Dreams.
LOUIS' POV
I was awoken by the sound of feet shuffling. I opened my eyes and saw Claire walking over to the fire that was close to dying. She grabbed two pieces of wood and placed them on the fire, and just sat there staring at the fire.
It was still dark outside, so it must be two or three in the morning. I stayed quiet and watched as she grabbed a random stick, and poked the ashes and burnt pieces of wood.
Claire sighed and hugged her knees, and all of a sudden broke out into quiet sobs. My curiosity was everywhere, why was she crying? Part of me was a little annoyed because I was trying to sleep, but I felt bad for her. Ew, why did I feel bad for her?
I was horrible at comforting people, so I just stared at the cave walls and listened to the quiet sons echo. They weren't loud enough to wake anyone up, but if you were awake you would hear them.
Claire stopped crying after two minutes or so. I looked over at her and she stood up and wiped her face, then walked over toward the exit of the cave. Oh hell no, was she trying to leave?
She ran out of the cave and that's when I reacted. I grabbed my gun and made sure I had a few rounds, then ran. I always slept with shoes on in case of an emergency, but here's Claire making a run for it.
I was a few yards behind her, and she didn't seem to see or hear me. She was still crying and she kept running, and she was barefoot. There's sharp rocks and thorns here, how is she running barefoot?
All of a sudden, Claire just collapsed, her hands supporting her. She was on her knees crying, one hand on the floor and the other covering her face. I stopped a few feet away from her, I had the feeling she wasn't trying to escape.
The moonlight shone brightly, and you could blood all over her. On her knees, feet and hands from the thorns and rocks. She didn't seem fazed at all from the pain, I just wanted to know what was going on in her bloody mind.
"Claire..." I took a few steps toward her.
She gasped and faced me, "I-I wasn't running away, I was just-"
"I know, but what happened?" I asked her.
She turned away from me and took a deep breath. "Just a dream."
I took another step toward her, "Well, whatever the dream was, it made you bleed all over."
Claire looked at her hands and just stared, "I didn't even notice."
I pursed my lips and helped her up, "Come on, I'll take you back to the cave."
"No, I need fresh air." She argued.
I rolled my eyes, "Claire there's wolves out here, if they smell blood they'll attack. Let's at least get you washed up."
She hesitated and nodded. I picked her up and carried her all the way back to the cave. One thing I noticed is how light she is, it's almost unhealthy. We've been feeding her and giving her water, how come she's loosing so much weight?
"Okay this should be fine for now." I finally said once I cleaned all her cuts.
She just stared at the fire that she fed earlier. It was kind of freaking me out, why is she acting so weird? I mean it was just a dream, why did it fuck her up so much?
"Claire, what was the dream about?" I finally asked.
Claire just shook her head, "It doesn't matter, it was just a stupid nightmare."
"Well you ran out into the woods early in the morning, and hurt yourself so it does matter." I crossed my arms and looked at her.
"Again, it was just a stupid nightmare. I don't usually get them, but whenever I do, I just need fresh air." She mumbled.
God just fucking tell me. "Okay, can you tell me what you dreamed about through?"
She stood up and walked to where she was sleeping, "No, just drop it."
I groaned and walked back to my place and leaned against the wall, "Well now I'm awake thank to you."
"I-I'm sorry, really I wasn't going to run away. I was just-"
"Getting fresh air, I heard you the first time. Just go back to sleep, Claire. I'll take care of you in the morning."
