Chapter 30

Addie’s POV

We drive to the pub/club. Lucy and Luke are flirting and Calum and I try really hard not to laugh. Lucy literally has a comeback for everything he says, and it’s all light that I almost forget the weirdness between me and Calum. Or me and Mikey. Ash’s car passes us, honking and I can hear Michael laugh from the open window. Calum chuckles and step on the gass.
“Can we not die in a car crash?” I ask laughing as well.
The GPS announces that we need to get off the freeway, and so Cal slows down and turns.
We enter the city, and seems like rush hour, or maybe we’re just in a very busy area. There are so many cars, and pedestrians on the street. The sun is slowly setting, as we drive behind Ash and Michael.
We get to the venue, which is a lot bigger than I expected. Honestly I expected like a weird bar or something, but this looked like a club. We parked the cars on the parking in the back and Luke and Ash go inside to announce that’t we’ve arrived, and ask where to set up.
Lucy and I offer to help Mikey and Callum with everything, but they seem like they got it so we just stand to the side. I shiver a little bit, my thin stockings doing nothing for me in the chilly night. And neither does my leather jacket.
We go towards the back door, which is left open, as Ash and Luke come out with some other guys, and head for Ash’s car for the drum kit.
Lucy and I follow Mikey and Calum and through the maze of hallways, we emerge on a stage. The dance floor before us is really big. There is a sitting area up a couple of stairs, which make me believe they are VIP, and there are high tables all over the place. There are two bars downstairs on both ends of the big room, and one in the VIP section, which has half-circle couches and singular cushioned seats.
“Holy shit” I hear Mikey say, putting down his guitar.
“This is so much bigger than I expected” Calum says to him.
Lucy meets the guy that called Luke, and introduces herself as their PR. She talks very professional and asks about the amount of people coming tonight, the owner of the club, and some other weird questions.
I take to the stairs to the little secluded area, where a waiter-boy directed me towards our VIP seats. The view was really nice, you could see the stage, and the whole dance floor, and behind me, there were big posters of bands and what not.
I checked my phone, and I had one message from Aggie ‘They are in your room.’
I let out a deep sigh, and make a mental check list of where I put all my things. I know I have some money hidden inside one of my plushy toys from when i was little. They are sewn in, so there is no way anyone will find them. My laptop is password protected, and there is literally no way anyone is going to type in ‘d!ngD0ngyourewr0ng’, so that’s safe. The only thing they can take and wreck is my books…and jewellery. But none of my jewellery is actually expensive. They could go through my drawers….ew. I push the thought away.
“This place is huge” Calum says and sits next me. I put my phone away.
“Yeah. You excited?” I ask.
He nods, drinking beer.
We sit in silence, watching Ash assemble his drum set, Luke and Michael and some other people setting up the guitars.
“What on earth is Lucy doing?” I ask laughing, as I see her directing people, I assume work here, what to do.
“She takes her PR job very seriously” He chuckles.
She moves with purpose and confidence, and Luke constantly glances her way. I cannot help but remember how she was a couple of years ago. Small, chubby, and very shy. She used to follow me and Aggie when we were little, and looked up to both of us - dressing like us, talking like us, being interested in the same movies and games as we were. It was a bit annoying, but looking at her now, I couldn’t even connect this Lucy with that one. It’s insane how much she has changed. Have I changed that much?
She approaches us and sits next to me.
“This job is going to kill me” She says dramatically. Both Calum and I start laughing. “Yeah, laugh, but I managed to get them to pay you more. They were seriously underpaying you. This place is huge, so many people are going to be here tonight, and you managed to come here on short notice.”
“We didn’t really have anything else to do” Calum says, sipping from his beer again.
“They don’t have to know that” Lucy smiles.
“I’m buying you a drink later” He says to Lucy and she salutes him, when he gets up to join the boys for a quick soundcheck.
The time passes. When they are done with the soundcheck it’s around 9, and as I overheard someone, there is already a line outside. Music plays from the speakers, and at exactly 9, people start walking in. Everyone is dressed fancy, and some are already tipsy.
There is a guy at the bottom of the stairs with a list of names for the VIP section, and people start coming upstairs as well. Lucy and I are talking and laughing about something in school, when we spot a blonde girl wearing a short dress, followed by none other than Marissa, Chris, Stephen, and some other people I never learned the names of, from their group of friends. They don’t come up to the VIP section, and they don’t even see us, so they stand around two high-tables.
Robert, the dude that called Luke, lets me and Lucy get any drink for free, and Lucy gets us some kind of cocktails. The boys make their way off stage, after making sure everything is in the right place, and manage to push their way to the VIP area. All of them look nervous and happy, and none of them notice the unwanted familiar faces.
“Of all the places, man!” Lucy laughs.
Ash and Calum go over something, Luke immediately engages into a conversation with Lucy, which leaves me and Mikey, sitting next to each other.
“There are so many people!” He says excitedly, scanning the club. It looks so much bigger now, with all the people inside it.
“Including Marissa and her annoying friends” I say and laugh. Mike scans the area bellow, looking for them, and spots them almost immediately.
“Of all the places” He says.
“Is she stalking you guys?” I laugh.
“Maybe Calum. I don’t understand her” He says, and looks at me “I don’t get why she was with him. I mean, she didn’t really need him? Like, she had Stephen to fuck with, and it’s not like she got anything out of Calum”
“Didn’t he follow her every wish and command?” I ask, a bit sarcastic.
“Yeah but, it’s not like she needed to make our lives harder by controlling him, you know? I don’t know. I never understood their relationship” He finishes and takes a sip from his drink. Not sure what it is.
“Guys, guys!” Lucy hits Michael on the shoulder and we both turn our attention to her. “You see that dude there?” She says pointing to a guy entering the club and heading towards the VIP area. We nod “He is a talent scout” She says. We all look really confused.
“Lucy, babe, we know you are their PR” I say “But how could you possibly know this?” We all laugh, but she is still following the guy with her eyes, he sits somewhere behind us.
“I lived in Los Angeles. I know a talent scout when I see it.” She rolls her eyes “You’ll see.”
Just then Robert comes up to us and announces that the boys are up in 10 minutes. They all seem nervous, but they decent down the stairs and push their way towards the stage.
After a couple of minutes, Robert addresses everyone here, announces the grand opening of the club, and introduces 5 Seconds Of Summer, which I thought was a ridiculous name but whatever.
Lucy and I, however, don’t look at the stage with everyone else, we look at Marissa and Ashley who seem kinda confused and then it hits them. And then we may eye contact with them. Lucy seems really smug, I just casually look away, and direct my stare towards the stage.
The next hour and a half (with a short break of 10 minutes) the guys play their own songs, and covers, a setlist that Lucy made for them. Ok, she is like really on board this whole PR thing. I don’t even know what a PR does exactly but she seems to be in charge. Okay then.
After they are, they thank everyone, and take all the equipment back to the car (I assume?) before they come back.
They get an amazing response from everyone and after they are done, they get tapped on the shoulders by the people they pass, and then up the stairs to the VIP section.
“Fucking crushed it!” Lucy high-fives Michael. She is tipsy, having drank five tequila shots, and a vodka red-bull, and that cocktail from the beginning of the night.
They sit around us, all sweaty and buzzing. Michael sits between Ash and Luke, and I think he purposefully didn’t sit next to me. Calum does sit next to me however.
“I’m buying you a drink” He says, and then gets up again. He comes back with some cocktail, different from the one Lucy got me, and something that looked like rum for him.
“I thought you were buying Lucy a drink?” I say, sipping on my cocktail. It’s sweet, but you can taste the vodka underneath all the sweetness.
“So you don’t want your drink?” He raises an eyebrow.
“Nah mate, I never say no to free alcohol form people I know won’t ruffie me.” I wink and take another sip. He laughs and I find all that build up tension, all the awkwardness between us gone. In this moment, it feels really easy to talk to him, and so I do.
We talk about the gig, and about the supposed scout (which Lucy overhears, and joins our conversation for a few seconds to say that, yes, in fact, he is a scout and that we shouldn’t doubt her) which we laugh about, and then we talk about school and classes, and he tells me about his and Marissa’s break up (at this point he is clearly very drunk).
“She’s here, you know” He says, drinking from his glass. This is his third (or fourth?) drink since we started talking
“I know, me and Lucy saw her earlier” I say, still sipping my cocktail. I’m not nearly as drunk as Calum is.
“Yeah” He downs his drink, and puts the glass on the table.
Both of us look in their direction and we see Marissa and Stephen grinding on each other. They should just get a room.
And then I remember me and Calum dancing like that, and how my whole mind was spinning and how it felt like my organs were having their own party in my stomach.
As if he was remembering it too, or maybe he just got uncomfortable watching Marissa and Stephen, he looks away and Ashton includes him in the conversation they are having with Michael and some other girls. Wait. When did these girls come here?
Lucy is chatting to one of them. She seems kinda nice? Idk, can’t really hear their conversation. There is one sitting on the seat next to Ashton, her hand is on his knee, and he doesn’t seem to mind it. And the third one is sitting where Michael sat the last time I saw him, while he is leaning on the backrest of the half-circle couch. They are laughing, and Mikey and I make eye contact. I look at the two girls, as if asking ‘who are they?’ and Mikey just shrugs and smiles.
He then looks at me again, and motions his head towards the dance-floor downstairs. I laugh and finish my cocktail as I get up. Mikey formally gives me his hand and we decent down the stairs and onto the dance-floor.

Calum’s POV

She walks, her hair swaying behind her. Her heels make her almost as tall as Mike. I feel another jolt of jealousy. Stop it, Calum!
I start following the conversation, and ignoring Mike and Addie, probably dancing downstairs. I’ve been thinking about asking her to dance for the past half an hour, and Michael manages to do it with one look.
I remember how she reacted when I made out with that random girl last time we went out. Like she was jealous? But she was dancing with Mike then. Why would she be jealous. And then they disappeared. And then I overheard their conversation last night. Something happened between them.
I push the thoughts away, far far far away. And try to concentrate on what everyone is talking about. I notice the looks two of the girls give each other, and then look at Lucy, who is talking to the third one. Lucy is tipsy. Those are not good looks. Hopefully, she doesn’t notice them.
Luke has his hand around Lucy’s shoulders. Did something happen between them while i was talking to Addie.
My eyes automatically, as if liking the punishment, spot Michael and Addie dancing. She is laughing and they are dancing much more closer than they did the last time i saw them dancing.
Stop it, Calum. They can do whatever they want. It’s obvious they like each other. Stop it!!!
But no matter how many times I told my brain to stop it, it wouldn’t. They started playing old Red Hot Chilli Peppers songs, and Ash invites the girl next to him, who seemed suddenly very surprised and excited about the song, to dance.
The girl sitting in Michael’s spot, stands up with them and gives me a hand, inviting me to dance. I look back at Luke, and he winks at me. I smile and follow the girl down the stairs. From where we dance, I can’t see Addie, which may be a good thing, because the more this girl dances, the more I forget about Addie. I think her name is Eva or something like that? She hooks her arms around my neck and I place mine on her waist, and we move, grinding our bodies. She starts kissing my jaw line, and my neck and I make eye contact with Marissa, who is drinking her drink and looks incredibly furious at me, as if we’re still dating. I give her a little wave, because it’s just getting awkward, and she just rolls her eyes, going back to whatever Ashley was saying to her.
I manage to catch a glimpse of Addie and Mike, and their faces are really really close. Like, inches away, and I look away, grab Eva’s (?) chin, and i kiss her. She doesn’t move away, she kisses me back equally hard, and we start making out. And all I’m thinking is Addie and Mikey making out right now, and fury just builds up in me.
I break the kiss and open my eyes, the room swaying. I suddenly feel really sick. I kiss Eva on the cheek and excuse myself, as if I need to go to the bathroom (which I also need to do)
I walk to the bathroom. I pee, and then wash my hands and my face. I consciously try to not think about Mike and Addie and their chemistry, which makes me think about them more.
The bathroom is empty, and then Stephen walks in. With Chris.
They both look me up and give each other a knowing look. Great.
Addie’s POV
Mikey and I dance and I get really thirsty. I tell him so and we head back upstairs.
Luke and Lucy are talking, their faces inches away from each other. She is playing with the collar of his shirt, and he is fixed on her lips. Ash and Calum are missing, and so are all the girls. I remember seeing Calum dancing with one of them. The way me and him danced. So I just turned around and ignored them. Now they are gone, and I kind of regret not keeping an eye where they went.
Mikey brings me water, and four tequila shots.
“You didn’t have to” I say referring to to the tequila shots, and then drink my water.
“I got em for free” He smiles, and I raise my eyebrows as I keep drinking. “Lucy managed to get us free drinks all night.” He smiles and turns to Lucy who is laughing at something Luke said “You’re the best!” He yells at her. She notices us finally, and looks at the drinks.
“I know!” She yells back, and we all laugh.
“Where are Cal and Ash?” Luke asks, taking one of the shots.
“Probably pulling” Mike laughs.
All of us put salt on our hands, lick it, and then clink our shot glasses and drink. After we suck on the lemon slices, Luke takes out his phone, which apparently was vibrating in his pocket.
“Hello?” He yells into it. The music is too loud. Lucy and Mike are engaged into the ’talent scout’ conversation again, and I follow it a little bit, but something makes me keep my attention on Luke. His face changes and I follow his eyes to Marissa and her friends. He then gets up and leaves without another word.
Mikey and Lucy don’t notice, and in my drunken state, I decide it’s a good idea to follow Luke.
I lose him twice, but I manage to spot him both times.
“Slut” I hear Ashley say, as she walks into me and hits my shoulder, making me almost lose my balance.
“Piss off” I say and continue walking. I hear her laughing, and I’m not sure if she said something else, but I keep following Luke.
He is heading to the back door, behind the stage. I get stopped by someone, telling me it’s a restricted section, and I say something along the lines of “Dude, do I need to get Lucy?” and somehow it works. Wow, ok, Lucy really took control earlier. He let’s me go and I manage to navigate to the door.
I open it slowly, peeking outside. I see Calum sitting on a concrete bench.
“What the hell happened?” Luke says to him as he kneels in front of Calum. And then Calum spits and it’s blood.
“Marissa’s hit men” he says. I must’ve unconsciously started walking outside, silently when the door behind me shuts from the drafts with a loud slam.
Luke and Calum both look at me. I am shivering from the cold, but I can’t look away from Calum.
“Go back inside, Addie” Luke says standing up.
“What happened?” I ask. My voice a bit hoarse from all the shout-talking inside. When I don’t make a move towards the door, Luke turn to Calum expectant.
“They cornered me in the bathroom” Calum says. I start noticing the little cuts on his face, and his knuckles, and a big bruise forming on his jaw. He looks down, as if he knows that I am examining his bruises.
Luke is fuming, and takes out his phone.
“Who are you calling?” Calum asks.
“Ash, where you at man?” Luke says into his phone, and walks away to talk without us overhearing him. Or maybe so he can leave me and Cal alone. Not sure which one.
I approach Calum as if he is a wild animal, and sit next to him.
“Can you please go inside?” He says, still looking down.
I don’t say anything. I am too stunned that Marissa would stoop so low. Why? Because he was dancing with other girls? She didn’t own him, for fucks sake!
“You’re shivering” He states. And i notice how much I’m actually shaking. I don’t think it’s all from the cold.
I am going to destroy her.
“No, you’re not going to do anything” He answers. It takes me a moment to realise I said that out-loud.
Luke walks back, putting his phone in his pocket.
“Alright, so” Luke begins “Ash is getting Mike and Lucy, and we’re gonna go.
“Nah mate, we’re not going anywhere” Calum says, standing up. He sways a bit, but manages to get his balance back. He spits, and this time it’s only a little bit of blood “I just need a drink, and I’ll be fine”
He starts walking towards the door. Luke and I exchange a look.
We have to wait for Ash to open the door for us from the inside, and the warm air hits me so hard, I almost sigh in relief. My hands feel frozen, and I don’t even feel my toes.
We walk back. Ash and Cal go to get Calum washed up in the bathroom backstage, while Luke and I make our way back.
We meet Lucy on the stairs Michael right behind her, looking worried.
“Imma smack a bitch” she says, trying to get pass me.
“Alright, cool it” i say and take her hand, making her follow me.
“I swear to God, both of those thirsty bitches are gonna get it good” She says. I decide it’s a bad time to tell her that Ashley called me a slut when I was following Luke.
After a couple of minutes Calum and Ash come back. Calum looks calm, and there’s less blood on his face.
No one mentions it, and Ash gets us a bottle of vodka (this free-drink thing is really working out for us) and some mixers.
I notice Marissa looking angrier than ever, seeing Calum drink and chill with his friends after her friends beat him up. The moment I picture her telling Chris and Stephen to do that to Calum, my blood boils. And I can feel Lucy beside me, trying to control herself.
I remember to check my phone and see that it’s around 1:30am. My curfew is midnight. Great.
And to make things better (by better i mean worse), i have like 3 missed calls from my mom, and a couple from Aggie. As if that’s not enough, I have texts from both of them. I feel guilty leaving them home with Tom while I go to a club. And I haven’t even thought about them all night. I read my mom’s texts first.
‘Where are you?’
‘Answer your phone Addie!’
‘Please be very very very quiet when you come home. Please’
I was expecting the third one to be something along the lines of ‘you’re grounded for life’ but the fact that it wasn’t hurt me more. I could picture her trying to excuse my behaviour in front of Tom.
I read Aggie’s texts, my eyes tearing up
‘Addie for fuck’s sake, where are you?!’
‘I told Tom you were sleeping over at a friend’s. Didn’t say Lucy, because he might call Dan or something’
‘You had a sleepover. Watched movies. Fell asleep. Nothing eventful happened. Got it? I am trying really hard to bail you out. Said you texted me all this. Please “behave” tomorrow morning? He was in a foul mood’
Now I felt even worse.
I took a shot glass and poured vodka in it. And I repeated the process twice.
“Slow down” Ash laughs looking at me.
I just laugh and join Lucy and Luke’s conversation.
Time passes. We never split up. And then it’s time to leave. Calum and Ash go to get the cars, so we don’t have to go out the back. I noticed that Calum drank only one drink after he got beat up, and Ash hasn’t had a drink since before that.
After a couple of minutes, Lucy and I go to the bathroom to pee, and then we would join Mike and Luke outside.
The bathroom is packed with girls fixing their make up. Lucy stands in line as i wash my hands. They feel sweaty. When Lucy exits, I enter one of the stalls. As I pee I hear Lucy laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Ashley’s voice comes through. I hurry up, so I can stop Lucy from doing something stupid. Damn it her new hot temper.
“Please step off, or I might actually do something this time” Lucy says. I hear other girls talking with each other. I exit the stall, and head for the sink to wash my hands.
“I don’t think you will” Ashley takes a step towards Lucy. I see Lucy’s face and I know she is done taking shit, and the facts that she is drunk and might act on instinct isn’t helping, so I step in front of her.
“Literally no one cares what you have to say, or what you think. Lucy, let’s go” I grab Lucy’s hand. She is glaring at Ashley.
And then Ashley scoffs. As if she won. I feel Lucy planting her feet and I turn back.
“I ate girls like you for lunch back in California, so do not test. Last warning” Lucy says calmly. Too calmly. And then she is out of the door. I manage to catch Marissa’s eyes, and I may have imagined it, but I think I saw fear in them. Good.
We exit just as Mikey enters Ash’s car, and Luke closes the door to Calum’s.
Lucy waves at Mikey and Ash, and joins Luke in the backseat. I go to Ash’s car, and Mikey pulls the window down.
“So the bathroom trip was fun.” I say and they both look at me with the same question on their mind, so I answer it before they ask it “Ashley-Lucy drama. I think Lucy handled herself well. No fights, no nothing. Although I think Marissa may be a little scared of Lucy now” I laugh.
“Mate, I’m scared of Lucy” Ash says and we laugh.
“I’ll call you tomorrow” Mike says and smiles.
“Drive safe. Please no speeding” I say to Ashton and then I head to Calum’s car. He is drumming his hands on the steering wheel. I put on my seat belt. Lucy is almost passed out on the backseat.
“Did they just..collapse?” I ask as I face the road. Calum mumbles a confirmation and we’re off. I feel like sleeping as well. I didn’t realise how tired I was. So I lean my head on the window, and close my eyes.
Calum’s POV
“You sure you’re alright?” Luke asks, as he exits the car. We already left Lucy, and made sure she got in. Her parents were sleeping. Addie has ben sleeping the whole way back.
“Yeah, mate. We hang at Ash’s tomorrow?” I ask. He nods, says goodnight and then I’m driving home. Addie has her arms crossed. She must be freezing, even though the heating is turned on.
I park my car in the driveway. For a minute I don’t do anything. I just watch Addie sleep. Which is creepy, and also the reason why I stopped watching her, and gently shook her shoulder.
“Addie” I whisper, so I don’t startle her. She opens her eyes and slowly takes in her surroundings. “We’re home” I say.
“I can’t be here” She says, blinking slowly.
“What?” I chuckle.
“Aggie told me to sleep somewhere else because that’s what she told Tom. Because I didn’t come back by curfew.” She says. Her voice is low and a bit raspy from sleep.
“Crap” I say “Why didn’t you say anything, I would’ve taken you to Lucy” She’s probably asleep by now.
She shrugs, still very sleepy, hugging herself for warmth. Since I turned off the engine, the car started getting colder and colder.
“You can sleep over at mine?” I offer. She just nods. And then I’m dreading it. I can’t bring her in my bedroom. It will be impossible to sneak her out tomorrow. Plus…she’ll have to sleep in my bed. And I’m really drunk. I don’t trust myself. Fuck.
But all I do is open the door, take my backpack which I forgot I even had. Could’ve used the change of clothes since my shirt has blood on it.
I slowly unlock the front door, and enter. Addie takes off her heels, and makes a noise that sends shivers through out my whole body.
It’s really dark and I take her hand, guiding her up the stairs. We enter my bedroom, and I am relieved to see it’s kinda tidy.
She sits on my bed and looks around my room. The last time she was here, she was crying because her dad showed up. I walk up to my closet and find basketball shorts and a t-shirt.
“You can sleep in these. I’ll wait outside while you change” I say, putting them next to her on the bed and walking outside. I go in the bathroom and wash my face multiple times with cold water.
She is in my room. On my bed. And will soon be wearing my clothes. Crap, crap crap. I examen my face in the mirror. It looks worse than earlier. Maybe I’m more sober that I was. I touch the bruise forming on my jaw and almost jump with pain. That will hurt like a bitch for a couple of days. The cuts on my face are a bit red. I unbutton my shirt and see some bruises on the side of my torso. They don’t look serious. I recall what Stephen and Chris were saying to me. I can’t make sense of it.
‘You leave Marissa for that tramp?!’
‘Must be sad when your tramp leaves you for your best friend’
‘You think it’s alright to fuck up Marissa’s life like this do you?’
All between hits and kicks, and not in chronological order. They said more, but I don’t exactly remember, because I cannot make sense of it. God knows what she told them. Bitch.
I wash my face one more time, and exit to meet Mali on the threshold of my door.
“Why are you awake?” I whisper moving pass her and taking my pajama bottoms.
“What the hell happened to you?” She says, staring at my torso. I should’ve put my shirt back on.
“It’s nothing” I say going back to the bathroom so I can change. I hear Mali asking Addie what happened, but I don’t exactly hear Addie’s answer. I come back in the room.
“We’re gonna talk about this tomorrow morning” She says to me. She really looks concerned and scared, and I almost feel disappointed that she didn’t tease me about Addie. She kisses my cheek and walks to her room.
I close the door of my room and face Addie. She’s wearing the clothes I gave her, and they seem really big on her.
“I can sleep on the floor” She says eyeing me. I notice her eyes glance at my exposed chest, and she consciously looks me in the eyes.
“Don’t be ridiculous” I say. I grab one of my pillows from the bed, and two blankets from the back of my closet. She doesn’t protest, just gets under the covers and turns towards me. I look up and almost can’t even see her eyes in the dark.
“Thanks for adopting me” She whispers.
“Anytime” I smile at her.
“Are you hurt?” She asks me. I laugh because it’s so obvious that I am. “Is it still hurting?” She rephrases her question after laughing as well.
“A bit” I lie.
“You don’t have to sleep on the floor” she says, her voice very small, I almost think I imagined her saying that.
“Where else would I sleep?” I ask her. She smiles, and makes room on the bed for me. I lie for a moment, contemplating if this is a good idea or not. It’s not. It’s definitely not.
Addie’s POV
He lies for a moment on the floor and then gets up, bringing his pillow, and joins me under the covers. There isn’t much room on the bed, so we’re almost touching. Almost. I feel like I’m on a boat. I feel more drunk than I felt in the club. My ears are buzzing and I do the stupidest thing I could do. I boop his nose. Why? Because I felt like it. But is that a good enough reason to do it? Absolutely not. Sober Addie would be disappointed.
“You cold?” He asks. I notice that I’m shivering, so i nod. He motions for me to come closer, and I do, and then we are cuddling. One of my hands is on his chest. His body is really warm and I can hear his heart slamming against his chest. I close my eyes and relax into him. I feel him kiss the top of my hair before I drift off to sleep.
I wake up with a faint memory of a dream of me running. My eyes shot open and for a moment I forget where I was, so I jump up.
I feel Calum’s hand slide from my waist and realise that we were spooning. And then I remember where I was and everything comes back to me. Including the drunkness. The room goes around me a couple of times, making me a bit ill.
“You okay?” I hear Calum mumble. I nod, not sure if he can see me, and lie back down. He snuggles closer to me, and I can feel his breath on the back of my neck. I can also feel something else against my backside. Oh boy.
His hand comes back around me and his thumb draws lazy circles on my stomach. It’s soothing. Also, it does something else to me. I push the thought away. But then he kisses the back of my neck and it does things to me I haven’t really experienced.
But then I feel his thumb stopping and his breaths even out, and I know he is sleeping and I force myself to fall asleep again.
