Stay With Me.

I

Lindsay's POV

I didn't know what made me come back to London after all the years I've been gone, but here i was. As soon as i step foot out of the plane in which i was in flight for nearly seven hours, I reach for the hood of my oversized hoodie pulling it over my head in attempt to cover my face as much as possible. I was told my luggage was going to be sent directly to my hotel which means it was one less problem i had to deal with. I keep to myself as i walk through the chaotic floor of what is Heathrow Airport, occasionally looking up to make sure i wouldn't collide with any bystander.

From the corner of my eyes i could see that people have already started to notice my presence, pointing fingers as i continue to walk by. Surprisingly no one stops me for a photo which im secretly relieved for, i was in a bit of a hurry so to speak. Leave it to me to forget to call a cab ahead of time, it takes me nearly half hour until i hail a cab. I reach into my jean pocket where i knew i put in a scarp piece of paper with my hotel address on it, handing it over to the elderly cab driver. Soon we were on the road, heading towards The Rubens At The Palace hotel, where i was to stay for the weekend.

My phone begins to ring as we are nearing my destination, answering before taking a second glance at the caller was a horrible habit of mine.
"Linds! Have you arrived already?" I was greeted by a cheery Perrie, i should have known since she was the only one that knew i was coming. After all she was the one that convinced me to come back to London for this stupid ten year high school reunion shit event that was tonight.

It wasn't on the top of my list of events to attend before i die, i was actually dreading this event more than anything in my life. This type of reunion is for people like Perrie, who ended up marrying Zayn, her high school sweetheart by the way. Its for people who like revisiting the past and brag about all their achievements throughout the span of ten years. I, on the other hand have been single since my sophomore year of Uni, dropping out soon after to join my current modeling agency back in Manhattan which was my new home. I lived in a nice little suite in the heart of New York, rent being the death of me but my salary was decent at the moment.

"Um yes love, im actually already outside of my hotel!" I reply shortly after as i struggle to pull out a couple bills from my back pocket, apologizing to the cab driver quietly for only having American dollars. That was another thing i add to my list of forgotten tasks, I need to make sure i stop by at a bank soon to trade my US dollars for Euros. Perrie had insisted me to stay at her and Zayn's house but i declined the generous offer, not wanting to intrude during my short visit.

"Good, good! So the event starts at eight tonight, Zayn and I can pick you up from your hotel if you would like" Perrie continues to talk on the other end of the phone as i make my way up the steps of the grand hotel before me. I feel bad for not really paying attention to Perrie go on about how excited she is about tonight. As soon as i step into the lobby I was captivated by the elegancy of it all, large chandeliers hanging above me twinkling from their own light. After accepting her offer of picking me up around seven thirty, we continue to make small talk over details before bidding our goodbyes.

I decide to check the receptionist desk first, hoping my luggage has already arrived. I had nearly two hours to get settled and ready before Perrie would be here. From what she has told me over the past week it seems like the whole gang was going to be there. That was the only thing i was looking forward to in all honesty, i haven't seen or heard of my friends whereabouts since i moved to the states six years ago. I wonder if any of them have gotten married as well? From the bit of gossip Perrie let me into, Niall is supposedly head over heels over some girl he met in Uni who he surely will bring tonight and Liam was also seeing a new girl, Sophia was her name.

After giving the kind lady behind the desk my name and room number, she lets me know she will have someone send my luggage up to my room. I thanked her for her time and kindness before walking across the lobby towards the check in desk. There was a small line already formed before me, nothing but men dressed in tailored suits and woman in glamorous yet simple dresses. I suddenly felt insecure with my poor choice of outfit, a pair of yoga pants accompanied with a baggy hoodie. Soon enough, a platinum blonde lady behind the counter further down the isle called out for the next person which was me.

I walk up to her desk, immediately being greeted by piercing gray eyes full of judgment as she looks me up and down. Surely she doesn't recognize who i was, not like i was famous of anything you know...
"Hi I have a reservation under Lindsay Evans" I courtesy say, not giving her the time of day while i pull out my ID which i know she was going to ask for. The young lady gives me a second look before her entire attitude changes.
"Oh my, Miss Evans its a pleasure to meet you! Ive seen your work, you are marvelous!" the lady continues to gush in her British accent as she looks up my information. I send her a fake smile, almost as fake as her attitude if not faker. This is what i had to deal with on the daily basis: fake, fake, fake people everywhere.

Shortly after giving my information and signing a few papers, i was given my room key and a map of the hotel. I thanked her, only out of respect, before walking away towards the elevators. I pilled into an empty elevator along with group of people who were waiting as well. Oh how i hated elevators, especially when they were this crowded. Luckily it wasn't a building with many floors, soon arriving to the third floor. I stepped out of the elevator, taking in a breathe of fresh air before walking down the old fashioned decorated corridor until i find my door, 306.

I push my key into the lock, granting me access into the large room in which my luggage was, sure enough, already placed neatly against the wall. I was stunned at the size of the beautifully decorated room, it was surely larger than my room in my apartment back home and oh my gosh the view. I run towards the window, pushing the heavy drapes further apart as i take in the London sunset. It was absolutely breathtaking, i had a view of Buckingham Palace as well as Big Ben. I suddenly am overwhelmed by the memories of my years living in such a beautiful city. I was born and raised here in England, my parents only living a few hours away towards the much more rural lands. I was planning on visiting sometime this weekend, showing up at their doorstep by surprise, they would love that surely!

After a few more minutes of taking in the city through the large window, i decide its time to unpack. I don't unpack everything, seeing that i clearly over-packed for a four day visit. I do pull out the endless number of dresses i brought along with me though, laying each one out neatly on my bed because honestly i didn't know which one to wear. Overwhelmed with my indecisive mind, i walk towards the bath room hoping a shower will help me think clearly. After a quick rinse and repeat, i step out of the tub engulfing myself with a small white towel from the hotel rack. I jump over my suitcases littering the floor in attempt to get to my phone. It was already six twenty, panic rushing through me. I usually don't take long to get ready but then again maybe i should for tonight's event. Even though i wasn't too excited about it, i did want to look my best.

Deciding on a simple black long cocktail dress and black heels, i start on my makeup. Not wanting to look like i was trying to hard, i decided on a natural look but putting emphasize on my green/blue eyes. Mascara was the last thing i was applying when my phone began to ring. Don't freaking tell me an hour already passed! I rushed over to my phone and of course it was Perrie.

"Hey Per! Im finishing up here, give me a second yeah?" I speak in a rushed tone as i look through my suitcases for a black and white hand bag i knew i brought with me.

"Yeah sure thing! We are going to park across the street, we are in a black audi!", was the last thing she said before i reply with a quick "ok" before hanging up. I pull out a beige colored coat from my suitcase and rush towards the full length mirror for a last look. I nearly choke on air as i realized i completely skipped doing my hair. I run my hand through it seeing i had no time and pull it up to a messy pony tail. I shrug, seeing this was the best it was going to get before grabbing my phone and key and rush out of my room a complete mess behind.

"Oh my god Lindsay you look absolutely gorgeous!" Perrie half yelled out their open window as i approach their black audi, opening the back door before sliding in. I leap forward, wrapping my arms around her neck in a failed attempt of a hug. I feel tears build up along the brim of my eyes, this was the first time Ive seen my best friend in person in eight years okay!!? The last time i saw Perrie or the rest of my friends was when i dropped out of Uni at the end of my sophomore year, in which we all attended. I moved by myself to the states, leaving my friends and family behind to make something out of myself. Eight years ago.

"Ive missed you so much Pewwie!" I squeal into her hair, pulling myself away in attempt to not mess up her perfectly styled hair. I turn over to ruffle up Zayn's hair who groans in response, quickly checking the rear view mirror in attempt to fix his hair.
"Same old Zayn i see" I giggle as he starts the car after feeling content with his hair again
"Same old pain in the ass i see!" Zayn replies jokingly as he sends me a smile through the rearview mirror. See that's the thing, we all grew up together, we know every little thing about each other along with the rest of our group. I suddenly feel good about tonight, i feel excited to see my old friends for the first time in years. After seeing how much Perrie and Zayn have changed, for the better of course, i was excited to see how much the rest of our friends have changed.

We talk nonstop throughout our drive through the London's busy streets. They both agree that I have changed the least bit, having the same sassy personality. Zayn did make a snappy remark about my hair, which he soon regrets as Perrie and I playfully hit his arm, my hit being harder than his wife's. His wife. Now that's something strange to think about, they aren't the Perrie and Zayn everyone considered the cutest couple at school anymore, they were now Perrie and Zayn Malik. They have a little two year old girl now, who was staying over at Momma Malik's house for the night. They had everything I ever wanted at this age and i suddenly feel sad. When was i going to get married and have children and live happily ever after? I don't let my thoughts ruin the mood though, as i begin to sing along with Perrie to a song that i remember i was in love with in high school... ten years ago.
