Moving To England

Chapter Twenty-Three

*Destiny’s POV*
*Same Day*

“Hey, Momma!” I called out to her, as she rushed down the stairwell.

“Destiny! Change quickly! They’ll be here soon.” Mom called to me, as she quickly set the table, still in her work clothes.

“Okay. Okay.” I say, calmly, “Let me help you.”

Setting the table, and fixing up the living room, dining room, and kitchen, Mum and I ran upstairs to our room to get changed. Taking quick showers, I threw on a simple outfit, leaving out the makeup. I wore a dark pink crop top, with a long pink maxi skirt. I put on a double band pandora ring and a pair of pink flower earrings. I brushed my hair back, letting it go loose.

Running back downstairs I helped my parents with some last minute setups, just as the doorbell rang.

“Destiny, hun, could you please go get the door, please?” Dad asked me. I nodded, as I swung open the door open for Harry and his Mum.

“Hi, Destiny!” Ms Cox exclaimed reaching for a hug. After giving her a quick hug, I made way for the two of them to come inside the house. I gave Harry a tiny smile, as I noticed his outfit. He wore a checkered button-up shirt, which hugged his figure, and skinny jeans.

“Hey, Annie.” Dad smiled at Ms Cox.

“Annie, dear, how are you feeling?” Mum asked her, embracing Ms Cox into a tight hug.

Harry and I awkwardly stood next to one another watching our parents.

The doorbell rang, again - It was Elizabeth’s parents, who had decided to join us for dinner. Elizabeth had texted me earlier saying she couldn’t come because of all the homework she had. Although, she promised to try and finish it quickly and get over as soon as she could.

After the five adults had exchanged hugs and hellos, the doorbell rang one last time. This time, a man, I didn’t recognise stood at the doorway.

“Ah, you must be Destiny!” The man exclaimed. I peered at Harry, looking for answers, who only returned an angry expression, not wanting to look at the man. “It’s been such a long time. The last I saw you, you were only a 7-year old baby.” I gave him a weary smile, thinking about how a seven-year-old couldn’t be a baby, but then again, some still call me a baby, to this day, despite me being sixteen now.

“Harry. How are you?” The man says, trying to reach for a hug, from Harry, who only stepped away from him.

“Desmond!” Dad and Mr Maxwell exclaimed, running towards the man.

“David! Max!” He exclaimed, embracing the two men.

“That’s my father,” Harry whispers me.

“I see.” I lightly giggle. Harry and I sat next to one another, at the dining table, eating our dinner in silence. The only time we spoke was when one of the adults asked a question. While on the other hand, the adults talked nonstop. I noticed Ms Cox and Mr Styles steal glances at one another, occasionally.

‘Aww. So cute!’ I smiled.

As Harry and I finish out the meal, Mum said, “You kids look incredibly bored. Why don’t you two go into the living room and watch a movie or something?”

“Yeah. Okay.” I nodded, anxious to leave. “Let’s go, Harry.” I quickly get up, retreating to the living room. Harry laughed, as he followed me, settling down the couch, as I put on a movie to watch.

I decided on, Flipped, before sitting on the sofa which was situated far away from Harry, not actually caring if I sat next to him, but it just felt weird if I did. To my unfortunate luck, he noticed my actions and gave a confused smile, as he raised an eyebrow.

“What?” I questioned him, with a shrug. He smirked, getting up and plopping himself next to me, letting our thighs brush up against one another. He threw his arms around my shoulder and lay back as the movie played.

Bewildered, I look up at him with a blank face. “Harry?” I Say.

“Yes?” He smirked.

“Up!” I order him.

“Huh?”

“Get up!”

Harry does as I tell him and gets up, as I did as well.

“Now lay down,” I say, pointing at the couch. He shrugs and lays down. “Good.” I smile, jumping on to sit on his thighs.

“Why is this necessary?” Harry questions me, placing one of his arms beneath his head, and the other on his stomach.

“To force you to keep your hands to yourself,” I say with a sly smile.

“Okay.” Harry laughed.

*Harry’s POV*

The movie continued on for about half an hour, but all I could think about was Destiny screaming last night. I had to ask her what happened. “Destiny?”

“Yeah?”

“What was with the screaming last night? My Mum said you had a nightmare. It seemed like a pretty horrible nightmare to me … I thought someone was attacking you.”

Silence.

“Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!” I screamed in a high-pitch voice, mocking her, with a light laugh, trying to ease the tension I built up. Don’t think that worked though because Destiny crossed her arms and looked the other way.

“It is rude to ignore people, Destiny,” I say.

“It is rude to mock people, Harry.” She mocks me, making me chuckle. She looks cute when she is angry …

“But seriously … that nightmare sounded pretty harsh.”

“Yeah … it was because of watching the conjuring movie.” Destiny mumbles.

“Yeah?” I smirk. “Let’s watch the movie again.”

“Oh no!! You can watch it on your own time!” she exclaimed. I laughed at her anger – so cute … really

‘Shut up, Harry!’ I ordered myself, shaking my head.

“Why not? I’ll be here! If you are scared, I’ll let you cuddle with me.” I smirked, fluttering my eyes, trying to get up, but the girl was still sitting on my thighs.

“Nope!” Destiny demands, placing her hands on my chest as she pushes me back onto the couch. “Just watch this. My friends say it's a good movie. So far, I am enjoying it.”

“Of course you are.” I laugh.

“Shhh.” Destiny hushed. Destiny continued to watch the movie, while I kept glancing at Destiny.

I looked at her carefully, as I barely got the chance to in the last two months that I’ve known her. Her caramel skin looked so soft… her eyes sparkling whenever she smiled … her smile always so big and bright, it would make anyone's day brighter. And the way her soft, black hair fell the side calmingly …

‘What’s going on with me …? When she rejected me … why did he hurt so bad? Arrrrrggghhh!!’ I thought, conflicted. I was shaken from my thoughts when I noticed Destiny had fallen asleep, her head leaning against the back of the couch, with her hands resting on her lap.

The position of her neck looked significantly uncomfortable. I got up, carefully pulling Destiny’s legs onto the couch – on top of my own, as I slowly brought her head down to rest on my chest so that she was sleeping comfortable on top of me.

I lay back down, as Destiny curled up on top of me. I placed one hand behind my head and the other on Destiny’s back. For a couple of moments, I watched Destiny sleep soundly. She looked so innocent, like a newborn baby. Slowly I drifted off to sleep, as well.

*Elizabeth’s POV*

Finally finishing up all my homework, and studying, I changed into something nicer, and walked over to Destiny’s place, as my parents were already there.

Mrs Baker opened up the front door, allowing me in.

“Hey, Mrs Baker,” I say to him.

“Hello, Elizabeth. Destiny is in the living room, with Harry.” She tells me, with a smile. “There is probably something you want to see.”

‘What? Why? What happened’ I thought, as her Mum lead me to the living room. I saw Destiny sleeping on top of Harry. He held Destiny close to him, as he too, was fast as well.

“Aww! They look so adorable together!” I squealed in joy, in a hushed voice, trying not to wake them.

‘I can’t wait to tell everyone! They look absolutely perfect together!’ I thought to myself.

“I know right.” Ms Cox commented, with a bright smile.

“Like they were meant for each other.” Mum awed.

“I entirely approve.” Mrs Baker giggled.

“Me too!” Ms Cox says.

Mom chuckled. “Remember, Desmond proposing to Annie, when Destiny was born. I’ve always thought that Destiny was somehow connected to Annie’s and Desmond’s relationship. I mean, just as you guys left, ” Mum says, talking to Mrs Baker, “Desmond left, as well. Now, look you all are back, and so is Desmond. He is back for Annie.”

“Uh …” Ms Cox blushed, “Don't be silly, Julie. He isn't back for me. Probably heard David was back, he wouldn’t miss that for a second.”

“Actually, Annie, I am.” Mr Styles mumbled.

‘OMG, adult drama/love unfolding before my very eyes … I shall just be an innocent bystander watching everything … hehe.’ I thought to myself, giggling.

“Really?” Ms Cox questioned him.

“Yes. I missed you so much … it’s been tearing me apart … I missed the kids, too. Look, they are so grown up. My boys getting all the girls,” Mr Styles chuckled, motioning at the sleeping Harry and Destiny.

“Aye! That's my girl! He won't be getting anything from her!” Mr Baker cut in, harshly.

“Dear, shhh.” Ms Baker chuckled cuddling into Mr Baker’s arms calming him down. The other adults chuckled, quietly still trying to keep Harry and Destiny from waking.

Mr Styles rolled his eyes, chuckling and continued. “Please, Annie. Let me fix things between you and the kids. Please.”

“That’d be nice …” Ms Cox said, smiled brightly, reaching for Mr Styles’ hand.

“Aww. Like a beautiful love story.” I awed, out loud, by mistake. The adults all looked at with, trying to hold in their laughter, as they forgot I was still there. “Well … uh … looks like Destiny is kind of busy. I think I am going to go back home … BYE!” I stuttered out in embarrassment, rushing back home.
