Chapter 54

Enola walked away from me like she didn't even care that I was home. She'd spent the last two weeks telling me how much she missed me and wanted me home. I was confused by her. I sighed and watched her enter the kitchen. I turned my eyes back to our daughter. Darcy came running at me with a new doll in her hands. I picked her up and carried her further into the living room as she told me of her doll.
"Grammy got this for me. It's a pixie just like the one you got me." Darcy explained shoving the doll toward me. "She's really pretty. Mummy and I play pixies all the time now. And Mummy said that she would make me a pixie costume for Halloween. And daddy, I think you should be a Daddy pixie so we can match." I sat down in the chair with Darcy as she kept talking. "And you know what else? Mummy and Grammy and I went and got paint for my new room. And Mummy said that she would put up the pixies that Nana got me as soon as you painted. So can we paint my room soon? I really want Mummy to put the pixies up. And Papa came to visit and he said that if you wanted to he could help you build a jungle gym for me outside, one with swings too. And Papa also got me a wall thingy of butterflies for you and Mummy to hang." Darcy kept talking as Enola walked into the room with a plate.
"Darcy, baby, sit down on the floor so Daddy can eat." Enola instructed Darcy.
"But Mummy, I'm telling Daddy stuff." Darcy whined at her. Enola looked annoyed.
"Baby, do what Mummy says. You can still talk to me if you're on the floor. I'll hold you when I'm done, okay?" I smiled warmly at Darcy. She nodded sadly then sat down on the floor in front of me. Enola handed me the plate filled with food. I smiled when I saw all of my favorite things. I grabbed her hand as she tried to walk away from me again. She looked back at me with worried eyes. "Thank you." I smiled at her. She returned the gesture and stroked my knuckles lightly before pulling away from me. I frowned deeply watching her leave the room again. I wanted her close to me.
"She's stressed out, honey. I'm sure she's happy to see you. Just give her a few minutes. She might act differently once we've left and Darcy is down for her nap." My mother explained quietly. I nodded and focused on Darcy again.

"E! Mum and I are leaving!" Gemma called out to Enola. Enola came out of the kitchen quickly to hug my sister and my mother. "Maybe tomorrow you and I can go shopping for your dress. Leave Harry and Darcy to do their own thing?" Gemma offered.
Enola nodded, "Yeah. We'll see how he's feeling in the morning. I'll call you." They acted like I wasn't sitting there. I rolled my eyes and leaned back into the chair. Gemma kissed Enola's cheek then stepped out with my mother. Once the door closed Enola sighed and made her way back to the kitchen. I frowned again and stood up. I followed after Enola. I wanted to know what was going on with her.
I entered the kitchen. She wasn't there. I huffed and ran my hand through my hair. She must've been in the laundry room. I made my way toward the hall to the laundry room. I entered to see Enola sorting my clothes from my suitcases.
"Enola." I murmured to catch her attention.
She looked back at me and smiled weakly, "Hey. Why don't you go get some rest since Darcy is taking a nap and your mom is gone?" She turned her head away from me like she expected me to leave. I heard her sniffle and my heart broke. I stepped closer to her and wrapped my arms around her waist. I rested my chin on her shoulder. Enola broke down crying. Her whole body sagged forward as sobs escaped her lips.
"Ssshhh, baby, it's okay." I tried to soothe her. "Please. Please don't cry." I pleaded kissing her neck softly. I held her tighter and tried to calm her. She turned to me and wound her arms around my torso. Enola buried her face in my chest as sobs wracked her body. "Baby, tell me what's going on." I said lifting her head from my chest. Her tear streaked face and defeated eyes cut into my heart.
"I missed you so much. I didn't realize how much I missed you until I saw you in the doorway." She stated trying to smile. I stroked her cheek with my thumb lightly as she gazed at me with her tear filled eyes. I leaned forward and placed a soft, sweet kiss on her lips.
"Everything will be okay." I assured her. She nodded and leaned against me even more. My heart started to race as I felt her breasts mesh against me, her breath on my face. Her hands slid up my back and she lifted herself onto her toes. She molded her lips to mine. I couldn't help but relax into her kiss. The way her lips felt on mine made my body set fire. I felt that familiar lurch in my stomach. I stopped myself from taking it further when I felt her tears hit my lips, making the kiss taste different. "Whoa. Noli." I breathed.
"Harry." She moaned in response.
"Noli, this isn't right. You're upset. I can't." I said backing away from her. She frowned even more and returned her head to my chest. She held me tighter and breathed deeply. "I'm sorry. I just...I feel like I'd be taking advantage of you. I can't do that. I want us both to want it for the same reason."
"I know, Harry. It's alright." She murmured. I stroked her hair gently as we held each other. The only sound that could be heard in the house was the running washing machine.
"Come on. Take a nap with me." I asked of her. She quickly agreed.

"Daddy." Darcy whispered, her breath tickling my face.
"What baby girl?" I asked without opening my eyes.
"Auntie Brynn and NiNi are here." She replied touching my arm lightly.
I opened my eyes and glared at her a little, "You're not supposed to answer the door." Darcy dropped her eyes from mine and nodded sadly. I carefully moved Enola off of my chest. She whimpered as I placed her on the pillows. "Come on, babygirl. Let Mummy sleep." I said picking Darcy up as I got out of the bed. I closed the door over as I walked out of the room. Darcy laid her head on my shoulder as I carried her down the stairs to the living room. When I walked into the room, Niall and Brynn smiled at me. "Hey guys." I spoke softly realizing Darcy was nearly sleeping on me.
"Hey. Did you still want us to watch Darcy tonight?" Niall asked quietly. I smacked myself gently. I had forgotten that I had mentioned wanting to take Enola out so she could get a break from being Mummy. "You forgot?" Niall laughed.
I nodded, "Yeah. My mum and sister were here when I got home. Darcy didn't stop talking until she fell asleep and Enola was trying to clean up and all. I just got distracted is all. But yes, I would like that."
Brynn giggled, "Where's E anyway?"
"She's sleeping still. We both decided to go to sleep when Darcy did." I stated sitting down with my daughter in my lap. She snuggled into my chest and sighed quietly. "Just like your mother." I murmured brushing Darcy's hair off her face. Niall and Brynn heard it and chuckled. "I'll go wake Enola up and tell her to start getting dressed." I stated.
Niall shook his head, "I'll do it."
I nodded, "Alright, she's in my room." Niall looked at me curiously as did Brynn . "What?" I asked not liking the look I was getting. Niall and Brynn both shook their heads quickly. I rolled my eyes and held Darcy tighter. A few moments later Niall returned with Enola. She looked pissed off. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked her feeling a bit frightened.
"You let him wake me up." She pouted.
I laughed quietly, "Go get dressed."
"Why?" Enola whined.
"Because I want you to. Go put on something pretty and get ready to go out." I responded.
Enola folded her arms over her chest, "Why? And who is going to watch Darcy?"
"I asked you nicely. That's why Brynn and Niall are here." I replied sweetly. Enola smirked and shook her head. "Noli, come on." I whined at her. She giggled then nodded. "Thank you. Now go." I waved her away. She left the room quickly then I heard her light footsteps on the stairs.
"So, you're taking her out on a date?" Niall inquired as he sat down beside Brynn again.
I shrugged, "I guess that's what you would call it. She needs to get out of the house and not worry about Darcy for a while. Eat a meal that is actually hot for a change. She needs to relax."
"That's really nice of you Harry." Brynn smiled but her tone suggested something else.
"What do you want to say, Brynn?" I inquired not in the mood for playing games.
"You just...you two have been very couple-y lately and now that you're home, it's like you've never spent more than an hour together. It's almost like it was before. I'm just curious as to your intentions for taking her out tonight."
"The mother of my child, who works so hard at being a mother, needs a break. She needs someone to dote on her for a while. What is wrong with me showing her that I appreciate all that she does?" I was getting defensive. "What if I want her undivided attention for a while? We are trying to figure us out." I added.
Brynn sighed, "I was just asking Harry. We all want to see the two of you happy. Darcy too." I ran my hand through my hair then kissed my daughter's forehead. I stood and placed Darcy in Brynn's arms.
"I should get dressed as well. It takes me half as long and I should really find a place for us to go." I informed her and Niall. Brynn nodded and snuggled with Darcy. Niall turned on the television, flipping directly to football. I ran up the stairs to my room so I could get dressed as well.

I stood in the living room, dressed in jeans, a button down shirt and a jacket. I was getting impatient with Enola. She was taking far too long. We had reservations at seven thirty and it was nearly seven. I wanted to get to the restaurant a bit early so I could deal with the paparazzi in my own way. I ran my hand through my hair to calm myself. I checked my watch again.
"Harry, do you want me to check on her?" Brynn inquired as she ran a brush through Darcy's hair. I shook my head quickly hearing Enola's bedroom door open and close. "It's all good see?" Brynn smiled hearing Enola coming down the stairs. I smiled brightly when I saw Enola in low cut black dress. The dress hugged her thighs and waist in the most flattering of ways. She wore a white cardigan over it to keep herself warm. "Whoa, E, you look great!" Brynn complimented her.
"You should see her in an evening gown." Niall grinned. Enola thanked them both.
I smirked a bit, "Should see her in one of my shirts." Enola blushed as she turned her face to mine. I shrugged, "What? You're gorgeous in my t-shirts with no make up and your hair up." Enola shook her head and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "Darcy, come here, babygirl." I called out to my daughter. She jumped off of Brynn's lap and into my arms. "Hey, Daddy's going to take Mummy out tonight. You're going to stay with Auntie Brynn and NiNi. You better behave, do you understand?" I asked my child. She nodded quickly. "Give Mummy a kiss so we can go." I instructed setting her down on her feet. Darcy raced to Enola and kissed her cheek lightly.
"Have fun Mummy." Darcy giggled. Enola laughed as well, kissing Darcy once more.
"I left emergency numbers on the counter. There's stuff to make dinner in there and she's got snacks in the pantry. Don't let her eat after nine and nothing to drink ten minutes before bedtime." Enola informed Niall and Brynn. "And I laid pajamas out for her. If she asks you to read to her before bed, she really likes How Do I Love You and Guess How Much I Love You. Um, her teddy and the pixie need to be in her bed with her and..." I stopped Enola from talking.
"Noli, they know. You and Darcy only spent a month on tour with us. They know." I chuckled.
"I just don't want to forget anything." Enola whispered shyly.
"You guys go. Have fun. We've got it." Niall laughed. Enola nodded and walked toward the door. I thanked Niall and Brynn before following Enola.

I led Enola into the restaurant with a smile. She looked extremely nervous. It was a really nice restaurant with an abundance of people. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders after releasing her hand. She looked up at me with shocked eyes.
"Harry," She murmured. "What if someone takes a picture of us together?"
I shrugged, "I don't care." She seemed a bit upset. "Noli, Liam is married now. Niall has been seeing Brynn for over a year and Louis is always with a girl. I don't think that anyone is really going to care if I'm seen out and about with the mother of my child. Just relax."
"Well, no one knows about Darcy. I don't...I don't want us to hurt your image." Enola replied as we were led to our table.
I turned to her in the middle of the restaurant, "I don't give a damn about my image. You and Darcy are what I care about. I love you two. I'm going to have you and her long after the image is faded and the spotlight is gone." She looked a bit embarrassed but nodded anyway. I pulled her along to the table. I apologized to the hostess for taking too long as she placed us at our table. Enola slid into the round booth and thanked the hostess sweetly. I sat down next to Enola but keeping a distance that made her comfortable. I smiled when she moved closer to me.
She placed her hand on my thigh, "I didn't mean it like that. I just don't want to cause a problem for you."
I shook my head, "I don't care about other people. I care about you and our daughter. I can handle everything else if I've got you two on my side." Enola placed her hand on my face and stroked my cheek lightly. "Don't worry so much. I brought you out so you could relax." I said brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Enola leaned forward and kissed my cheek gently. I couldn't help but drop my head to smile. The smallest gestures of affection from her started a fire in my soul. "Come on. Let's get some dinner so we can go on with the next part of this adventure." I urged her to look at her menu.

"A movie, Harry?" Enola asked in a giggle as we pulled into the theater parking lot.
I smiled and nodded, "But you're going to love this." I cut the engine of the car then opened my door. I ran around the car before Enola could open her own door. I pulled her door open as she was reaching for it. She gazed at me with shocked eyes. I held my hand out to her to help her from the Rover. She placed her hand in mine then stood gracefully. She adjusted her dress slightly before allowing me to take her hand. As we walked side by side I felt something that I hadn't felt since we were together. I felt peace walking beside her, like I did on the streets of Venice. I turned my head to examine her. Enola seemed relaxed and comfortable. She held herself with the confidence that I loved. Her eyes stared straight ahead like she didn't even care what the people around us thought. I smiled to myself when I felt her start to stroke my knuckles. Something she did to let me know she could feel what I was thinking. As we entered the theater, Enola gasped. She smacked me in the chest out of excitement.
"HARRY! Oh my Gosh!" She squealed. I laughed and kissed her head gently.
"This place only plays old, black and white films. Tonight just happens to be the old romance movies. Your favorite." I murmured to her.
Her eyes held more excitement as she gazed up at me, "Harry, I am going to be crying all over the place." She seemed a little disappointed. I smirked and reached into my jacket pocket. I pulled out a pack of tissue and placed it in her hand.
"I came prepared." I chuckled. She stood on her toes and kissed my cheek again. I wrapped my arm around her waist as we walked toward the kiosk to buy tickets. I felt my heart racing when I saw the way she was smiling. Instead of seeing the strong woman I loved, I saw the sweet, playful girl that I adored. The light in her eyes was making me melt. I couldn't believe how just a smile from her affected my emotions. She was not like any other woman I had ever met, but I knew that the first time I saw her. I wanted to pull her body against mine and kiss her passionately. I wanted her to know how much I loved every side of her.

Enola rested her head on my shoulder as she watched the movie with sad eyes. We were watching The Philadelphia Story. It wasn't her all time favorite but she loved it. I pulled her closer when I heard her sniffle quietly. I rested my head on hers as she wiped tears from her eyes. She pulled away from me for a moment to lift the armrest between us. She snuggled into my side much like she would when we would watch television together at home. I couldn't help but smile. This is the way it was supposed to be from the beginning. We were supposed to have romantic dates out in the open. She was supposed to hold my hand in public and cuddle me where everyone would notice. I loved every moment I spent with her up until we parted but I hated hiding. I wanted to shout it from the rooftops that I loved her and she loved me. I wanted everyone to see me kiss her sweetly and hold her hand. I wanted everyone to see us smile at each other. I wanted people to know that I could make her laugh like no one else could. I kissed her hair lightly and brushed it away from her face and neck. Enola wiped more tears from her eyes and held me tighter as the most famous line of the movie was delivered: "I don't want to be worshiped. I want to be loved."

Roman Holiday. Enola's all time favorite black and white movie. A princess on vacation gets caught up in a whirlwind romance with a journalist. I chuckled when I realized the slight irony of her favorite movies. They had many similarities between our life together. Enola looked up at me curiously hearing my chuckle. She was crying once again. The movie was nearly over and she was a mess. I wiped tears from her cheeks as I kissed her forehead. She smiled weakly then returned her head to my shoulder. She rested her hand on my chest over my heart. I placed my hand over hers. I couldn't help but laugh again as she slipped her hand into my shirt seeing as I left it as unbuttoned as I could. The feel of her fingers and palm on my skin made me shudder. Her hands were warm and soft. She stroked my pec slowly with her thumb. This was how it was supposed to be.

Enola and I walked into the house laughing quietly. She was telling me how she loved the night out even though she cried through most of it.
"Thank you so much, Harry." Enola smiled at me as I shut the door. "I had so much fun." She said as she leaned against my chest, gazing into my eyes.
I pushed a lock of hair off her face, "Of course, baby." I knew calling her baby was an old habit but it felt right. We went on a date to reconnect after me being gone for a while.
She cupped my cheek gently, "You're a good man, Harry Styles." I leaned forward and she stood on her toes. Just as my lips were going to touch hers, we were interrupted.
"Did you two have fun?" Niall asked from the doorway. Enola backed away from me quickly and nodded. I glared at Niall and Brynn. I was going to kiss her. She was going to kiss me. It could've been the night that we agreed to be together for real.
"What did you guys do?" Brynn asked of Enola with a huge grin.
"Harry took me to dinner then we went to a theater that only plays the classic black and whites. It was amazing. We watched The Philadelphia Story and Roman Holiday." Enola gushed at Brynn.
"Oh, your favorites. How lovely." Niall smirked at the both of us mischievously.
"Mummy! Mummy!" Darcy called from her room. Enola sighed heavily before turning to me.
She placed her hand on my chest and kissed my cheek, "I'm going to see what she needs then I am going to bed. It's late for this old lady." I chuckled and kissed her cheek. "Goodnight, Harry." She murmured to me.
"Night Noli." I replied just as softly. Enola wished Brynn and Niall a goodnight then headed up the stairs to check on our shouting daughter. As soon as I heard Darcy's door open, I glared at Niall. "She was going to kiss me, Niall. And you ruined it." I sneered at him.
"Oh if it was going to happen tonight, she would've done it before she walked up the stairs. It's not in the cards tonight, mate." Niall replied casually.
"She wouldn't because you're standing there." I said raising my voice a little.
"Bullshit. She's not shy." Niall scoffed at me.
I glared at him again, "Run."
He looked confused, "What?" I held up my hand and turned to walk out of the room to cool off. But the thought of Enola writhing underneath me after removing her black dress, popped into my mind.
I turned to Niall once again, "Run, Niall." Brynn giggled as I lunged at Niall and he took off. Anger flooded my body as I chased my best mate around the house.
