Shooting Star

Here We Go Again

*1 day later*

Alayna’s POV:
“So is Jared coming today?” My sister suddenly came out of the kitchen and I was startled by her. “I don’t think so. He said he’ll spend the day with his family.” I stood up straight and followed my sister with my eyes.

“Aw, we could really use some customer magnet.” I stood by the cashier while my sister did some tidying up with some tables. “Yeah, we’re pretty slow today. I told him if he wants, he could bring his folks over.” After some tables, my sister went back behind the counter and fixed our display.

“He really should. Anyway, how was your day yesterday?” I haven’t really told the whole story to my sister and I know that she was really intrigued. “Well, we met at our usual and he surprised me there then we went here and ate some cupcakes then we went by his place to greet his parents.” My sister nodded approvingly; she really likes Jared even though my mom doesn’t. My mom thinks of Jared as a bad influence on me even though he’s clearly not.

“When are you two meeting again?” I took my phone out to look if he texted me but I was disappointed at the lack of messages in it. “Tomorrow, if I’m not going to be too busy at school.” I guess he’s just pretty busy with his family.

“Did you tell mom though that he’s back?” I nodded my head and sighed. “She knows. She’s not happy though and I guess that’ll affect everything too.” My mom was pretty strict on me about boys. She’s very picky on who I should and shouldn’t date.

“Yeah, if she lets you out of the house then you really should throw a party.” I let out a desperate giggle then sighed again. My sister went back to the kitchen and back to baking.

“Hi, welcome to SweetSters.” I heard the bell ring and I looked up. “Uhm, is there an Alayna here?” My eyes widened with shock at the familiar boy in front of me. “Harry!”

Harry’s POV:
“Alayna!” I walked closer to the counter but she took a step back. “Wh-wh-what are you doing here?” Her reaction made my heart drop; I expected her to be happy, not scared.

“I came to see you. I was hoping we could talk.” I dropped my bags and laid both of my hands on the counter. “No, no, no! This can’t be.” Out of shock, tears suddenly fell out of her eyes.

“Alayna, please, don’t cry. I just want to talk.” Alayna walked out off the counter. “Uhm, Lauren, I’ll just go out for a bit.” A voice of another girl came from inside and after hearing her response, Alayna walked towards the door.

“Harry, why the hell are you here?!” She turned around and her face are now full of tears. “I just want to talk. I just want to see you one more time.” I walked towards her one more time but she stepped another step back.

“This isn’t supposed to happen. Not now, not ever.” She turned around and walked back and forth. “Why? Because we’re not destined for each other?” I took her by the arm and spun her around.

“What?!” She pulled her arm away and took another step back. “I’m hoping then that destiny could give us a fair chance.” She let out a huff and wiped away her tears. “You still remember that?” I sighed and massaged my forehead.

“You think I actually forgot?! Heck, I never stopped reading it, over and over again.” She was still wide-eyed with my response and it seems that she was left speechless.

“I actually believed that for a moment, you know; all that destiny crap. I actually believed it for a whole year. I wouldn’t have stopped believing it if it weren’t for our friends. YOUR friends, Alayna.” She sat down the curb and looked up at me.

“I just realized Alayna that all that destiny crap, that’s not true. It’s not true. We all have choices. I’m crappy at making one but we all have choices. All of us, Alayna.” I sat down next to her and looked at her.

“Then why didn’t you call me? Why hasn’t anyone called me to let me know that you were alright?” She looked at me and she started to cry again. “It was your choice to leave us, Alayna. It was your choice to leave.”

“And you don’t think that I always kill myself every day for that choice I made? I do Harry.” I took her hand and cupped it with mine. “And that’s why I’m asking you. Can we at least start all over again?”
