Frida stayed silent as you could see her anger flare. She wasn’t liking the fact that her husband had offered help to a vampire, but at the same time she wasn’t going to say anything against him. If he offered help, she was going to stand behind that decision and take a bite out of the sour apple. I hadn’t realized I had stopped breathing until I felt Niall’s arm once again snake around my waist. I broke my gaze I had on Frida to look at the only reason I was in this mess. No it wasn’t his fault that Simon had taken my baby away from me, but it was his fault that he was here. I had told him to stay out of my business.

“We are truly grateful that you’re going to help us. Even though it’s a great inconvenience to the both of you.” Niall spoke. Frida nodded her head and Casp shook his. I slowly placed my hand on his thigh and looked at him. Even though he was a huge pain in my ass he was important to me. And Frida needed to understand that.

“I need to talk to Frida alone. Can I do that?” I let my eyes move to Casp who had his arm around his wife. Both of the men nodded their heads and stood up. As they left the room I felt Frida relax a little and I silently rolled my eyes. “You know you’re acting like a fucking brat right?”

“Excuse me?” Frida whipped her head towards me and gave me a cold stare. “How can you say that? He’s one of them. One of those who has ruined your life forever. How dare you call me a brat?” I sighed and leaned forward as I looked at her. I knew she did all of this to protect me, but it was starting to annoy me.

“Niall is different.” She snorted and crossed her arms.

“Do I really need to remind you that you said the same thing about Simon?” I felt my shield waver as my anger aroused.

“Don’t you even try to compare Niall to that monster. Niall is nothing like him.” She must’ve felt that my shield was doing something, but she didn’t back off.

“Oh please. He’s only here to lead Si to you, and you know it.” Her smug face vanished her I stood up from the couch and made her do the same. She had always been slightly afraid of what I could do.

“Compare them one more time, and you will not have a fucking couch anymore.” Her hands slowly came up in front of her in surrender but her face looked like stone. We both stayed quiet as we stared at each other. Somewhere along the way I think both she and I remembered that we were best friends. We loved each other no matter what, and would do anything for the other.

“I will not love him because you do.” I nodded after she spoke and gently eased my shield off her.

“I do not expect you to. Although you need to be civil. He’s a person just like you, and I love him a lot.” She stared at me for a long time before sighing and motioning for me to let her go. I hadn’t realized I had Frida locked in her standing position. As my shield let her move she sat down and put her arms on her knees and rested her head in her hands.

“And you never understand how you get yourself in these situations.” She shook her head and I could tell she had her eyes closed.

“I’m sorry? What exactly do you mean by that?” She faked laughed and looked up at me with a tired expression.

“I love you, and you know that. But you always end up in stupid situations because of someone like him. And every time you don’t know how you got there.” She shook her head once more and I just gave up. I sat down and looked out into the kitchen where I could see Niall and Casp standing there talking. I knew Niall could hear everything we were saying, because every now and then he would look our way.

“Are you saying I shouldn’t go after her?” Frida’s head snapped up and she stared at me in disbelief.

“Of course not! I’m just saying he didn’t need to come with you.” I bit the inside of my cheek to stop myself from yelling at her.

“He was going to get killed if I left him behind.” She just shrugged and looked in to the kitchen.

“He may look like one of us, but he isn’t. He’s the predator and we’re the bait.”

“Oh shut up. The only difference between us is that he can hold his breath longer.”

“He eats people.” I snorted.

“He can survive on animal blood. And you also eat animals.” I took a deep breath to see if she was going to say anything. “I accepted Casp.” Her eyes burned into my skull as she stayed quiet. “I never got to meet him. We both swore that we would meet the others partner before we got married. And I accepted Casp.”

“He’s human. Through and through.” I shook my head at her stupidity and stood up.

“You’re my best friend. Accept the one I love, please. And don’t make me choose.” I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I can’t choose between you three.” That got through to her. Her eyes went wide and she began to nod her head. She understood that she couldn’t make me choose between my best friend, the man I loved and someone else that was thrown into the mix. My daughter.

News update: I got sick just after posting the last chapter! And then I got a job! WOO! I am working as an assistant to a little boy, and it's awesome!
