The Wedding Planner

One.

I finally glanced away from my computer screen, removing my fingers from the keyboard in which i was ferociously typing up my final weekly report. It had been a good week for my company, we were coming towards the end of winter which only means wedding season was coming! Both my favorite and most dreadful time of the year. Don't get me wrong I love my job and buisness but never underestimate the job of a wedding planner. I have to deal with organizing catering, the venue and reception, floral arrangements... Literally the whole package. But putting aside all the bs and stress, this is what I loved doing and could see myself doing for the rest of my life.

Opening my own buisness, Dream Weds, was far from easy. Being set up in the heart of New York probably wasn't the best choice to start with but after a few first clientel, my buisness expanded before my eyes. I went from struggling to pay my studio type apartments rent to planning the weddings of wealthy elite couples all across the state.

Besides I had two lovely helpers, Amber and Lily. Although they left me finishing their job on this lovely Friday evening, they were the best employees I could have asked for. Amber was in charge of treasury: handling each weddings budget and informing me of costs of things and place that were needed. Lily was my receptionist and my right hand girl, every time if was confronted with a dilemma lily was always there.

I glanced out the floor to ceiling window besides me, the busy streets of New York City could be seen from the sixth floor of the building where I was located. I knew I had to finish my report soon, I had promised Louis I would meet him for dinner in half an hour. I turned back around in my rolling chair, seeing that I was almost done with what was supposed to be Ambers job but I was kind enough to let her go home early to her new born son.

The sound and vibration coming from my office phone startled me, nearly causing me to fall out of my chair. I was used to the peaceful silence of my office that I forgot the phone could ring at any time. I narrowed my eyebrows, it was fifteen minutes passed five which was the normal hour I closed the office. Normally any calls after buisness hours were sent directly to voicemail but I am here so why not? I reached over the red old fashioned phone that I was given personally by my grandmother.

"Thank you for calling Dream Weds, this is Rachel Anderson speaking!" I cheerfully answered as I twirled around in my chair, I know super professional right?

"Oh my goodness, I'm so glad I caught you before you closed! My name is Allyson Walsh, and I was hoping to see if you would be available soon for a consultation! I've heard so much about you from family friends and it would be an honor for me and my fiancé to have our wedding planned by you" the cheeky, high pitched voice called from the other end. I smiled as I heard the excitement in her voice as spoke all too rushed.

"Well the honor is mine to be a part of your wedding planning. I do have a few openings on Tuesday or Thursday next week if that fits your schedule" I asked cooly as I pull out my spiral calendar from the top drawer of my desk.

" I know this might be too much to ask but I was hoping it could be done this weekend, you see my fiancé is going on a buisness trip with his father for the next two weeks and I would like to discuss this together. By any chance could you be able to make some time for tomorrow? We will pay for any inconvenience fees" the future bride spoke in an urgent tone, with a hint of embarrassment for asking such question. I paused for a second, I normally don't do consultations during the weekend but she did seem pretty desperate due to her fiances' situation. I slunk back in my seat, really not wanting to do this but what the heck, why not? It's not like I have anything planned for tomorrow anyway.

"I normally don't do consultations over the weekends but I will for you Miss Walsh. Is noon a good time?" I asked, pulling out a pen to add the event in my calendar.

"Yes that sounds perfect! Thank you so much for working with my hectic schedule. It's either now or in two weeks you know?" the bride to be squealed through the line, causing me to removing the phone from my ear. After a few more exchanged words and after taking down her address and phone number we said our goodbyes before hanging up. I glanced at the clock on the wall above me. I have to leave in ten minutes.

I returned to quickly typing up the remaining of the financial report before printing it out, stapling the stack of six pages, putting them in Ambers box to review on Monday in a matter of minutes and I was finally out the door.

"Hey junebug, for a second I thought you were going to stand me up again" Louis cheekily greeted me as I approached him waiting by the entrance of a familiar pizzeria joint. We always came here, we were literally pizzas' #1 fan.

I gently elbowed my best friend before leading the way into the resturant. We were greeted by a kind waitress which led us to our table besides the large window giving us the view of the glamorous rushed city.
"You know I almost died on my way here for you Lou" I spoke up after his little comment from earlier. I examined the menu even though I already knew what I was getting.

"Well I'm glad you didn't, who else would I eat over priced pizza with?" He continued to joke, going into a fit of laughter as I kicked him under the seat.

"Well unlike you I have important things to do with my life such as plan the happiest day of future brides. Speaking of, I have a consultation tomorrow" I whined as I twirled my straw around in my ice water. I knew it wasn't a big deal, they normally don't last more than an hour but just thinking of working on a Saturday was a drag.

"Oh relax, you'll be fine! By the way I'm staying over tomorrow night, Zayn is bringing his girlfriend over for their anniversary and I for sure don't want to hear all the sex that I know will go on" Louis shivered as the image passed through our minds. I've met Zayn once but never met his girlfriend before although I've heard lovely things about her. She lived in Indiana with her parents as she was attending Uni there.

Louis and Zayn were roommates in their apartment only a few blocks from mine. I nodded as I agreed to let Louis spend the night tomorrow, talking about possible movies we were going to watch all night. Yeah we weren't really a crazy bunch, we like to spend out Saturday nights watching Netflix while drinking cheap wine and stuffing our faces until we passed out at the crack of dawn. That was our type of fun.

I met Louis at NYU where we both attended a few years ago. We graduated in the same class along with a few of our other friends who we haven't spoken to since for varies reasons. I graduated with my bachelors in business and minor in marketing as he graduated with his bachelors in theatre production. I was truly lucky he stuck around, finding a job as a threate teacher at a local public school. The rest of our friend either moved states or just lost contact after graduation.

I didn't even notice our waitress was back to take our order but louis answered for me. Thin crust, pepperoni with green peppers and a side of ranch <3

After our laughter filled dinner, we stepped out to the winter wind. It was sundown by now, didn't notice how fast the time passed while I was around Louis, he was just a fun person to be around.

"Thanks for paying Tommo, you are the best! I hope you don't expect me to pay next time though since you offered!" I joked as we skipped around the semi-empty streets. There wasn't a point in driving places because traffic was a constant thing here in the city. Besides our apartments were nearby by now as we chattered about our jobs and life.

"Well here we are, thanks for walking me Lou! I'll see you tomorrow?" I called back as I walked up the marble steps towards the lobby!
"Yeah I'll see you tomorrow junebug!" Louis shouted back, before waving goodbye. Yeah don't ask why he calls me that, it's actually not a compliment hahaha.

I stood patiently by the large cherry oak door before me. I was still amazed by how big this house was, probably the largest one I've been to ever.. As I was about to ring the door bell once more, the door flew open revealing a petite brunette who held the biggest smile on her face.

"Welcome! Come on in Miss Anderson it's a pleasure meeting you!" She greeted me with the same high pitches voice as she spoke through the phone yesterday. She stood aside for me to enter and if I thought the outside was glamorous, the inside was breathe taking. Never in my life have I seen so many chandeliers and sparking, polished marble floors. The staircase was divded into two, covered in a spotless white rug on both stair ways.

"Would you like any champagne or any thing to drink?" Allyson asked, bringing my attention away from admiring her home to her. She wasn't too much shorter than myself, only a few inches but her small figure made her look tiny and it was adorable. She was literally beautiful, wearing little to no makeup, her face glowing in excitement, wearing a simple plum day dress with creme flats. She is going to make a beautiful bride to one lucky man.

"Oh the would be lovely, thank you" I replied kindly as I took a seat in a small chair in what appeared to be the sitting room. It was directly across a white leather sofa which I thought would be a perfect seating arrangement for the soon to be couple. I pulled out my tablet, opening a new note for any details I needed to take down. By the looks of this house, they were going to want a huge wedding for sure.

Soon enough Allyson came back in with a silver tray holding three thin champagne glasses filled halfway. She placed it gently on the table placed between my chair and sofa before calling out to her fiancé who I assumed was somewhere in the massive house.

"Sorry he might take a minute, he is still packing up. His flight leaves tomorrow morning. This is the second time he is leaving for so long, I hate it but what can we do huh?" She asked, followed by a sad laugh. I didn't reach for my glass until she reached for her own, always being polite as you can see.

I could hear swift heavy footsteps descending the staircase although I couldn't see from where I was sitting.
"Coming Darling!" the anonymous groom to be called from the hallway. Although the voice sounded very familiar I didn't think much of it. I brought the brim of the glass to my lips, letting the silky champagne slide into my mouth.

And there he was, standing by the arch walkway in a neatly pressed black suit, his hair perfectly groomed back and away from his face. As soon as those Familiar green eyes met mine I couldn't help but spit out my drink.

"Oh my! Harry honey can you bring a towel please. Is everything alright Miss Anderskn?" Allyson asked in a worried tone as she approached to remove my glass from my shaking hand, blocking my view of Harry.

"Please you can call me Rachel, I am greatly sorry for the mess it was so unprofessional, may I use your bathroom to clean up?" I asked urgently both embarrassed that I let something like this happen infront of my clients, even though it was only Harry and his future wife.

Harry and Allyson. this couldn't possibly be happening.
