One Thing

Chapter 4

~Chapter 4~

I was in a nice peaceful sleep, when I head the door slam open and bang against the wall. I heard a loud ear piercing scream, which made me jolt forward and turn on the bedroom lamp. I saw one of Melissa's friends charging towards her in her pajamas with her blackberry in her hand.

"Oh My Fucking God. Alisha. What the heck?" Melissa shouted, nearly waking up the corridor, not like Alisha did that anyway.

Alisha started hyperventilating, "The biggest boy band over the world is coming to study at our school." She showed us her phone with the tweet written by Harry Styles.

'Oh, You've got to be having a laugh. Really?'

I pretended that I didn't know anything and started screaming with them, it was better than no one knew I was friends with one direction because everyone will try to make friends with me, just to get to them. I checked the clock to check if it was a good time to get up.

6:45. Seems fine to me.

I ran into the bathroom, but grabbing some clothes before doing so and had a quick shower. It was Monday morning and it was my first day of school, but it was halfway through the year for everyone else. In America there is a different term dates and we have longer holidays then they do here in England.

I couldn't be bothered to wash my hair, so I hopped out of the shower before Melissa complained that there was no hot water left. I put on my gray jeggings and an old shirt from aerospace. I brushed my hair and place it in a long ponytail.

I walked out of my room without Melissa. I still had to go to the office to get my timetable and get a locker. I walked to the receptionist and she greeted me with the same smile when I first met her. She sat down at her computer and printed me off the timetable that the headmaster organised for me. And gave me the locker number and what floor it was on.

I ran back to the dorm and grabbed my backpack. Melissa grabbed my timetable before I could find my locker and first classroom.

"Yay! We nearly have every lesson with each other." she smiled with glee. Melissa threw some clothes on quickly and followed me out the door. Melissa and I went to the form room, we had the same teacher for morning registration and last lesson.

Melissa walked straight to Mr. Todd with me following behind. "Mr. Todd, this is Lizzie. She's new." Melissa left after introducing me.

"Hi, My name's Mr. Todd. Why don't you take a seat next to Melissa." he pointed the seat next to Melissa and this really cute boy.

I dumped my bag in front of me and Mr. Todd gave me a organiser to write down all my homework. I hope I didn't have a lot to catch up on, I have never done any homework and we hardly didn't do anything in lessons, apart from texting and throwing notes around the room.

"Alright, students. Hope you had a great weekend. First of all if you are in Mr. Clark's class you will be changing to Food Technologhy. Some exciting news, we have a new student joining us today, her name is Lizzie. I want you to treat her as you do with any of the others in this school. Lizzie, why don't you come up and say a bit about yourself."

I looked at Melissa for sympathy. I hated talking in front of people, it wasn't really my thing. I was normally the girl that was smart. I sighed and slid out from behind the desk and stood where Mr. Todd was once standing.

"Hi, my name is Lizzie Swan. I use to live in America, Californa and now I live here in England. I moved here to spend time with my dad, but he left me here to board this school. I love to listen to music and I use to love going to the beach." I looked back to Mr. Todd and sat down in my seat.

The bell rang and people were rushing out of the door to get to next lesson, "Wait! I forgot to tell you. There is a school dance on Thursday, and there will be no school on Thursday for you to go into town and get some clothes."

We cheered and a few high fives going around. School Dance! How am I supposed to find a date and a dress in less than four days?

I walked out of my class checking my timetable and heading up to the next floor, for maths. The maths teacher droned on about how to get higher results in our test marks, so I just zoned out and coloured in squares from my book.

The day went on with nothing really exciting. I sat down at lunch with Melissa and her friends and she talked about football. I'm not really into football that much, so I had no idea what they were talking about.

Suddenly a nerdy boy with black hair and icy blue eyes wearing glasses on his face and having a few red spots on his forehead and chin wrapped his arm around me. I was a little confused at first, so I turned and looked at him and he introduced himself.

"My name is Thomas Ford. I am head of the school newspaper and you are big news. Lizzie Swan."

He brought his camera up to my eye line and snapped a picture, nearly making me blind from the flash. I blinked to regain my sight and faced Thomas again. "I'd like to interview you on Wednesday, meet me in the senior common room."

Before I got a chance to answer, he got up and dashed away.

"Well that wasn't akward at all. Note the sarcasm." I finished my lunch and threw the tray away.

I didn't have anything exciting the following day. Tuesday always had been a boring day for me. When wednesday came I was nervous about talking to Tom; I didn't want the whole school to know everything about me.

I had to wait till lunch time to talk to Tom, he wanted us to have lunch together. Everyone said to keep an eye on him, they say he's the school weirdo.

The bell rang and I rushed to the cafeteria, to grab lunch. After grabbing my tray, I felt someone grab my arm and pull me out of the line and into a dimly lit room. I turned around, trying not to drop anything from my tray.

I came face to face with Thomas. "Jesus Thomas, you nearly scared me half to death."

"Sorry, I wanted to do the interview now. Then you can have lunch."

"Oh, ok. So..What do you wanna ask me?" I kinda said awkwardly.

"Where did you live, before coming to England?"

"I lived in California with my Mum and just like a week ago i moved in with my Dad, but now I board here." I said.

"Ok. Next question. What are you studying here?"

"I'm planning to study Music, Drama, English, Religious Studies."

"I see that your studying the arts. What do you want to be when your older?"

"I want to be someone famous. I want to be noticed by not one or two people but a couple of thousand people. I want to be remembered for who I am, not for what people think I am." I said honestly.

Thomas nodded while writing it down on a notepad. "Ok. Final question. Do you have a boyfriend?" I was taken off guard by the question and I didn't realise Thomas leaning closer and pressing his lips to mine.

I instantly slapped him and picked up my bag and went back to the lunch hall. I wiped the taste of his kiss of my mouth, grabbed some lunch and sat down with Melissa.

"Hey, we have a tradition here at school, wherever we have a school dance. We go into London to buy dresses. The girls and I were thinking about going and were wondering if you want to tag along." Melissa offered.

"Yeah sure. I'd love to come." I smiled at them politley. After lunch, the girls and I chilled out in the teen lounge because we didn't have any lessons after lunch, we were supossed to be revising, but we couldn't be bothered. We decided to get some rest, and we went back to our dorms.

We all had a free day tomorrow, so we decided to go shopping in London for the dance, even though it was a couple of days away. I went into the bathroom and got changed into my pyjamas, and tied up my hair into a pony tail. I slipped underneath the bed covers and fell into a deep sleep.
