Year Two

Elephant

Rachel's P.O.V.

"What about this one?" Ashton asked excitedly, pointing at another game.

I giggled at his enthusiasm.

It was one of those games where you had to throw the coins onto the plate. No doubt I would be dreadful at it as I had no aim whatsoever. Still, I wanted to try it. And so, the three of us spent the next twenty minutes trying to win at it. Of course, we lost each time. I was almost sure that the game was rigged anyway so that it wasn't possible to win.

"I didn't want the stupid teddy bear anyways" I muttered as we walked away.

Ashton chuckled, wrapping his arms around me from behind.

"If you really want a teddy bear I'll win you one Rach" he promised, his tone amused.

Calum fake gagged.

"You two are disgustingly cute" he muttered, though he didn't look remotely annoyed. I was suddenly very aware of how close Ashton was to me. His arms still securely around me.

"Nah, I don't need a bear. Though some food would be really good right now" I replied, pulling out of Ashton's grip to run over to the popcorn stand nearby.

"Always the first thing on your mind" Ashton laughed as him and Calum arrived behind me.

We decided on one large popcorn between the three of us and somehow Calum got stuck with paying, something he complained about as we continued on walking.

"So.." he began once our laughter had died down slightly.

I raised an eyebrow.

'So' was a never a good start.

"So what Cal?" Ashton asked. I instantly began singing the chorus of Pink's So What. I just couldn't help myself. Ashton chuckled slightly, rolling his eyes at me.

"Well, what exactly are you two? Are you like a couple now or what?" Calum asked, glancing between the two of us.

I felt myself blush ever so slightly at that and shook my head.

"No. Why'd you ask?" Ashton asked before I had a chance to.

Calum shrugged.

"You're just acting very coupley is all. And not mention you meeting the family" he explained.

I bit my lip, deciding not to say anything. Calum wasn't wrong though. Things between us were feeling a little different lately. Not that I was fully sure what it was.

I was so busy in my own head that I hadn't even realised Ashton had answered Calum, though Calum didn't look fully satisfied.

The three of us continued to wander around for a while, occasionally playing games and going on rides. I did eventually get a teddy. It was a small elephant, which I was pretty thrilled about considering elephants were my favourite animals. However, it was Calum that won the teddy, which Ashton was certainly not pleased about for whatever reason. Calum made a big show of giving me the elephant, leaving Ashton looking annoyed and awkward. It didn't make much sense to me but he seemed to cheer up considerably when I decided to name it Ashton. Almost an hour later, Ashton announced it was time for him to leave. I was a little more than disappointed - I was really enjoying hanging out with him. Oh, an Calum of course.

"Must you go?" I asked.

He grinned.

"We spent the whole night together Rach" he teased, obviously noting my disappointment.

Calum's eyes widened.

"You what?!" he asked shocked.

Ashton rolled his eyes, smacking his head.

"Not like that you idiot" he told him.

Calum just smirked.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow" Ashton assured me, turning his gaze back to me.

"You better" I replied.

Ashton grinned.

"Bye Rach" he said, nodding slightly.

Before I had a chance to think about what I was doing I stood up on my toes, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. When I pulled away I noticed his eyes were wide and his cheeks had flushed red.

"Er- Bye Ashton" I mumbled, instantly regretted doing it.

He swallowed and just nodded.

"Bye" he mumbled, glancing down shyly.

He ran a hand through his hair before a quick glance at Calum. Then he took off.

I sighed once he was far enough away feeling extremely awkward. I turned to be faced with a smirking Calum.

"So just friends, huh?" he asked sceptically.

"Shut up" I mumbled.

His smirk stayed intact.

"You like him" he teased.

I looked away from him quickly.

"You do" he continued in an all-knowing voice.

I rolled my eyes.

"As a friend Cal" I corrected him.

He scoffed.

"Yeah, yeah.. Whatever you say. Now c'mon we should probably find the rest" he seemed to drop the subject and I happily obliged. Though I couldn't stop thinking about why I had done it.

For the last chapter of this story before starting the sequel I was wondering if we can possibly have Louis declare his feelings for Rachel and maybe give her a kiss. Please if possible :) Thank you.
