Scream For Me

"solo rider"

"Absolutely not." my arms were folded tightly across my chest as it rose and fell due to something I could only describe a pure rage — and a slight bellyache from a recently devoured hotdog, but that was beside the subject.

Olivia whimpered with her bottom lip childishly protruding as if she thought she was able to crack my hard exterior. "You cannot just refuse me of my love life, Remi!"

Olivia had a relatively strong character; physically as well as psychologically. With her blinding blonde locks all the way to her unmistakably blue eyes, she could stop traffic if she really wanted to. The thing I hated the most was having stand next to her, she had all the attention she could possibly get and knew it too, whereas I was simply just seen as 'The Chick Standing Next To The Hot One'. However, don't mistake that she wasn't the best friend I could ever ask for but she was nonetheless ridiculously irritating at times like these. You see, the thing you must know about Olivia is that she was a strong hopeless romantic and therefore fell in love quickly and hard too, when her heart was set on something she was set and there was no convincing her otherwise. Stubborn, if you ask me.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes,"Love life? You have got to be kidding me."

Blinking, she gawped at me as if I was accusing her of a crime, "I do not kid Remi, I love — I sense a good one this time." her hand flew up and she rested her palm of her chest, pretending to swoon.

"Just five minutes ago the hot dog guy was a good one this time."

Grumbling, she sipped at the slush puppy that she'd so rudely stolen from my bare hands. "Yeah, well obviously the hotdog threw my senses off."

"And now we're going to blow chunks of that hot dog out on a rollarcoaster that, may I add, is practically touching the Earth's atmosphere."

"So, is that a yes or..."

"Christ on a bike." I mumbled with my eyes squeazed in dread. "Fine, whatever!" I admitted defeat.

"Whoo!" She cheered, obnoxiously throwing her arms up.

"— but you owe me a slushee afterwards!" I stuttered.

"Yeah, yeah, details, details. Now come on, we need to get behind him and his friend!" she grabbed my forearm, leaving me stumbling behind her squealing self as we neared the line to a death trap on wheels.

Stopping behind the males who my friend had so obviously taken a liking to, she rose her eyebrows at me. I gagged as she not-so-subtly eyed up his backside, biting her lip and confirming her prey. A target had been set and it was either going to go down one of two ways: {1} she was going to fall into an immensely deep, clishé puppy love and get her heart broken. Or {2} she was going to have a fling and leave the poor victim heart broken instead.

There was no in between.

"You know, Remi, you're right; this is exactly what I need." She breathed out in a sigh, so loud that the ears of the boys in front visibly perked up in interest.

"huh?" I uttered, staring at her in confusion.

Sending me a look that almost had me cowering, she returned back to her rehearsed façade, "I need to get some thrill in my life, live a little. I can't keep moping over Sean. If he cheated on me then it obviously wasn't meant to be..."

"who the hell is Se—"

"We should go skydiving!" She burst out, causing anyone in a five mile radius to jump in surprise. "Or scuba diving, I'm sure my Dad could lend us the yacht for the day."

I was totally clueless and unaware what she was playing at but what I was sure of was that her family most definitely did not own a yacht of any kind. If this was her game plan then I was more than ready to watch it crash and burn in flames.

Deciding to humor her, I breathed out an artificial sigh. "But would he let us keep the champagne?"

"Of course, alcohol will surely block out the pain."

My face twisted into a grimace, holding back a gag from her dramaticness. "Olivia, no." I cooed. "Don't let him get you back into that place again." She stared at me wide-eyed and worried for where I was going with this, "do you recall what happened last time? You forgave him and let him break your heart all over again. One day you'll find someone, perhaps by fate or perhaps even a rollarcoaster ride, and they will love you for your personality not your money."

"Excuse me?"

Myself and Olivia glanced up from our award winning performance and untangled ourself from our emotional state. The attractive blonde that Olivia had pined over had turned his back, staring at us mid-confession.

"I couldn't help but hear about you're breakup," Olivia nodded, solemnly, her blond curls dancing over her shoulders graciously. "Look whoever this guy is, is obviously a jerk and doesn't know what a beautiful girl he had."

"Wow, thank you." She blushed and released a shy giggle. "You're not too bad yourself."

Their eyes connected in only a way I'd seen in the romance movies that I curse at in the evenings. Olivia's face resembled something similar to the emoji with lovehearts for eyes and I resisted the urge to hiss at them both. I was a mixture between wanting to gag and wanting to applaud her at the same time.

"This may sound bazaar, but, do you want to ride with me?"

I cannot believe it had actually worked. She had actually pulled it off, she deserved a Grammy — or a slap on my behalf (probably both if I'm gonna' tell the truth).

"I'd love to." She said will a grin.

"Wait, what?" I gasped in disbelief.

"And we can maybe get lunch after?" He proposed, resembling something like The Cheshire Cat.

"Do I even have any say in this?" I attempted to ask, only to be rudely shooed away by Olivia's manicured hand.

"Yes, do you like Italian?"

"Really, we're just going to ignore me now?" I scoffed and waved my hand in her star-struck face.

"Nu-uh, gives me stomach cramps."

Letting out a sigh of relief, I turned to him. "Great, so this can't really work out, you aren't the one for her — she loves Italian." I explained, shrugging my shoulders in fake remorse.

She squealed, "oh my gosh, me too!"

"What!" I yelped.

He gasped, "no way!"

"yes way!" She mocked.

"I think she means to say 'no way'. What the hell Olivia, you are quater Italian!"

"Do you like Chinese?"

"I love chineese!"

"Then it's settled! Right after we get of the ride we'll go get some chineese, I know a good place not so far from here."

"Awesome! Remi can get another ride home anyway, can't you Remi?"

"Can I?" My brow was risen and I was sick of trying to depart them from whatever sick, twisted curse they'd got them self into. "You do realise that I'm not going to ride on my own up there, you were the one who forced me here in the first place!"

She wafted her hand in my face dismissively, "You'll live." she giggled as if my pain was amusing. I scrunched my nose up in disgust. "Oh hey look! The line is moving!"

"Unbeleivable." I grumbled, waddling forward with the rest of the line.

"Excuse me, miss?" I heared a small voice peep and only when I looked down did I realise it was one of the female workers of the park.

I barely suppressed my grin.

"Oh no, are you gonna kick me off? Gosh darn it," I pulled out a signature Olivia pout and knocked my fist lightly against the cart. "That's a real shame but oh well, suppose I better go leave--"

"No, no, you're not being kicked off." she shook both her hand and her head slightly, causing my releived posture to collapse. "You're one of the solo riders here and to make more room we need you to move up front with the other person so that the line goes through more smoothly."

I groaned as she assisted me to lift the bar that had rested on my thighs. "Please tell me it's not some creepy guy." she giggled but didn't respond. "Please?" I begged, feeling butterflies rise in my stomach for all the wrong reasons.

She lead me down the carts, closer and closer to the front. I gulped. I was not good with heights, especially from the front.

Just as we were behind the very front of the ride, the lady hesitated, looking over at me from her shoulder. "I'm not supposed to say this about customers, due to my job," she smirked at me and her thin brows wiggled a little. "but creepy isn't exactly the word I'd use."

I blinked and she walked away ominously, sending me nothing but a suspicious wink before disappearing once again.

"If I get violated, I'm so going to sue." I murmured and with all my will power, I forced myself to the very first cart and looked around the empty seat.

"Hey, I'm Harry."

Notes

Hello, this is the very start of this story and I'm not going to beat around the bush but it may be slightly rubbish because I was eating while writing and we all know how food can distract. -mxndosus
