Amp It Up (X Factor, Niall Horan, One Direction Love Story)

Chapter 16

TAYLOR SWIFT AND HARRY STYLES BACK TOGETHER?!

That's right folks, you read that right! The “I Knew You Were Trouble” country super star Taylor Swift and Harry Styles from hit pop band One Direction are back together! Sources spotted a very flustered Taylor leaving Harry's guest room at X Factor Studios late last night, and apparently things are getting serious.

It's too soon to tell," Says a trusted source. “But Harry's crazy about her, he got down on his knees and begged for her forgiveness. They're talking moving in together once his flat is renovated.”

We wish the happy couple the best, as we might be hearing wedding bells soon!

Harry's cursing filled the room along with a loud thump against the wall as he threw the gossip magazine against the wall. I flinched back away from him, sitting with Niall and Zayn on the couch.

“This is just bloody perfect!” Harry bellowed. “That sorry excuse of a woman comes back here and expects everything to be alright again, just like that! Ga, I HATE HER.”

Niall and I kept quiet as Zayn tried to calm a now crying Harry down and took him back to his room.

We sat in silence for a while, not really believing what had transpired.

Someone had seen Taylor leave Harry's room last night, and it was all over the Internet and gossip columns. Harry had told us they'd just screamed at each other, nothing else. But the hickey on his neck said other wise.

“Well, this has been sufficiently awkward,” I said, clasping my hands in front of me and standing. “I need to go slap Ryan, and find songs for this week. You coming?” I asked Niall. He chuckled and followed me out the door.

“So, why exactly do ya want to slap Ryan again?” He asked. I adjusted my bag on my shoulder.

“The dump has taken nearly three weeks to sort this crap out with Natalie, and I'm fed up.” I replied. He stiffened visibly. He hated the fact that I was still fake dating Ryan, even though we hadn't put a label on anything. If he wanted to officially ask me out, then so be it. Otherwise I considered myself single.

“I wish you'd just tell Natalie what's going on, pay Darren, and then date me,” Niall muttered.

“I can't do that until they sort their issues out!” I groaned.

“So you're admitting that you would date me?!” Niall asked quickly. I rolled my eyes. “Yes Niall, I'd date you and I am planning on dating you, I just have a lot to deal with right now!”

“I'll wait then,” Niall told me, and dropped a kiss on my cheek. I blushed bright red.

“So it's not just a fling to you?” I asked quietly. Niall's hand tangled with mine softly as we walked to my room.

“At first I thought it was just a crush, but now... I don't know, it's something else now.” Niall replied.

I bit my lip and walked even more quickly, a smile on my face. I could deal with Niall, but Ryan and my Mom and Dad were something else.

Mom's name flashed up on the screen of my phone and I groaned and declined it. Niall looked at me curiously, but didn't comment.

Mom had called me repeatedly all day yesterday. I hadn't called her back due to calling Vanessa, meeting Taylor Swift, and sleeping with Niall.

Wow that sounds wrong.

He wouldn't do the things he did if it was a fling, right? The spontaneous hugs, the park, him pulling me back into bed with him. His eyes, more blue then any I'd ever seen, his hair growing more brown by the day with just the tips a light blonde. And his hands were amazing.

I opened the door to my room and ushered Niall through it first, drawing in a quick breath when his hand trailed down my back as he walked past me with a smile.

I mentally shook myself as Mom called again, and I answered and readied myself for the storm. I motioned Niall to sit down as I took the call.

“Kelly Dianne Melendez! How DARE you decline me! Young lady if you don't start learning respect then I'm bringing you back home!” She raged.

I sighed. “Mom, I was busy. I can't talk to you every time you call, you need to realize that and calm down. What do you need?”

“What do I NEED?! Your dad is taking the house and everything from me! He's taking my kitchen! Call him and talk to him right now and make him change his mind about taking my house!” She bellowed.

I stared at the phone in shock. I had never heard my mother raise her voice so much in my life. But I guess she had a right to be mad, Dad built that house for her exactly how she wanted it, she was nagging him for years to build it. That was her place to rule, an untouchable fortress that dad and I treaded around softly, careful not to wear anything other than socks on her religiously polished floors.

She was probably having a cow over how the neighbors were gossiping about her. Serves her right for gossiping about them when their husbands ran around on them. Karma always gets you.

“Mom, I'm currently not speaking to Dad, and this is between you and him not me! Keep me out of this!” I snapped at her. I faced away from Niall, hissing into the phone.

“Kelly, what's wrong?” Niall asked. I waved him away and walked past him to the bathroom and went to the bathroom, closing the door behind me.

I felt awful for leaving him out there alone, but he didn't need to hear me fight with my Mom.

I jolted when she started yelling again.

“HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO STAND UP TO HIM?!” My mother wailed. “YOU WERE ALWAYS THE BRAVE ONE!”

“Correction, Mom, I was always the nice one. You just don't care about anything but yourself, and you never will. Just give it up.” I told her.

I was being a bit harsh, but after seventeen years worth of her always worrying weather I was too fat, or too ugly, or if the house's floors weren't shiny enough, or if anyone wold notice the slight mole under her left eyebrow, I was fed up with her being so self absorbed.

“Mom, call Dad, ask for the house but let him take whatever furniture he wants.”

I cut off her protests. “He hates the style you decorated in anyway, he won't take anything but his office stuff.”

She was speechless on the other end of the phone. “And sell your wedding bands and engagement ring, you'll need the cash if he does end up taking the house. Call Gran if you need someone, I'm tired of picking up the pieces for you. Call me when you learn to do stuff for yourself.”

I hung up, feeling worse now that I'd said those things to her. I'd always imagined standing up to her and Dad, and telling them how I felt but now that I'd done it nothing had changed.

Mom was never going to change, I had to except that. Her main priority was always going to be herself, not me or Dad.

If I needed her, which wasn't likely I'd call her. And vise versa.

I turned my phone off and washed my face. I hadn't realized that I was crying while I was yelling at Mom. My eyes were red and puffy, and my nose was running.

I blew my nose, wiped my eyes, and went back out to Niall.

He was sitting on my bed silently, playing with his hands. He stood when the door opened, and as I opened my mouth to speak he crossed the room and engulfed me in a hug.

I hugged him back at once. Tightening my arms around him, I tried not to cry again as his hand stroked my hair gently as I nestled into the crook of his neck.

He stood there holding me for a long while, I don't know how long. Eventually he moved me to the bed and sat me on his lap with his arms still around me. His fingers stroked the palm of my hand as we sat, his chin resting on my head gently.

“Do ya want to talk about it?” Niall asked softly. I shook my head against his chest and sniffed.

“Not really, there's not anything to tell, honest.” I replied, and wiped my eyes again. Niall's thumb was distracting me as it trailed back and forth on the back of my hand. I shifted my head back to the crook of his neck.

“You know you can tell me anything, right?” Niall inquired. I smiled against his skin.

“I know.”

He waited a moment, and when I didn't say anything else he sighed and started to push me off his lap. I could tell I'd hurt him by not telling him, I clung to him and pushed him back down and stopped him from moving.

“My Mom and Dad are getting a divorce, and they're trying to drag me in the middle of it,” I said. “That's why I've been so stressed, I'm sorry I didn't tell you.”

Niall's wrapped his arms around me again and buried his face in my neck.

“I'm so sorry,” He muttered. “Me Mum and Dad divorced too, but it wasn't messy or anythin'.”

“Yeah, I kind of already knew that, I'm a Directioner remember?” I replied. Niall laughed.

He was just so sweet. I couldn't get over how nice he was, and funny, and just flat out adorable. From his soft, fluffy hair to his bright blue eyes right down to his beautifully pouted lips, he was just adorable.

“You're adorable, you know that right?” I asked. Niall chuckled. “You are too babe.”

We sat for another moment, me drinking his presence in. Then Niall suddenly pulled back and looked at me inquiringly.

“Wait, adorable? What about hot? Sexy? Buff?” He asked. I snorted into my hand and tried to snuggle back into him, but he wouldn't let me, trying to keep eye contact.

“At the moment you're just adorable, not sexy sweety.” I replied. Niall looked hurt.

“I am too sexy!” He pouted. I pecked his lips quickly.

“Nope, just adorable.”

“I'll show you sexy,” Niall muttered.

“Wha-” I started to say, but a few seconds later he had my body pinned to the bed by my wrists. I stared up at him, shocked when he nearly growled.

His mood change had been instantaneous, and instead of playful I saw a determined guy set on proving a point.

“Niall, get off.” I said weakly. His breath fanned my face smelling of mint. His hands flexed around my wrists slightly as he made himself comfortable on top of me.

“Not going to happen.” He replied, and then his mouth was on mine.

I tried to resist for a moment. His hot and needy lips worked to coax a response from me, and when I stayed limp he bit my lower lip harshly and I gasped involuntarily. His tongue slipped into my mouth as he released my wrists, and I wound my hands into his hair and tugged unabashedly.

Niall's groan as I did so and my whimper of pleasure when his mouth moved to my neck were the only sounds in the room. His lips trailed up and down my sensitive skin until I jumped when they kissed a certain place, and then he parted his mouth and began to suck harshly.

I couldn't get enough of his hair. My fingers twisted through it, twirling round until it was tangled and standing tall in a messy quiff. His teeth grazed my neck when I slipped my hands under his long sleeved tee-shirt and trailed them down over his soft skin. When my hands reached the hemline of it I gripped it and tugged it up.

Niall stopped kissing my neck long enough to pull the clothing over his head, and then his mouth was on mine. His hands stroked down my arm and over my waist, gently fingering the buttons to my shirt. One popped open, and his lips were covering the newly exposed skin with renewed fervor when I didn't stop him from undressing me.

“You k-know, I really like your hair when it has brown roots,” I gasped out. Niall's hands had worked through two more buttons. My thin white tank top was exposed then, and I aided Niall in unbuttoning the rest of my outer shirt.

He rolled and brought me on top of him and slid it off of me, leaving me in the thin cotton tank top that wasn't nearly high cut enough. His eyes zeroed in on my cleavage, which made me slightly uncomfortable.

He held me on top of him by my waist, me straddling his lower stomach and my hands resting on his chest as he considered his next move.

“Niall!” I shrieked when he flipped us over again. There was nothing adorable about him in that moment, just pure unadulterated hotness in his eyes. He practically smoldered.

Niall came to rest between my legs as he kissed me again. My hands ran up his back slowly, feeling the muscles in his back flex as he shifted. I hitched a leg up around his waist and he gently lowered his-

The door opened with a bang.

Niall and I separated instantaneously. He rolled to the side, and I jumped off the bed and stood with my heart racing.

“This complicates things, doesn't it?” Natalie said viciously. She spun on her heel. “Wait till Ryan finds out!” She sang. She was out the door like a bullet, and I nearly screamed. Why on earth did I think I liked her again?

I kissed a confused Niall on the cheek and ran out the door, taking the short way around to Ryan's room. Natalie was going in the other direction, to a elevator that led just to his room.

But the stairs were quicker.

I t slid baseball style into Ryan's room in record time, already yelling for him.

But he wasn't there. I was crouched on the floor, the door slammed against the wall and my eyes wide with horror when Natalie ran in.

“RYAN I HAVE SOMETHING TO- Where is he!?” She started yelling then noticed he wasn't there.

Our eyes met, hers full of desperation, mine full of determination.

My mind raced, and I tried to remember his schedule. Not vocal lessons, not eating, not his weekly talk with Simon...

He had to be practicing on stage, it would be the only other place he would be at this hour.

Natalie realized that at the same moment I did, and we were both off again, down different hallways yet again.

I dodged the girl band who tried to trip me up as they came out of a studio, then ran around Nathan and Charles from Boxing Beats, the boy band. I then jumped over a box of stage props and made a worker drop something that sounded like it broke, I didn't exactly stick around to make sure. I was panting and out of breath when I saw it.

The door.

I burst through it to the stage first, Natalie bursting through the door at the opposite side of the stage.

Ryan was singing. And it was then that I knew Ryan had found his song.

Not just a song that he liked, or loved. But a song that described everything that had happened to him.

It was The Hardest Thing by Tyler Ward.

Natalie and I froze on either side of the stage, our eyes locked on Ryan.

Just watching this boy, this boy that I had grown to love in the most pure and unromantic way possible, the boy that Natalie was in love with and would throw away anything and everything for, sing his heart out to a empty stadium.

Something big was about to happen, I could feel it. Ryan hadn't seen either of us, it was just him pouring his emotions into his music.

“And I won't forget you. Don't regret you The hardest thing I've had to do is live without you.
And I wonder why we both walked away.”

Natalie clapped her hand over her mouth and stared at Ryan, all malicious intentions gone. She was just staring at him with her eyes wide. Ryan's voice was fuller and richer than I'd ever heard before. This was his song.

“I'm lost without you, still crazy for you, just turn around come back because your smile is overdue.”

I was considering videoing this. I could sell it to a movie producer and make millions. These kinds of moments don't happen in real life, it's as simple as that.
“And I miss you.”Ryan's voice held the note for a long moment, his eyes closed as he savored it.

Just when I thought that Natalie was going to run to him and kiss him she turned and began to walk away. Her shoulders were shaking with silent sobs. I felt sorry for her, this had to be an emotional roller coaster.

It was after that I panicked and started jumping up and down until I got Ryan's attention. He stared at me questioningly as the music played and the love of his life walked away from him while he stared at me.

I face palmed when he didn't get my frantic hand motions, and I gave up and pointed at Natalie, who was almost to the door.

“Go get her dimwit!” I cried.

It was then that Ryan put his microphone back to his mouth and instead of going after her, he began the second verse of the song.
If I only knew the words to say, that would make you turn around” He sang desperately as Natalie's hand fell on the doorhandles. She froze. Ryan was facing her, and away from me. I could just see his tensed back muscles, one of her hands clenched at his side.

“I would say those words to you, more than a million times.”

I was almost crying now. It was just too perfect, my OTP were in the middle of a serious and romantic moment and all I could do was break down and cry.

Natalie's hand fell away from the door handle as Ryan sang the next few words.

“It's been forever but that hasn't changed, what you mean to me,”

His voice cracked on 'Me'. He was crying too. His hand reached across empty air, as though he could touch her, even though she was over twenty feet away.
“And darling can't you see?”

He skipped directly into the chorus, and I pressed a hand over my mouth to keep from sobbing loudly at the sheer perfection of it all.

“I'm sorry for all I did, what I said and the things I hid. I'm finally over me, is that too late for you? I can't imagine where I'd be, if you had never rescued me. You gave me hope to live.”

His voice was quiet, begging almost as he sang the beautiful words. The start to something new, something beautiful.

“Now I need you. Yes, I need you” Were his last words before the music stopped, the band members were frozen, staring at the couple before them

At that, Natalie turned around and faced him.

And by faced him, I meant she faced him. She looked at him, he looked at her. And in that moment you could tell they were excepting each other for how they were. The good, the bad, and all the in-betweens.

A screeching noise. Ryan's microphone dropped to the stage floor, and Natalie ran to him, hugging Ryan so hard I thought his lungs would burst. His arms were around her, hers around him, and his face was buried in her neck as they spun around on the spot. He drew back a moment later and wiped her tears from her face with his thumb. He was facing me then, I could see the tear stains on his cheeks.

“Don't leave me.”

I barely heard Natalie's whisper as Ryan kissed her forehead.

“I'm never leaving you Nat,” Ryan vowed. “As long as you'll have me, I'll never leave.”

Natalie sniffed and grinned through her tears. “Even if I get drunk and fill the pool with glitter again?” She asked. Ryan laughed and kissed her on the nose, looking her in the eyes.

“Especially if you glitter up the pool.” He replied. He tucked her head under his chin as they hugged again, and his hopeful eyes met mine for the first time. He looked down at Natalie, then back at me, his expression torn when he saw my tears. I just shook my head at him and smiled as I sniffed.

That was the deal. I knew if we made him choose, he'd choose love over friendship. I didn't let him choose though. I made the decision for him.

I turned, and still crying at the perfection that was my best friend, I walked away.
