Treacherous

Chapter 8

I struggled to open my eyes the next morning, my head pounding uncontrollably. I could feel all of the kinks in my body as I sat up, taking in my surroundings. Confusion flooded through me as I realized I was sprawled out on Ronnie's bathroom floor. An empty bottle of Pinot Grigio next to me and the distinct smell of vomit was coming from somewhere near by.
I groaned, noticing the questionable mixture in the toilet before hastily flushing it down. Walking over to the sink I almost screamed as I looked into the mirror, my hair was a rats nest mess of braids and glitter, and blue eye shadow covered my face. I somehow had managed to squeeze myself into Ronnie's fairy princess costume from the sixth grade.

More confused then ever I stumbled out of the bathroom and into Ronnie's room. I couldn't control my laughter, even as it killed my soar ribs from sleeping on the hard tile floor.

Ronnie was passed out on her floor in a french maids costume that rose up to her stomach, exposing me to her bare ass. A half eaten slice of pizza in her hand.

I took a pillow from her un-slept in bed and chucked it at her head. She abruptly sat up with a small yelp as she looked from side to side, using her pizza as a weapon.

She let out a relieved sigh before wiping the drool from her chin and taking a bite of the old pizza. "Morning bitch." She said with her mouth full.

"Morning." I groaned and plopped on her comfortable bed that would have saved my body from ten thousand aches had I slept in it.

Memories of the previous day and night finally coming back to me, most importantly my purpose for rushing to Ronnie's. Well more like I ran to Zayn's pulled her out of bed with him and invited myself for a sleepover at her house.

"I need some fucking Bacon." Ronnie complained.

Tears began to fill my eyes as I thought of what I had done with Niall. His dejected face after I pushed him away threw on my clothes and sprinted out of the house. How irresponsible I was and how much it would hurt Elliot if he found out.

"Let's get Bacon." She insisted still on the floor.

I had to tell him. He was going to go insane but he deserved to know the truth.

"Olivia Francis stop ignoring me." I heard her get up from the floor and stomp over to the bed. Her glare turned into sympathy when she noticed the tears on my face and slid into the bed next to me. "It'll be okay Liv. It's not the end of the world." She told me softly.

"I'm a horrible person."

"Oh please. If you're a horrible person then I am the Devils long lost child." She snorted.

"I cheated on Elliot...with Niall. I had sex with Niall." I inhaled deeply, feeling myself on the verge of a panic attack. "Liam is going to freak."

"Liam will get over it. As far as Elliot goes, what he doesn't know wont kill him."

I closed my eyes and shook my head. "I'm telling him Ron."

Ronnie laughed, obviously thinking I was joking. When she saw my stern expression she controlled herself. "Your serious?"

"Of course. He deserves to know."

"No, no he doesn't. He will never find out about this. Just relax."

"Relax? He's going to find out. I'm going to tell him before he does." I hopped out of the bed, ignoring the nausea that comes with drinking too much wine.

I took off the itchy costume and rummaged through Ronnie's wardrobe finding a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. God knows where my clothes ended up.

"Olivia." Ronnie groaned. "Get back in bed and cuddle with me. I'm hungover. We can watch a movie and my mom will make us bacon."

"No, I need to go see Elliot." I looked around her destroyed room for my shoes.

"You do realize he's hours away, right?."

"I know where my boyfriend goes to school." I snapped.

"So how do you plan on getting there?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Liam." I shrugged.

"That will require you to explain the sudden rush of plans."

"Fine then you'll be the great best friend you are and drive me."

She wined and laid back in bed. "If I say no?"

"I'll take a bus with sweaty old hobos." I settled for stealing a pair of her converse, giving up on finding them in the tornado we created.

"Fine. I'll drive you." She groaned. "But." She sat up a smile taking over her face. "We are going to a Stanford party tonight."

"Deal."

An hour later Ronnie and I managed to shower and pack over night bags, tossing them into the trunk of her car. We hopped in and a rush of nervous butterflies filled my stomach, not in the good way. I was scared, really scared of Elliot's reaction.

A few minutes later the car stopped and I looked out the window in confusion.

"Why are we at Zayn's?" I asked her. She gave me a sheepish smile.

"Don't kill me." She pleaded, not understanding what she meant I turned back to Zayn's house. He strutted out of the front door a small duffle over his shoulder, but the person following right behind him had my heart racing a thousand times a minute.

"You didn't. Ronnie. What the fuck?" I yelled at her in panic. I couldn't see him so soon...after what we did. I needed the weekend to get away. How was I supposed to tell Elliot with him there?!

"I'm sorry Liv, but Zayn insisted on coming, and Niall promised to cut my engine if I didn't let him come. We don't have to talk to him."

"Right because that's going to fucking work." I rolled my eyes as the back door opened and the guys shuffled in.

"Morning ladies." Zayn greeted.

"Rough Night?" Niall asked, the smugness in his voice was so obvious.

"Good morning Zayn." I smiled at him, ignoring the douche bag sat behind me.

"Alright." Ronnie clapped her hands awkwardly. "Road trip part 1." She attempted to break the tension in the car. When she got no response she mumbled a 'right' before driving off.

...

Three hours in Ronnie pulled into a gas station/ rest stop. Niall and I were sent to get snacks while her and Zayn pumped gas. It was obviously a subtle plot to get me to talk to him.

It sucks when your best friends OTP is you and your worst nightmare.

"Get the Cool Ranch." Niall said as I starred between Doritos flavors. Despite my craving for Cool Ranch I automatically grabbed the large bag of Nacho Cheese and moved on down the isle.

Niall followed me through selections that the gas station offered. I picked out a few snacks, ignoring any of Niall's suggestions. Surprisngly he didn't fight me, just remained silent.

I paid, pushing Niall's debit card away, and left the smelly shop. Once outside I felt a familiar, strong hand grasp my forearm preventing me from moving forward.

"Your acting immature Olivia."

"Good." I snapped, not turning to face him.

"Look at me."

"No."

He sighed and walked around until we were face to face. Taking the bag of junk food from my hand, he placed it on the ground before cupping my cheeks.

"Why are you so stubborn?"

"Don't touch me." I told him though making no move to shove him away. Weak. I was so weak.

"Why won't you talk to me?" He sounded genuinely confused and possibly hurt.

"Why did you come today?" I asked, ignoring his question.

"I asked you first." He insisted.

"You know why I won't talk to you."

"No actually I don't. Is this seriously about last night?"

"I cheated on my boyfriend with you." I whispered harshly, pulling myself from his grasp. "So forgive me if I needed a little space from you to think things through."

He sighed running a hand over his face. "Why do you have to over react about everything? It was just sex Olive. Great fucking sex. I'd gladly do it again, I could give two fucks about Elliot. But for some reason you do and want to make a huge mistake by confessing to him. So to answer your question I'm coming with you to make sure the prick keeps his temper under control." His hard eyes intensely burning into mine. "We both know how he's reacted when he's pissed."

I cringed internally from his words. Surprisingly not because of him bringing up the night in Elliot's car. Five words kept replaying in my head. Words that stung more than the memory of being slapped by my boyfriend.

It was just sex Olive.

I should have known that it meant nothing to him. Niall fucks a new girl every day. Why would I be any different? Because he says sweet things to me? Because he won me a stuffed animal at an amusement park? It hit me that he does that with all of the girls, he will say or do anything to get it in. I jeopardized my relationship for that. There wasn't even a point in arguing with him. To him we may as well have played a round of chess.

I was getting worked up over a guy who didn't have genuine emotions when it comes to relationships. Niall Horan is the notorious heart breaker and I fell for his games.

"Olive." He called, snapping me out of my daze.

"I can handle myself." I told him, a numbness taking over me. "If you insist on being there than fine, but don't blame me if he tries to kick your ass."

Niall snorted, letting out a loud laugh. He picked up the snacks and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Let's hope for his sake he doesn't try anything." He led me back to the car. I ignored the way I felt being wrapped in his arm, any feeling towards Niall was completely pointless.

...

"He doesn't even know we're here?!" Ronnie screeched.

"Just calm down, it's not like he's going to care." I pushed the floor number for Elliot's dorm room after Ronnie and I stepped in to the elevator. We had checked in to a hotel a few blocks away, Niall and Zayn were definitely uncomfortable sleeping in Elliot's room. It was the best idea Ron has ever had, saving us all from an awkward experience. The two guys were off 'exploring' the campus, in other words checking out college girls.

"How do we even know if he's in his room? Isn't he in a Frat now?"

"He texted me earlier saying he was taking a nap. And it's only his first semester he can't move in to the Frat house yet. Besides I think I would know if he did."

"I don't like this Liv."

"Get over it." I told her as the bell dinged and the elevator doors opened. "Come on." I walked out and towards the room where I had been to only once when I came with his parents to drop him off. "Room 213, this is it." I raised my hand to knock but Ronnie quickly grabbed it, a look of concentration on her face.

"Wait." She whispered. "Do you hear that? Theres a girl in there!" She narrowed her eyes.

My heart dropped for a moment, but the feeling quickly left. It wasn't like he couldn't have girls in his room.

I rolled my eyes and knocked twice on the door. Giggles could be heard from the other side before finally the door swung open to a fake blonde, wearing nothing but panties and a spaghetti top. I looked behind her to see Elliot's roommate Devon, I met him once briefly. He was sitting shirtless at his desk looking engrossed in homework. Elliot on the other hand was sitting up in his bed starring at me with wide eyes.

He stood up and a surge of relief passed through me when I saw that he was fully dressed.

"Who are you?" The girl sneered, drawing my attention back to her and her orange tan.

"Who are you?" Ronnie growled from my left.

"Olivia." Elliot came over to me and pulled me into a tight hug. I didn't hug him back, still confused by the entire situation. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Who is she Elli?" The girl whined. Elli? I pulled away from him waiting for an explanation.

"Dev can you control your girl?" Elliot growled at his roommate.

Devon finally looked up from his textbook. He furrowed his eyebrows before noticing me and hopping up from his desk. He came over and gave me a quick hug, the fact that he was toned and shirtless was extremely obvious. I could practically see the drool running down Ronnie's face.

"Olivia, it's nice to see you again. Elliot talks about you all the time." He smiled at me before turning to the girl. "You should really go now." He told her blankly. Her mouth dropped and she was about to protest before he cut her off. "Look you got what you came for now get the fuck out. We have company."

The girl let out a frustrated scream that sounded like she was a three year old girl who wasn't allowed to get the new Barbie doll. She stomped over to her shorts and pulled them up, I'm pretty sure they were shorter than the panties she had on. She walked out of the room and turned around, getting ready to say something else before Elliot slammed the door in her face. Another scream was heard from the other side, until finally it drifted down the hall way.

"Sorry about that ladies." Devon gave us a charming smile. "I shagged that one while El was sleeping and she wouldn't leave after. I even tried to do my homework so she would get the hint."

"Oh." I muttered as Elliot's arms wrapped around me from behind. Something felt off to me but I chose to let it go, and relaxed in his hold. I would have to tell him about my reason for coming but I decided not to do it until the next day. I promised Ronnie we could go to a party and we would most likely need Elliot to get us invited to one.

"This a nice surprise babe." Elliot whispered in my ear, planting a kiss just below it. It didn't make my stomach flutter as it once would have.

I turned around to face him, looking away from Devon flirting with my best friend who was completely falling for it.

"I wanted to see you." I looked up at my boyfriend. It wasn't a lie. I needed to see him after what I'd done. A sort of reassurance that I still wanted him, that he was still there. Now that I'm standing here with him I'm more confused then ever. What surprised me was the surge of guilt that filled me. But I don't regret sleeping with Niall, even after his words this morning. For some reason I can't bring myself to regret it, and I'm not sure I would choose differently if I could go back. My guilt is for betraying Elliot. Nobody deserves to be cheated on and I am going to have to crush him by telling him.

Will he break up with me?

Maybe Ronnie is right and I don't have to tell him. Theres not many ways for him to find out. Only Niall, Ronnie, Zayn and myself know what happened.

But... I needed to tell him. I wanted to tell him. Maybe I didn't care if he broke up with me...A small feeling of relief filled me just thinking about it. I wouldn't have to worry about him anymore, being good enough, going to Stanford, getting abused...

No. I can't think that way.

Elliot is my boyfriend and I love him. I have to save our relationship and the way to do that is to be honest with him. That's the only reason I am going to tell him. At least that's what I'm choosing to believe.

"Next time call me. I'll be more prepared to show you around." He smiled, but I know Elliot, and I read the small warning behind it. He doesn't like surprises, he would have liked to know that I was coming and when. I knew this but I guess I just didn't care.

"Sorry," I looked to the ground quick before looking back up at him. "I'll let you know next time."

"Good." He leaned in and kissed my lips. My heart stopped for a moment as I foolishly worried he would be able to detect traces of Niall's kiss on mine. I sure as hell still felt his touch all over me, I doubt it would ever go away. "So where are your bags?" He asked when we pulled away.

"We're staying at the Marriott around the corner from campus." I told him.

"What? That's crazy." Devon cut in, leaning back against his dresser and looking down at Ronnie. "You girls could have stayed here with us. There's plenty of room in my bed."

Ronnie giggled sounding strangely like a hyena. Did she forget that bimbo that he'd been with just before we got here?

"Actually two of our other friends came with us, I doubt you'd want them in here too." I said.

Devon's eyes lit up. "The more the merrier. I'd gladly share my bed with three beautiful ladies."

"I'm sure you would, too bad two of those ladies have hairy legs and penis's." I rolled my eyes. His face dropped in disgust and Elliot's arms tightened around me.

"Who else came with you?" He asked, I detected the sternness in his voice though I didn't look up to meet his eyes.

"Zayn and Niall." Ronnie answered for me before her and Devon became absorbed in their flirting once more.

"Your staying with me tonight." Elliot growled lowly in my ear, only I could hear him, not that the other two people in the room were paying attention.

I nodded my head wordlessly. There was no use fighting. It wasn't strange for a boyfriend to want his girlfriend to sleep in his bed after being apart for so long. Something behind his words however, made his intentions more possessive rather than sweet.

...

I could feel Niall's eyes on me as we rode up the Elevator back to Elliot's room. My cheeks filled with heat along with other parts of my body. I tried to remember a time when Elliot made me feel that way, just from a stare. I was wearing a tight party dress. Not something my boyfriend would approve of but of course Ronnie talked me in to it. She was right of course, I would stand out if I went to a California college party in a sweater.

Conveniently Elliot's frat was holding a huge party that night. I didn't miss his hesitation to bring me there, for what reasons I'm not sure. If Devon didn't remind him that his presence was required now that he was an initiated brother, I doubted that he would have taken me at all.

Ronnie knocked loudly on Elliot's dorm door. I could tell she was eager to see Devon again. Even with Zayn right there. I could already predict one problem of the night. Zayn and Ronnie weren't together but I knew how much she wanted them to be. And I knew exactly what she was going to do tonight, show him what he was missing. He didn't want to be tied down to her, so she didn't have to be tied down to him. I was proud of her, but I also knew it wasn't going to end well.

Devon opens the door, a wide grin on his face his eyes roam over Ronnie and then to my surprise he does the same to me. The fact that I'm his roommates girlfriend clearly not stopping him.

"Come on in." He smirks and steps aside so the four of us can enter. I could practically feel Niall and Zayn's discomfort.

Niall's P.O.V

I never knew it was possible to hate Elliot even more than I previously had.

I had the best night of my life with Olivia and the next morning she rushed to go see him.

Seeing him in his room, arms wrapped around her had my blood boiling beyond my control. Especially with how gorgeous she looked.

Zayn seemed to be in a similar boat as me because he was glaring relentlessly at the assholes roommate who also happened to be an asshole. I really shouldn't have been surprised.

"Are we going to this party or not?" I asked. I was beginning to regret my decision to come, but then I thought about Olive telling him what happened and I refused to let her be alone with him during that.

"Right. We should get going." Devon checked his watch that was on the arm wrapped around Ronnie's shoulder. I felt the urge to beat the shit out of him for Zayn. "Come on Ron, let's go get a cab."

Zayn was quick to follow them out the door.

"You two coming?" I asked, not ready to leave Olive alone with him.

"Yes." She said, pulling away from her boyfriend who was quick to pull her back to him. I could feel my eye twitching in irritation.

"Are you sure you want to go babe?" He spoke in a low tone but not quite enough that I couldn't hear.

"Of course. I want to see your frat." She furrowed her eyebrows.

"I can give you a tour of the house in the morning. Things can get wild during parties, I'm not going to be able to leave you alone."

"Can we just go." I snapped cutting in. "Don't you have to be there anyway?"

He shot me a glare before looking back at Olive. "You could stay here while I go for an hour. I will be right back, I promise." His voice was firm, as if it was a final decision. It irritated me further, she could make her own decisions.

I watched as her face fell, I couldn't tell if it was hurt or anger, probably both.

"I'm not staying here. I'm coming to the party with you guys. I will be fine." Her fists clenched slightly, I felt a hint of smugness that she was sticking up to him. She had to know what a douche he was.

"You'd really leave your girlfriend here after not seeing her for weeks?" I asked him in mockery and disbelief.

"Why don't you just shut the fuck up and stay out of it Horan." He snapped at me, his eyes glaring with hatred. I wanted so badly to laugh at how intimidating he thought he was. At the same time I wanted nothing more than to pry him away from my girl and knock him out.

"Both of you stop it and lets just go before they leave without us." Olive looked sternly between us before walking out the door, the asshole and I following behind.

.....

He was true to his word and hadn't let go of her the entire night.

My blood was boiling. The anger increasing every time I looked at them. I made eye contact with Olive a few times followed by her quickly looking away.

I was curious though. He had hardly let her talk to anyone at the party. He'd introduce her and then move along quickly. He didn't want her there, that much was obvious and there was no way he was going to let her wander alone. Which also meant I could hardly get a moment to talk to her.

There must have been something wrong with me. I was at a college party filled with slutty and smoking hot girls, yet I was obsessing over one who could hardly look at me. She's not like any other girl though, she's different, special and so...lost. I wanted to help her find herself again, the girl who was so full of life, the girl that I... no don't think that way Niall.

Find a hot college girl. Distract yourself.

I wandered through the house, Zayn and Ronnie were off fighting somewhere. I wasn't in the mood to get in the middle of that. So that left me alone.

I made a pact with myself to not look for Olive for the rest of the night. I weaseled my way in to a game of beer pong, easily winning game after game with some random partner. I became very grateful for the attention it attracted to myself because I instantly had two very hot girls hanging on my arms.

"Let's go dance baby." The blonde whispered in my ear.

I smirked to myself, finished my cup of beer and grabbed her ass, leading her to the dance floor. She grinded back into me and I was easily aroused. I could have my way with this girl if I wanted. Unfortunately only one face was flashing through my mind. The face of the only girl I really wanted to be with in that moment.

Feeling an urge of confidence, now backed by the alcohol, I left the chick I was dancing with, ignoring her complaints and searched everywhere in the house.

The same tingling feeling I got every time I laid eyes on her filled my stomach. She was talking to the Devon guy, Elliot no where in sight. I took it as a sign from the fates and hurried over to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Her head snapped upwards as if she knew it was me just from my touch.

"What are you-"

I cut her off. "Liam just texted, he wants us to call him."

She furrowed her eyebrows, reaching in her clutch to check her own phone.

"He said it was urgent." I nudged her with my arm so we could go find a quite space.

"I can't just leave here, Elliot said to stay with Devon and he'd be back after taking care of-"

"It'll take a few minutes." I cut her off again. "Tell the asshole she had to talk to her brother." I told Devon before pulling Olive with me, and grinned to myself when she walked along.

"Why didn't he text me? Or call?" She rambled as I searched down a hall for an empty, unlocked room. "Did he say if everything was okay? Maybe it's my parents? What if they're home! And I'm here. Or what if he knows about.. You didn't tell him about last night did you!?"

She began to panic, clearly playing out different scenarios in her head. I rolled my eyes and finally pulled her into an empty room with twin bunk beds, the comforters hanging off the sides and clothes littered the floor. It would just have to do. I locked the door behind us and shut the light causing Olives phone screen to light up as she searched for Liam's number.

I pried the phone from her hand and pressed her up against the closest wall. Her breath hitched and I could see the surprise on her face lit by the moonlight shining through the window. She was so gorgeous it made my heart ache just looking at her.

"Niall, what's going on?"

"Shh.. Relax baby." I leaned in and kissed her neck.

"Did Liam even text you?"

"What do you think?" I whispered, working my way along her jaw.

"How much did you drink?" She asked, her voice shaky, I was getting to her. She could deny it all she wants but she wanted me just as much as I wanted her. We both knew it.

"Not much.." I sucked just below her ear, a spot I knew drove her crazy. As expected a small moan escaped her lips, causing mine to quirk up ward. "Just a few beers." I blew on her neck lightly before lifting my head so it was right in front of hers. Her eyes darted down to my lips.

"That's a lie." She called me out, looking back into my eyes.

"Maybe." I smirked and ran slow circles on her hip with my right hand. I took a step forward so my body pressed hers into the wall, sliding my hand down her leg, lifting her exposed thigh so it hitched around my waist. Her mouth hung open slightly as she breathed heavily.

"W- we can't do this Niall."

I leaned my forehead against hers. "Yes we can." I whispered.

She swallowed and began to shake her head but I gently pressed my lips against hers. She didn't move her mouth with mine as I tried to get a reaction out of her. Her body however betrayed her as it pushed further against me.

"Kiss me Olivia." I breathed into her mouth.

She shook her head once more. I usually hated when girls played hard to get, it was easier when they just gave in. With Olivia though, it drove me wild. She could probably do anything and I would be turned on. I bit her lip, pulling so it snapped back before sucking it between mine. She let out a moan, my new favorite sound, causing me to grind my hips into hers. I was sure she could feel how hard I was, and something in her must have sparked because she began to kiss me back, gripping my hair.

The passion between us was indescribable. Until her I'd never known that such a connection between two people was possible.
