Stay With Me

Jana stands in front of her father. She came personally to talk with him. That’s why she came alone.. His eyes water slightly as he sees his daughter for the first time in almost an entire year, basically ever since she met Niall.

‘’Darlin’.. why are you here?’’ He whispers to her as she sniffs, trying to hold back her tears. ‘’I gotta tell you something.’’ She mumbles, staring up at him, him being about 6 foot something, she wasn’t sure what though.

‘’What is it?’’ He asks, concerned. He knew about Niall, all though he had never met him mainly because Jana didn’t want any drama to occur. ‘’I’m.. engaged.’’ She says, smiling a little. “Really?’’ He asks, a smile spreading across his face. ‘’Yeah.. see..’’ She holds her hand out towards him.

He takes it and squeezes it tight as he looks at the ring. ‘’Your mother always wanted a nice ring.. I could never afford it though.’’ He sighs as he drops her hand gently. “I always wondered.. Dad.. why.. why did she leave?’’ Jana asks him, trying to understand it all.

‘’She just wasn’t happy.’’ He shrugs as he looks at her, admiring the eyes she got from her mother. Every little tiny thing about Jana, whether it be her hair or her voice, reminded him of Isabella, or Izzy, as he called her at times.

“Well, damn.. you’re old enough.. so I’ll tell you.’’ He says as he leans against the door frame looking at Jana. ‘’Your mother and I were young lovers, as I’ve told you before, but she wanted too much from me from the start. She was very.. sexually active and I had figured it was okay..at the time. But then when we found out about you.. things sorta fell off track. Your mother was put in the hospital to prevent her from drinking, since she was an alcoholic. The doctors didn’t want anything to happen to you..’’ He pauses, sighing a little.

Soon, Chad continues on, “We didn’t think we could raise you.. right. So.. after you were born.. your mother quickly decided to hurry up and get out before she fell deep in..’’ ‘’So.. the reason she left was because of me?’’ Jana asks, feeling her heart break a little.

‘’No, honey-‘’ Chad begins, but she soon cuts him off and continues her sentence. ‘’I’m the reason you aren’t happy.. and that you done all those things.. and..’’ she stops herself, ashamed and shocked all at the same small moment.

‘’No, Jana.. Sweetheart, you didn’t ruin my life.. nor did you cause those horrible things I done.. I was in love with you the day I laid my eyes on you.. you were so small.. but you were so new and I knew that I could take care of you forever.. And all those things were caused by women who I thought I had loved.. but really.. I only love your mother.. I tried, honey, to fill those gaps up with whores and hook ups.. occasional girlfriends here and there, but I knew I only had room for her mother in those gaps.. I know you think it was your fault. But it wasn’t.. you’re very important to me and you have never caused me any pain.’’ He rambles on and on, but it really meant something to Jana.

It meant that she was wrong about herself, her father, her mother, those women, and most important she was wrong about her childhood and entire life.. she was wrong.. and finally.. she has the answers.

But yet, she doesn’t see that its time to start her own family again. She’s settling down for real this time, and she’s gonna have another child.. and she isn’t ready for it..

But what she really isn’t ready for is telling her father she’s..pregnant.
