound machine with her. Enola smiled and held my hand tighter. I looked at her with tears in my eyes. I quickly laced our fingers together. The girl smiled at Enola but when her eyes met mine, her jaw dropped and she was frozen like a statue. I groaned and rested my forehead on Enola's chest. Enola started giggling a bit. The doctor seemed confused.
"She knows who he is." Enola clarified for the doctor. The doctor rolled her eyes at the girl and snapped her out of her little trance. The doctor shooed the ultrasound tech out of the room then called in another one. Enola was having a hard time controlling her laughter.
"I'm glad you think it's so funny. The one time I would really prefer not to be near a fan and hey! This is probably going to be all over the place tonight." I snapped at her.
"Harry, you know that it doesn't bother me. If it did, we'd be having a lot of problems. But I don't care. This is the way it is. I only care when people get in Darcy's face. She's not here so I'm not bothered." Enola assured me. I stared at her blankly. "As long as pictures of my vagina aren't on the internet, I don't care." She stated with a semi-straight face. I smirked and shook my head. "This is the life you had before me. So this is the life I choose." She beamed, leaning over to kiss me softly. I leaned into her kiss a little.
"Are you two always like this?" Enola's doctor asked with a chuckle.
Enola blushed a bit, "According to our friends and family, yes." The doctor laughed a little more and sat down in the corner of the room. Within moments the other ultrasound tech was walking in the room with her machine. She took a few moments to set everything up.
"Hi." The tech smiled at Enola.
"Hi." Enola's smile was bright but shy. I caressed her hand softly to ease her shyness. Enola and the tech started chatting, mostly small talk about how she was feeling and when she was due. I tried to keep my emotions under control when I saw the machine turn on completely. My heart started to race a little bit. Enola looked over at me with a smile. I tried to return it. "Hey. We've not even started yet. Relax." Enola whispered to me. I nodded and tried to breathe steadily.
"So, let's see what we have going on with this little one." The tech beamed at Enola and I. We both nodded, ready to see him. "This will be cold." The girl warned Enola before putting the gel on her stomach. Enola shivered a bit when it touched her skin. I chuckled quietly and held her hand even tighter. Enola breathed deeply and slowly as the girl placed the probe on her belly. I waited in silence, wanting to see the picture on the screen. The girl smiled then announced, "And there's your baby." She marked it on the screen so Enola and I would know exactly where he was. I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth as my breath caught in my chest. My heart felt like it was pounding and tears filled my eyes. I knew that all I was looking at was a type of amorphous blob but at the same time, it was my child. A being that I created with the woman I loved more than anything. Someone I could hold, kiss and love when they arrived in the world. It was a part of myself that would be more than I was, just like his sister. Another reason in the world for me to be breathing. Another reason to wake in the morning and be happy that I did.
"Harry?" Enola whispered. I chuckled and quickly cleared my face of all of my tears that were falling. "Bear." She smiled as I kissed her hand tenderly.
"I'm fine, Nols." I murmured to her. She nodded and went back to looking at the screen. My eyes went back to the screen as well.
"Looks like baby is trying to impress dad." The tech chuckled as the screen showed a small amount of movement. Enola giggled as well, she'd obviously felt him move.
"Quit being a show off." I murmured to Enola's stomach.
Enola then laughed loudly, "Makes him just like his dad." I rolled my eyes and then returned my attention to the screen.
"Well, it looks like we're right on schedule with the date that you got last time." The doctor announced as she gazed at the screen. "The fetus is healthy at about twelve weeks." Enola looked at me with a bright smile but I couldn't take my eyes off the screen, tears still falling slowly.
"I thought you two had another child?" The tech whispered to Enola.
Enola stroked my hand gently as she spoke, "He's not seen this before. He had to work too much the first time around. Things were crazier back then." I frowned and kissed Enola's hand again. "Plus, he really loves being a dad." Enola tried to take away the sadness in the room.

Enola and I walked into the house only to be greeted by a screaming four year old. Darcy ran at us excitedly. My mother and Gemma were laughing as they entered the main hall as well. I picked my daughter up with a smile.
"Hi Daddy!" She beamed at me.
"Hey babygirl." I murmured to her.
"Did you get to see the baby?" Darcy spoke with excitement.
I nodded, "We did."
"I have pictures for you Darcy." Enola chuckled. Darcy clapped loudly. "But you only get them after your nap." Darcy began to pout.
"Come on. I'll put you in bed, babygirl. The faster you go to sleep, the closer you are to the pictures." I spoke softly to her. Darcy nodded and wound her arms around my neck. I stalked off with her in my arms. I knew that I'd left my mother and sister confused by my silence but inside my head was loud. I had so many thoughts that I wasn't able to control. I just wanted to be near my child to quiet them. Most of them were about her anyway.
As I walked up the stairs, I heard my mother ask Enola, "Is Harry alright?"
"Yes. He's okay. It's just been a very emotional day for him. It's the first time he's seen our baby on the monitor. He's just...he's quiet because he's happy." Enola explained to my mother.

Notes

Lots of fluff! But it's really cute!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get this updated. I've been trying but I am used to causing chaos in my characters lives, not fluffy goodness. And I have exhausted my playlist for this story. They're not really bringing inspiration anymore. If anyone has any really good tracks that remind them of this story, let me know! Playlists are a majority of my inspiration when writing.

Also reminding you that voting is going until Wednesday night. If we tie, I'm either going to post both or I get to pick a story that wasn't even a part of the voting at any time (this is the more likely option). And I have tons to choose from :P. If you really want one or the other you have to vote. All votes need to go in Temporary Fix.

Peace&Love

(great my note was longer than my chapter again lol)
