My mother always says that I'm pretty wise in choosing decisions and now, she's giving me the freedom to choose.
"Whatever you want, baby. I'm a proud mom. As long as you do the right thing, I support you." She smiles as her arm is wrap around my shoulder, squeezing a little out of nervousness.
"I think I'll..." Even though how hard I want to stay and be with my new roommate, I don't want to leave my mom but I'm a College girl now. A fresh High School graduate and I have to do what my heart's telling me to do. I have and want to follow it.
I look at my mom, puddled tears present in her eyes. I can't help but feel for her, for her only daughter is leaving for College.
"Mom, I'll visit home. I promise. You still have Billy. I know he can be as annoying as hell but he's my brother and your son, I know he can take care of you." I sigh silently as my voice trembles. "Mom, I'm sorry for choosing this but I want to be successful, for you, us." I smile a little as my hand finds hers.
She pulls me into a warm hug and kisses my forehead. "You already are, I know you'll be." She smiles.
"I love you, mom."
"I love you too." She pulls away.
I turn to look at the University. This is what I want. This is my dream. To finish my studies. I will live it.
I turn to my mother once again but this time, I'm saying a goodbye.
As I walk through the corridors of the unfamiliar hallway, my heart's pounding hard. A present mixture of nervousness and excitement collides.
"Hello." She smiles.
"Hi." I return the pleasant gesture.
