Year Two

Beach Nights

Rachel's P.O.V.

"Well, that was interesting," Harry admitted, as the credits rolled across the screen. Harry, Louis and I had been watching a movie on the small television in their room. Unfortunately, the film was in Spanish. Despite the fact that my Spanish was actually rather good, both of the boys had studied French in school.

Louis had proceeded to translate everything for Harry anyways, ridiculously of course, and it was so entertaining that I had ended up disregarding the actual words and just listened to Louis' version. Harry's face was red from laughing and even I had managed to giggle along at Louis' ridiculous rendition of the movie.

Between the three of us, we had finished the bottle of wine I had insisted we ordered while watching the movie. Harry decided on getting a shower before going to bed, still chuckling to himself as he walked into the bathroom.

Once the door was shut, Louis turned his gaze on me. "How you feeling?" his voice was soft, laced with concern.

I smiled slightly, the alcohol having taken a reasonable effect on me.

"You know what I feel like? A walk on the beach.. come with me?" I suggested, giggling a little as I did.

If anything, he looked a little surprised at my suggestion, but offered me a grin all the same. "It's a little bit late, don't you think?" he replied, a hint of amusement in his tone.

I just shook my head in response. "Exactly, it's late. Which means that the beach will be empty, we'll have it all to ourselves. Won't that be lovely?" I exclaimed. "Please, Louis?" I pouted slightly, eager to get my way.

He rolled his eyes dramatically, but nodded.

"Sure, why not?" He gave in, causing me to grin widely. He then called to Harry to tell him we were going for a walk and asking if he wanted to join us. Harry, however, who was still in the shower, declined the offer.

"Guess it's just you and me, let's go," I announced, not giving him another minute to protest.

It was cooler at night than it was during the day, but the heat was still wonderful. Within a few minutes, we were on the beach, the sand caressing our feet. Though we had shared the wine between the three of us, it definitely hadn't been divided evenly and I was started to feel a lot more lightheaded than I had been inside.

"Can we go swimming?" I suggested suddenly, liking the idea of being in the water.

Louis only chuckled in response. "I really don't think that's the best idea Rach, you can hardly walk a straight line, let alone swim right.. " he replied.

"Hey!" I gasped at the accusation. "I can too walk a straight line. In fact, I can run a straight line, watch!" And with that I took off running along the sand. In all honesty, how straight I was running was unclear, and genuinely unimportant to me. I was enjoying the feeling of the sand beneath my feet, the moist sand..

"Hey!" All of a sudden, Louis' arms were encircling my waist and without meaning to, I tripped over, bringing us both to the ground.

We landed clumsily, Louis half on top of me, his arms still around me.

"Are you okay?" his voice was laced with concern, but he had nothing to worry about, I simply burst out laughing at the situation. After a few tense seconds, he joined me in my laughter, relaxing slightly. When the laughter had died down a little, he met my gaze.

"You were veering towards the water.. Another thirty seconds of so and you'd be knee's deep," he explained, gesturing with his head to his arms.

I just nodded in response, a smile still on my face. Before I had a chance to say anything else, we were interrupted.

"Rachel?"

I turned my head slightly to see Ashton, about ten feet away from us, his eyes red and puffy, a clearly hurt expression on his face. I sat up quickly, mumbling out an "it's not what it looks like," before I remembered that I didn't owe him anything. Anything at all.

"Rachel, can we please talk?" his voice was soft. It was clear to see he had been crying, but what did he have to cry about? What was he expecting to happen in this situation? I could sense Louis tensing up beside me and glanced at him to find him glowering at Ashton.

"I have absolutely nothing to say to you. Go talk to Delia," I muttered harshly, hopping up from where I was still sitting on the sand and making my way back towards the hotel. I didn't turn around, didn't want Ashton to see that my eyes had filled up with tears, to see how much of an effect he truly had on me.

A matter of seconds later, I felt Louis' hand on my lower back. "You alright?" he murmured softly to me, to which I simply nodded in response.

"I just.. I just want to go home, Louis. I want to get away from this hotel, and this resort and... and him," I admitted after a few seconds of silence.

Louis rubbed my back soothingly, nodding in understanding. "We'll be leaving soon Rach, don't you worry."

For the last chapter of this story before starting the sequel I was wondering if we can possibly have Louis declare his feelings for Rachel and maybe give her a kiss. Please if possible :) Thank you.
