Moving To England

Chapter Twenty-Two

*Destiny’s POV*
*Next Day *

I walked into my last class that day, Civics and Careers. It was one of those classes the board throws into the curriculum to help the students “find themselves”. I didn’t mind going to the class, it seemed pretty chill, and a nice way to wrap of the school day – something simple. Also, there wasn’t anyone in the class who my friends told me to stay away – just me, myself, and I. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any friends, but still, this has to be my favourite class. My teacher, Mrs Stone, is also very pleasant.

Yesterday, Mrs Stone instructed us to sit out our desks. Turning off the lights, she told us to finger-paint, with our eyes closed, as we listen to music and thought about our day. Today, I came in again. I took my seat in the empty back row, which was against the opposite wall from the door.

Yesterday, the row I sat in was completely empty, and it seemed like that was going to happen again today. To be honest, I was actually, please. Although I loved being around people, some alone time never hurt.

Yawning, as a result of my lack of sleep from last night, I thought about how I wouldn’t be able to take a nap after school, because I had to go to Niall’s house for the project, and then Harry and his parents would be coming over.

I struggled to pay attention to Mrs Stone’s lecture about personality traits and what not. I begin to think about how I dreaded the idea of running into Harry, at Niall’s house, with the protection of my friends or parents.

‘I will still have Melody, though.’ I thought.

Trying to tune into Mrs Stone’s lecture, I hear her talking about self-actualization.

“Self-actualization is all about achieving one’s full potential or ability.” she begins. Instantly after, the door swung open, but I didn’t bother turning my head to see who came through, as I felt myself falling asleep.

“Ah, Mr Styles. So sweet of you to finally join us, today …” Ms Stone exclaimed with a sigh. Immediately, my eyes fluttered open, as I turned to see Harry standing in the doorway. He made eye contact with me, giving me a concerned look.

‘Shoot. Harry must have been thinking about last night.’ I thought. I looked away, rolling my eyes, not really wanting to see him. I was still sort of pissed off about yesterday. I mean, ‘What was he thinking?! Why was he so rude?’

He must’ve seen my gesture since he returned the indication. I heard him mutter something under his breath, although I couldn’t tell what he was saying, I knew it was properly something rude, again.

Harry took a seat in the back row, leaving four empty seats between us.

I thought about how Harry and I had become such good friends over the summer, and now all that seemed to vanish. ‘It hurts now that we barely talk,’ I think to myself sadly, with a small sigh. ‘Or even look at each, as a matter of fact.’

“As I was saying, self-actualization is …” Mrs Stone continued her lesson. “It is important to have people by your side, in good and bad times. This is why I have come up with a project. You and your partner will help each other reach your full potentials. You will work inside and outside of class, depending on the project I will give you. Since this is a personal project, I will allow you all to pick who you wish to be paired up with. You will have this pairing for the rest of the year, so choose wisely.”

I mentally groaned. I didn’t know anyone in this classroom, except Harry. Although, I was pretty sure neither of us wanted to be paired with one another.

Everyone quickly chose their partners. I desperately scanned the room for someone left, noticing Harry was doing the same. We were both careful not to look at one another.

I found a boy alone, I got up and started to make my way to him. Although his friend beat me to him. Quickly turning around and scratching the back of my neck, I slumped back to my seat, hoping no one noticed my failure.

“Ah, Mr Styles and Miss. Destiny, it seems you are the only two left. You know what this mean.” Mrs Stone smiled, “Harry move over and sit with your partner.”

I could hear Harry groan and mutter “fuck” under his breath. Ms Stone gave him a raised eyebrow and patiently waited for him to obey her order. Slowly getting up, and walking over the desk next to mine, Harry slammed his and down, before sinking into the chair and crossing his arms over his chest.

He clearly, did not want to be anywhere near me. I pushed back my hair behind my back, with a sigh, before crossing my arms on my desk and resting my head on it.

For the remainder of the class, Mrs Stone went on about self-actualization and personality traits. It wasn’t torturous, as I had thought it would be, for I did not have to do anything with Harry yet.

Just as the bell run, eagerly, I was the first one of the door. Finding Melody in the halls, I walked over to her.

“Hey! How’s it going?” Her green eyes lit up when they saw me. I gave her huge frowny face, making her laugh.

“Bad, huh? Well, it’s only going to get worse from here.” She said in a happy tone. It was my turn to laugh.

“I know,” I say, with a nod.

We approach the doors out of the building. As we exit, I let out a sigh as I watched the rain fall. Although, I didn’t really mind the rain, or getting a little wet.

“You don’t have your car do you?” I asked.

“Nope.”

“Better hurry then.”

“Just follow me.”

Rain falls in crazy, chaotic drops, the gusting wind carrying them in wild vortices one moment and in diagonal sheets the next. It runs down my face as a thin layer.

The pitter patter of the rain creates a shield around me.

I love the rain, I always have. The silver puddles create an obstacle course that only the bravest of us battle.

The sky is grey today, I mean everything is some form of grey, it always has been on days like this. I sometimes wonder what colour things are when it's raining. Maybe they aren’t. Maybe there are only black and white colours and different shades of in between. That ‘in between’ the space of wonder, of mystery, is a place that I love. I wonder what goes on outside my world of grey on rainy days.

I looked up at the colourless sky and allowed the rain to fall directly on my face. Smiling, I began to twirl around in the rain.

“Destiny, what are you doing?” Melody called me, giggling. She pulled the black hood, of her raincoat, over her head, as she saunters in the soft rain, squinting through the rain to see me dancing in the rain, splashing in the puddles.

“Come on! Dance with me! It’s fun! Plus, it feels so good! I exclaimed, throwing my arms up as I spun, “Try it!”

“Nope, I am fine. You look like a little child.” Melody laughed.

“Suit yourself! You can walk in the rain all glum, while I enjoy it!” I giggled, smiling brightly. I noticed people watching me, but I honestly couldn’t care less. Melody laughed at me, as she peered at me through the rain.

Suddenly I slipped on the wet concert. I fell flat onto my bum. Melody tried to catch me, but to her unfortunate luck, she slipped, as well. I let out a loud laugh, giggling as I watched Melody struggling to get back on her feet.

“Stop laughing and help me up,” Melody demanded, trying to shield her giggles.

“Okay.” I laughed. Getting on to my feet, I pulled her to her up, only to have her push me back down.

“Oh!” I exclaimed, throwing my head back laughing, as Melody burst into a fit of giggles. Melody helped back my up, again. Laughing, as we both brushed some of the mud off our clothes, we heard a deep, husky familiar British voice ask:

“Need some help ladies?”

I looked to see who had said that. Sure enough, it was Harry – the one person I wanted to avoid, but I was much to content with myself to even care.

Harry was sitting in driver’s seat of his black Range Rover, with the windows rolled down, and Amanda in the passenger seat, net to him. Zay and Niall were sitting in the middle row, of the eight-seated car.

“No, thank you. We’re alright.” I smiled, wiping my hair back. I held my head high as I continued walking down the road.

Harry was sitting a black range rover with the windows down. Amanda sat next to him, and Zayn and Niall sat in the middle. It was an eight seater car. Melody race up to me, following close behind me.

“Actually Harry, these girls are coming over to my house right now, to work on a chemistry project. Looks like they need a lift.” Niall pointed out, I could hear him smirking behind his words.

“Get in the car girls, I’ll drive you,” Harry demanded.

“No, really, it’s alright.” I insisted, with a small smile, “We are just fine walking.”

“Actually, Destiny, I wouldn’t mind the lift. I don’t really like the rain like you do.” Melody says, shyly.

“Fine. You can get into the car, I shall walk.” I announced.

“I am not leaving you here alone!” Melody exclaimed.

“Quit being difficult and just get into the car.” Harry groaned, sternness in his voice. It was actually quite frightening. Reluctantly, I agreed.

“Fine,” I huffed, “By the way, Harry, You sound like those kidnappers who tell kids to get into their vans by luring them in with chocolate,” I joked, not about to let Harry ruin my good mood.

Melody, Zayn and Niall all laughed at my little joke. Amanda seemed completely dumbstruck. I even noticed Harry struggle to hide his smile.

Melody and I sat at the very back of the vehicle, avoiding all conversation. Once we finally arrived at Niall’s house, which was about six blocks down from my own, we got out of Harry’s car and entered Niall’s home. Niall immediately shoved his sweater and sweatpants into my hands.

“What’s this?” I asked, confused.

“Do you actually think I will let you sit on my couch in those muddy clothes?” Niall laughed, as he threw Melody a shirt and shorts.

“I’ll stand.” I shrugged.

“Just change!” Niall exclaimed angrily.

“Okay.” I quietly say, a little scared.

I went into his bathroom, and stripped out of my wet uniforms and stuffed them into a plastic bag Niall had provided me with. Washing my face clean, I took out the lotion I had in my bag and applied to my bare skin, before getting into the black sweatshirt and grey sweatpants Niall gave me. I brushed back my loose hair and put it up in a messy bun, tying it with a hairband I had fished out of my backpack.

Outfit:

Melody had also changed into the shirt t-shirt, and grey, jersey shorts, as she pulled her hair back into a ponytail, as the Zayn and Niall were talking about something in the kitchen, with Harry and Amanda.

Outfit:

“Melody.” I quietly called her, as we sat in the living room, waiting for the boys.

“Yeah?” Melody asked.

“Look?” I say, posing with my hand behind my head and the other one my hips. I stuttered around the room, in Niall’s clothes, making Melody laugh out loud.

“What the hell are you girls doing?” Zayn asked as he and Niall came out of the kitchen.

“Nothing.” Melody giggled, as we tried to put on a straight face, sitting up straight on the couch.

They looked like us, struggling not to laugh.

‘They probably saw my little modelling session in Niall’s clothes.’ I thought, giggling.

We al finally sat down on the couch, to begin the project, while Harry and Amanda made a lot of thumping and bumping noises upstairs, from whatever they were doing.

Thirty minutes into the project, Harry came back downstairs to grab something out of the fridge, only in his boxers 0 showing his shirtless self. His hair was a huge mess.

‘Sexy.’ I thought, sneaking a look at him, ‘He looked … so soft.’ I noticed Melody staring as well, she looked pretty flustered, as did I probably.

“How’d it go, mate?” Zayn asked him.

“Great. Now for round two.” Harry smirked mischievously. Niall laughed, as Melody shook her head.

“He was with another girl, yesterday. If Amanda is his girlfriend, why would he cheat on her like that? Does she not know.” I shyly asked. Niall, Zayn, and Melody let out a burst of laughter.

“Harry doesn’t do girlfriends, love. He does girls. That’s it.” Zayn says as he finished laughing.

“Oh.” I managed to say, slightly hurt and sad from his words. I definitely, don’t like him no more … I think.

Another thirty minutes passed, and we had managed to get nearly a half of the assignment done.

*Harry’s POV*

“The things you can do with your tongue and that dick ...” Amanda moaned, out of breath. She reached over and placed a kiss to my lips before she set her head down on my chest.

I began to feel uncomfortable, with her resting upon me, so I used my famous excuse.

“Yeah, um, I need to go. My Mum is expecting me home for dinner.” I say, slowly pushing Amanda off me, as I got up to pull on my clothes.

Technically I wasn’t lying, my Mum did want me home for dinner. We were going to go to Destiny's place, because my Dad was coming to visit, and she didn’t feel on taking him on without the support of her best friend. Plus, Destiny’s father was really excited to see him. I, on the other hand, didn’t really care as much, I was only going to my mother, plus it was a great excuse to leave.

“When will we do this again? We could go to the party together … “ Amanda says, as she got up, and started to trace her fingers on my bare back. I turned around to look her, but not directly in her eyes – I’ve always had a thing of not being able to look a girl in her eyes after we had slept together.

“Soon, but not at the party. I’m going with someone else.”

“Who?” She asks, put her hands on her hip, still unclothed.

‘Great. She’s jealous.’ I sighed, thinking to myself.

“Uh, Destiny.” I reminded her.

“She is so ugly.” Amanda let out an evil chuckle.

“Okay …” was all I could say.

I walked downstairs to meet up with the others. Melody glanced over and gave me a death glare.

‘What got her up in a knot?’ I thought as Niall told Destiny a joke that caused her to erupt into a fit of giggles.

I just watched her laugh.

‘She always seemed so genuinely happy.’ I thought with a smile, as her baby blue eyes sparkled as she giggled like a little girl. It seemed like even the birds shut up to hear her beautiful laughter emerging and filling the air with beautiful sounds, coming from deep in her chest. ‘My favourite song.’

I thought back to watching her dance in the rain.

The rain as falling in crazy, chaotic drops, each droplet was carried away by the wind, falling fast to the ground in large groups. Amanda, Zayn, Niall and I were in my car, driving down the road to Niall’s house, until we noticed Destiny and Melody on the sidewalk, walking in the rain.

Destiny was spinning around, giggling and dancing.

‘So childish.’ I thought, smiling. ‘But at the same time, so mature.’ Mature as in, she didn’t care what other thought of it. She lived to please herself, and those who meant the most to her. ‘Such a genuine person.’ The way she twirled in the rain and threw her arms in the air revealed her carefree, light spirit.

‘Destiny. So … different. Good different.’ I thought, completely forgetting about the fact she had regretted me, only the day before.

She was the first, real girl friend that I ever had – a friend who was in the female gender, but now? Now it seemed like that was over.

‘I shouldn't have asked her to the party. Or else everything would’ve been fine.’ I thought, sighing.

We barely talked now and tried to be as distant from each other as possible, but there was always seemed like there was something that won’t let us be apart, we kept getting put together – forcing as to communicate.

‘Why fight it?’ I thought, ‘You’ve known this girl for like two months now – maybe you’ve grown to like her … NO! Harry Styles does not do that.’ I exclaimed to myself, shaking the thoughts out of my head, as Destiny stood up.

“I need to get going. We finished a lot, so hopefully, we won’t have to do this for a while.” Destiny says, as I looked out the window and noticed that it was still raining, really hard.

“It’s still raining pretty hard out there, I can take you home, Destiny.” I offered.

“Uh,” She stuttered, “It’s fine, I can walk. It isn’t that far.”

“Come on. Don’t be difficult.” I say, too tired to argue with her.

“Fine.” She shrugged, as she seemed to be tired, as well.

I walked to the passenger side, opening the door for her. As she slipped inside, I noticed her bum – her jeans were a little tight, giving me a faint outline of her ass.

‘Not bad, maybe if they were a little tight-‘ My thoughts interrupted by Destiny.

“Thanks.” She says to me. I nodded a smile toward her, before slipping into the driver's seat and putting the key into the ignition. The car was entirely silent, neither of us knowing what to say.

“Thanks. Again.” Destiny says.

“No problem.” I nodded, “Guess I’ll see you a bit, yeah?”

“Yeah. I guess.” Destiny says, giving me a small smile before she retreated her to the house. I watched her entire, before driving my car into the garage of my house.
