Shooting Star

*1 year later*

Alayna’s POV:
“Hey, just running a little bit late. Meet you at the usual?” I smiled at the text then took my apron off. “That’s fine. See ya. Love you!” I pressed sent and went out the door.

“Hey, Alayna! Where are you going?” I waved at my sister and smiled. “Oh, I see.” I laughed at my sister’s reaction; she immediately knew what’s up.

“I’ve been waiting for this day since forever. I can’t believe that it’s here!” I squealed out of excitement and I felt my heart race. “I’m going to see him again. God, how I miss his face.” I threw all of my things inside my car and went in myself.

“Can’t wait to see you. I love you too.” His message made my heart flutter and I couldn’t help but smile. It was a Sunday morning and from where I’m from, that’s the day with the least traffic.

“Good thing it’s Sunday.” There were at most twenty cars at the road right now and I was glad that it wasn’t much of a hassle driving today. I felt anxious, happy and a little bit reminiscent. It’s been a while since I’ve last seen him and I was nervous. What if he doesn’t feel the same way about me now? What if the year we spent apart made him realize that I wasn’t worth it at all?

“He loves you, Alayna. He just said so.” I shook my head and tried to concentrate on the road. After about fifteen minutes, I finally arrived at our usual meeting place. I walked to the bench that we usually sit on and sat there.

“I can’t believe a year ago, I was a complete mess sitting on this bench.” I looked around and smiled at the thought of how much things have changed. I looked down at myself and realized that I have changed a lot myself. I don’t dress the same anymore and nor do I fix my hair or my make-up the same.

“Miss me?” A huge pair of hands covered my eyes and a familiar voice ran through my ears. “Oh my gosh!” I jumped off of my seat the moment that I realized that it was him. “Jared! I missed you so much!”

Harry’s POV:
“Hey, meet you up at the usual?” I groaned at the ringing of my phone. “Shut up!” I threw my phone away and hid my face under the covers. Ever since the day I lost Alayna, I was nothing but a mess.

“Dude! C’mon out! You’ve been there for almost three days.” I heard Louis’ voice from outside the door. “I’m coming in!” I buried myself under more pillows and groaned louder. “Go away! I’m sleeping!” Louis’ footsteps grew louder as he walked towards my bed.

“Harry, its seven p.m. No one sleeps this early. C’mon, we’ll eat out.” Louis pulled all the covers and I felt as if I were naked. “Give that back, Louis!” I tugged the end that was at my reach but Louis pulled harder.

“Ow!” He pulled so hard that I was also pulled down to the ground. “C’mon buddy. Why don’t you get dressed? I’ll wait for you.” He tapped my shoulder and pushed me towards the bathroom.

“Wow! I even look like a complete mess.” I stared at my reflection and a stranger stared back at me. He looked miserable, sleep-deprived, and a little more miserable. “What’s taking so long?” Louis knocked on the door and I knew that was my cue to get moving.

“Give me two minutes more.” I turned the tap on then I washed my face. “I’m ready.” I wiped my face and stood at the door. “No, you’re not. Go change! You’ve been wearing that since the last time I saw you.”

“I’m fine. We’re only gonna eat, right?” Louis pushed me towards my closet and pulled a shirt and a pair of pants. “Go!” I walked towards the bathroom and got changed. “I’m not in the mood for this.” I sighed then went to Louis who was growing impatient already.

“Who’s going to be there anyway?” Louis drove as fast as he could and we arrived at the restaurant in minutes. “Harry!” Jade hugged me as soon as she saw me.

“Hey.” I gave a faint smile and we all sat down. “It’s been a while since we last saw you. Louis, how did you drag him out?” Everybody laughed and smiled; they filled the room with love but I still felt miserable inside.

“We have a surprise for you, Harry.” Jade stood up and everybody looked like they were at the edge of their seat. “What’s this?” Liam handed me an envelope and everybody waited for me to answer it.

“Open it.” I was anxious to open the envelope so I put it down on the table and pushed it towards the Liam again. “I can’t. I’m sorry.” The last time I opened an envelope, my whole life fell apart. How would I know that this one wouldn’t do the same?

“Trust us. You’ll be happy once you open that.” Liam pushed the envelope towards me and my hands shook as I reached out for it.

“What’s this?” I took out a piece of paper and a plane ticket. “It’s a ticket to Canada. Specifically to where Alayna is. Her address is there as well. You’re flying tomorrow to see her.”
