Moving To England

Chapter Seventy-Two

*Destiny’s POV*
*Friday, Afterschool*

The ten of us were hanging out at the park Friday after school, before the final week before exams were upon us. The evening sun made the shadows were now twice as long as themselves. The air was damp and fresh smelling faintly of a car’s exhaust fumes, the ten of us were hanging out at the park, Friday after school. It was just before the final week before exams were upon us.

We had just played several rounds of football before collapsing onto the grass, exhausted.

“We totally won that,” Niall declared, laying his head on June’s lap who was leaning against the tree.

“Oh please. You guys cheated!” Louis demanded.

“Uhm, no. We don’t cheat, unlike you guys.” I huffed.

“Babe, please. You guys cheated. Just admit it.” Harry laughed at me, as he was playing with my hair.

“Hey!” June budded in, “You guys are just bummed that you lost to us.”

“Uhm, we didn’t lose though.” Mabel insisted.

“The goal is between those two trees Mabel, you didn’t get the ball anymore near that.” Elizabeth laughed.

“Oh, shut up, it was good enough.” Mabel shooed her off.

*Harry’s POV*

Laughing we through crude comments back and forth, until we were all out of breath from laughing. By the time everyone had gone silent, everyone was on the ground looking up at the sky. We tried to figure out what each cloud looked like, coming up with the craziest theories we enjoyed the rest of our evening.

I was doing just wonderful next to Destiny, as I kissed her every so often completely forgetting about the bet, unlike Liam gave me a death glare.

Immediately, my breath left me. I couldn’t breathe, it felt as if someone were choking me. I wasn’t ready, but I had to do it. ‘Power through it, Styles. She’ll forgive you in time.’

“Hey, Destiny? Can I talk to you? Over there.” I say, motioning my head to a tree a little far off from where our friends were seeing.

“Yeah, of course, Babe.” Destiny nodded, as she got up, and we walked over to the tree, leaving everyone behind.

Looking back, I see Niall mouth, ‘Good luck’. I nod, as my heart begins racing faster and faster. Trying to formulate the words in my lips.

*Destiny’s POV*

“Harry, are you alright?” I ask him, seeing his eyes getting red.

“Yeah, Baby. Of course.” He quickly adds, “How about we get away from here. I’ll take you somewhere special.”

“Really, where?”

“I just want to give you something,”

“What is it?”

“A sweet memory of me – of us,” His voice is distant, his tone is reminiscent.

‘Is something wrong? Has he been fighting with his friend? It’s probably just the exams killing him,’ I concluded. “A sweet memory? Harry, we have so many amazing memories.” I say as he gives me a small smile, through his sad eyes and a slight shrug of his shoulder.

He pulls me close to his chest, I could feel his heart racing quickly. “I love you,” he mutters into my his. He pulls away, only to lean in again, but this time to kiss my lips softly.

“I love you too, Harry,” I say against his mouth. He winces but quickly recovers and continues to kiss me. ‘That was weird,’ I thought, ‘Why would he flinch when I tell him that I love him?’ I decided to repeat it to see his reaction, “I love you, Harry. I love you so much.” He doesn’t respond. Instead, he quickly pulls away from my lips and leads me into the car, quiet/

“Harry. You're so weird,” I tell him, worried. He tenses for a second before relaxing himself slightly.

“I know.”

“Why?”

“June been a long week.”

“Really? Do you want to talk about it?” I ask, not entirely sure I believed him. He bites down on his bottom lip and shakes his head no. “Alright, Babe. Just know that if you do, I’ll listen full-heartedly.”

“I know,” He says, and with that, he was quiet the rest of the way. He voice was rough, and his eyes seemed to be close to tears.

Soon enough we pulled up to a restaurant, one of my favourites. It was a cute little Chinese place, Harry had always taken me every time I was freaking out over the school.

“Oh my gosh! Yes! This is just what we need, right now.” I say happily, causing Harry to look over at me and smile. And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me. “Oh baby, I love your smile,” I say, cupping his face as I kissed him gently.

He slowly pulls away to just stare into my eyes, smiling. I smile back at him, before giving him another quick kiss on his nose. Harry shakes his head a little, giving a small laugh, he gets out of the car.

We entered the building and took a seat at a table across from one another and ordered. The waiter brings us some salad with ranch dressing, neither us liking salad unless it was with balsamic dressing.

Harry reaches down to grab a piece of lettuce, drenched in ranch and gives me a mischievous smirk.

“What are you – Aah! Gross! Harry!” I cried, as he threw the piece of lettuce at me, making it stick right onto my nose. I wiped off the ranch and gave him a playful frown, while he was dying in a pit of laughter. “I can still smell the ranch no matter how hard I try to wipe my face.”

Clearly, I wasn’t about to let him get away with that. Snatching a tomato from the bowl I threw it at his face, and it hits his forehead before bouncing off quickly and hitting the floor. I couldn’t help me but laugh his experience when the tomato jumped off his skin.

Holding my sides, I tried to contain my loud laughing but failed miserably. “You – your face – when the tomato …” I choked out between my laughs, which Harry soon joined in. I tried to through another piece of lettuce at him, but I completely missed, and it ended up landing on the head of a man sitting in the booth behind Harry. It landed in his hair, and he probably didn’t even notice. Immediately, Harry and I erupted into a fit of laughter and continued to mess around, until our meals came.

“That was so much fun, Harry. I loved it.” I say as we climbed into the car, after finishing our meal.

“No problem. I had a perfect time, too. Did you see the man, he still never found that piece of lettuce in his hair!” Harry laughs, “You’ve not incredible aim, Love.”

“Oh, shut up,” I laugh, slapping his arm playfully.

As we pull up to my house, seeing that it was too dark for the others to still be at the park, Harry becomes extremely quiet, making me incredibly nervous.

“Do you want to come in?” I ask him, as we were standing outside of his car.

“I can’t,” His voice breaks.

“Harry! You’ve been acting strange all night. What’s wrong. Did I say something? Did I do something wrong?”

“Oh no. Destiny, you did nothing wrong. Absolutely nothing. You could never do anything wrong. You’re so perfect, and I love you very much,” He says, turning to me, his eyes were blood-shot red. I’ve never seen him like this. ‘Is he crying?’ I thought, scared.

“Harry. Baby, please. Tell me what’s wrong. You’re scaring me. Please.” I say softly, as I reach up to touch his cheek lightly. He closed his eyes, and his lips begin to tremble. “Please.”

“I – I can’t.” He stutters. I stand closer to him, placing my hands on his, as I looked up at him.

“Please.”

“Destiny, no ...” He says again. “I need to …”

“What? Harry, what do you need?”

“I can’t …” he shakes his head and tears begin to roll down his red check.

“Baby! What? What can’t you do? Please.” I cry, feeling my own tears trailing down my neck. Cupping his face as his head drops and he stares at the ground, as more tears fall out.

“I love you.” He says quietly, his eyes slowly meeting mine. My heart drops as his green eyes intensely gaze at me, before they look back down at the ground. He steps forward and wraps his arms around my waist, his lips kissing my ear before whispering into it, “I love. No matter what I do. No matter what I’ve done. No matter – No,”

With his check next to mine, he beings sobbing. I could feel his chest shaking, as my tears being to trail down faster. With his lips, still near my ear, he pushes out the last few words, “No matter what, Destiny. I will always love you. Never forget that. Never forget me. Destiny, don’t you dare ever forget how I love you. Do you understand?”

“Harry, what are you doing? Please, you’re scaring me. What happened? Please tell me.” I cry, cupping his face, so our foreheads were touching.

“Promise me, Destiny,” Harry demands, his tears coming down a little slower.

“I promise, baby. I promise.” I quickly say.

With a nod, he spilt something into my hand. Giving me a passionate kiss on my lips, his hands held my wet faces. Quickly he pulled away and got into his car. I watched him pull away and drive down the road, probably to one of the boys’ houses.

Looking down at my hand I see a paper in my hand. It’s a letter. Looking up, I see Harry’s car vanish in the dark of the night. Nervously I looked back down at the letter.

I sit on the porch for at least an hour, silently crying. I haven’t opened the letter, but I can guess that it didn’t feel like good news. Harry’s final words replayed in my mind – it felt like a goodbye.

‘But why? Why would he be saying goodbye? What happened?’ I thought to myself. Slowly I picked myself up and went into my room, making sure not to let my parents notice me.

I couldn’t bring myself to open the letter. “I don’t want to say goodbye. We are still going to each other. He lives right across from me for goodness sake! And we’re in the same group of friends. And of course, I believe his words. He does love me. So, this can’t be goodbye.” I say out loud to myself.

After an hour of debating, I finally open the letter.

“No.”

“No.”

“Oh my gosh. Please. No.”

“Damn it! No!” I cried, throwing the letter across the room, I threw my pillows off my bed, letting out an inhuman cry.

“Destiny!” Mum cries, as she rushes towards me, cradling me, “Baby, what’s wrong?”

I let out a sob, as I let myself fall onto my Mum’s arms. She holds on to me, as I sobbed. Soon my Dad comes and tries to comfort me. I show them the letter as I continued to feel my heart being completely ripped out.
