Chapter 17: Zayn’s POV: Lunch Date
After our lunch at Vicky’s Diner, we were both full because of all the fries we ate.
“Next time I pick the place” Veronica said as she drank her soda.
“I don’t think so babe” I responded as Veronica continued to drink her soda as she began to shift her head side to side.
“Come on, next time we need to go where I want” She pleaded as I drove into the school parking lot.
“Where do you want to go next time?” I questioned as I tried to look for a parking space that had some shade.
“Five Guys Burgers! That’s the place to get some awesome fries!” I shut off the engine, taking one more drink from the soda that was left over as I listened to Veronica. She was beaming when I turned to face her.
“Have you eaten there? It’s amazing!” Veronica added as she took her seat belt off, she was about to unlock the door until I locked it again. She looked at me suspiciously.
“I always open the door for you okay?” I took off my seat belt and headed to her side and opened the door, closing it behind her and locking it again.
“Why are you always so pushy?” She chuckled. Before responding, I began walking her to class.
“Fine I won’t open the door for you anymore” I finally responded once the final bell for 5th period had rung.
“Fine” she raised one of her eyebrows and smiled as if didn’t believe me; quite frankly I didn’t believe myself either.
“I’ll meet you outside after class” I got used to walking Veronica to class, and from the looks of it, she didn’t mind. She nodded as she went inside her Physics class. After she disappeared I made my way to the P.E. lockers since my 5th period was athletic conditioning.
I walked into weight room a little late but Coach Ross didn’t mind. Since this class was only for the soccer players, all the guys were there. A few nods and handshakes were interchanged as I made my way towards the weights.
“What’s up with you and that one chick?” I turned my attention to Gabriel and Liam who were right next to me.
“That my friend is none of your business plus it’s no big deal” I chuckled and turned my attention back to the weights.
“Oh so we can get at it as well? You know, she’s pretty hot. Malik can’t just keep that piece of ass all to himself!” said Gabriel as the rest of the guys in the room listened. My blood was boiling.
“Don’t talk about her like that. And no she’s all mine, you get near her and I’ll beat the shit out of you” I couldn’t think straight. No one should be alive if they ever spoke about Veronica like that.
“Whoa. Zayn he’s just playing man, calm down” Liam as always was trying to ease the tension but once everyone in the room made their way towards our direction, I was about to lose it.
“Mr. Malik, if you don’t get your anger under control, I have no choice but to take you out of the team” Coach Ross was a cool guy but I wasn’t in the mood for any of this shit. I ended up leaving the room and made my way towards the track.
Once I was out of that class, I made my way towards Veronica’s. I saw her standing where I had told her while she spoke to Glimmer. I snaked my arm around her waist and kissed her cheek. Niall then came and walked away with Glimmer.
“Do you work tonight?” I asked Veronica. I was hoping she didn’t.
“Oh, yeah I do actually. 6 to 10 again” she sighed.
“Can you just not go? I kind of want to take you out tonight”
“I… I just can’t not show up… how about tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow, yeah sure” my tone wasn’t the friendliest but I didn’t mean it intentionally. I walked her to her next class and continued the routine we established. After school was over, we walked towards my car.
“Um Zayn can I ask you something” she took me by surprise.
“Go for it babe”
“Are we… you now official now?” she sounded nervous, I thought she knew by now.
“Well obviously. Now c’mon get in” I could tell she wasn’t expecting my response which only made it even better.
