Moving To England

Chapter Six

*Destiny’s POV*
*Same day*

Dad and I ate half the bowl of lasagne for lunch, saving the rest for dinner. After we each took a shower and changed into fresh, clean clothes, we went out to shop.

Dad and I went to several different stores. We picked out a couple of furniture, asking the works to keep the ones we liked on hold. Afterwards, we picked up several paint cans, tools and other materials we would need to paint our home, including a refrigerator. Alongside, we bought up some groceries, as well as junk food, for later.

By the time we drove back home, it was 4 in the afternoon.

Once we got home, Dad and I installed the fridge together. We finished the lasagne, despite that it was too early for dinner. Afterwards, we unpacked some more of our things until dad told me he had to go back out to buy a couple more things.

“You want to come along?” Dad asked. “Or do you want to get started on painting your room?”

“I am going to paint my room.” I decided.

“Alright, then.” Dad nodded, “I’ll be back in a bit.”

“Bye.” I waved to my dad.

I found the old table clothes dad left out. I scooped them up and carried them to the room I wanted, which was the first one to the right. It was right in front of my parent’s room. It’s small, and comfortable, just the way I like it.

I set out the old table clothes all over the empty room, to ensure that none of the blue paint would fall to the ground.

I went downstairs to retrieve the blue paint can. When I was midway up the staircase, someone knocked on the door. Gently placing the paint can on the floor, I went over to the front door to see who it was ... again!

'Third time since we came!' I thought to myself, with a giggle.

I swung open the door, to be met by the familiar set green eyes.

“Hey, Harry.” I smiled at him.

“Hi, Destiny.” He smiled back, “I thought if you wanted to come to the park with me, and you know meet some other people. Get to know the neighbourhood, yeah?”

“Oh! That would be fun, but I can’t right now, I was just about to start to paint my room.” I explained.

“Oh,” Harry said, his smile turning into a slight frown.

“Maybe next time?” I suggested, with a shrug.

“Yeah, uh, sure, I guess.” Harry murmured.

After a moment of awkward silence, I asked, “Do you want to help me?” I could notice the disappointment in his eyes when I said no, he probably didn't want me to notice, but boo-hoo.

“Sure. Why not?” Harry nodded with a smile.

“Great!” I laughed at his enthusiasm.

“I’ll just call my friends and tell them I can’t make it to the park,” Harry informed me.

“Yeah. Okay.” I nodded, “Meet me upstairs, the first room to the right.”

“Got it.” Harry nodded.

As I took the paint can upstairs, I heard him dialing his friend’s number.
