Kate P.O.V

It is now ten in the morning. Liam is still sleeping and I’m still wrapped up in his arms. Last night was perfect for me. After dinner Liam and I went out for a walk in the cool night. We wandered around aimlessly just talking about nothing and everything. By the time we got back to the hotel it was one in the morning. Both of us collapsed on the bed before we could even get our phones on the charger. Taking a deep breath I untangle myself from Liam and grab my phone from the table where I tossed it last night. I grab my charger from the wall and head to the living area of our hotel room. Turning on the tv I head to the kitchen to start making breakfast or lunch. I haven’t exactly decided yet. Setting my phone on the charger I keep it near by in case Sam calls. I know she will there is not anyway that she will not. Looking in the fridge I decide on making breakfast and coffee.

“Good morning Kate. I woke up and you were not there. I figured you would be in the living room seeing as the tv is on. Is everything okay? Something just seems off.” Liam says making me jump a little bit.

“Yeah I’m fine and I figured food would be in order seeing as how we haven't ate in over twelve hours.” I reply as Liam comes up behind me and gives me a kiss on the cheek and reaching for my phone.

“Sam’s called you a couple of times. And here she is calling again. Isn’t late where she is?” Liam states as he answers the phone. “Hi Sam how is Niall? Glad to hear he is doing good. How are you you sound worn out? I will give the phone to Kate. Get some sleep when you are done. I don’t want to worry about you and lack of sleep with the next leg of the tour happening soon.”Liam hands me the phone and takes over making the food. I head to the living room and plop down on the couch.

“Hey Sam. What’s going on?” Sam fills me in on what we are going to have to do. I really do not like the way her voice is wavering from exhaustion and I don’t know what else. If she can’t be strong in this then how are we supposed to be strong. “Can I make one request? If we do have to leave the lads can it be Liam that we keep in the loop. I wouldn’t ask if I thought someone else would be better for it. He is the “daddy” of the group, and he is not a loud mouth.” I hear Sam say she will keep it in mind. When we hang up Liam is right there with the food. I try to force a smile on my face. I am going to miss having this goofball around all the time.

“What was that call about? Like you said the other night Sam wouldn’t call unless it was important. So what is so important? And don’t lie to me Kate I know something is bothering you since you have barely touched your coffee.” Liam asks once we are watching a movie that he put in. He is also running his fingers through my hair. This is why I love Liam he makes feel safe enough to tell him anything. But this is one thing I can not tell him. I do not want to panic him when it might be unnecessary.

“Can we not talk about that right now please? Let’s just enjoy this moment. I know we argued no secrets anymore but trust me on this one. I will tell you if you need to know.” I say getting up and walk out the door leaving Liam to watch the movie by himself for a split second before he follows after the door is slammed shut.

Liam’s P.O.V

I wake up and find that Kate is not next to me anymore. I think for a moment trying to remember where I am considering I had a bit to drink last night. I also wonder where Kate would have disappeared to. I hear the tv running in the next room and I’m guessing that is where Kate is. I get up and head that way remembering that I am in Montana with Kate. I may or may not have had one too many drinks last night. When I get to the living room Kate is not anywhere to be seen. The smell of food gives me the idea that Kate is in the Kitchen. I see her with her back to me and phone on the side of the counter next to her. Over the past couple of years we have been together I’ve noticed that the only reason she would keep her phone that close is if something big is happening.

“Good morning Kate. I woke up and you were not there. I figured you would be in the living room seeing as the tv is on. Is everything okay? Something just seems off.” I say making her jump a little.

I don’t pay attention to her response I kiss her on the cheek and grab her phone that has a few missed calls from Sam. “Sam’s called you a couple of times. and here she is calling again. Isn’t late where she is?” Right as I have Kates phone in my hand Sam is calling again. “Hi Sam how is Niall? Glad to hear he is doing good. How are you you sound worn out? I will give the phone to Kate. Get some sleep when you are done. I don’t want to worry about you and lack of sleep with the next leg of the tour happening soon.” I throw out questions and I can tell that Sam is having difficulties keeping herself up.

I hand Kate her phone when she gives me the look of “Really you are really answering my phone. For me” which looks kind of endearing on her. Once she has her phone in her hand I take over making breakfast. I try not to eavesdrop but when I hear my name I tune in a little bit more. How could she think that I would be a good choice for whatever the hell she is asking Sam to consider me for? I can not believe that Kate is asking for me to do something. I shake my head untangling the troubling thoughts to the task at hand. I dish out the food and bring the plates over to where Kate is. After Breakfast we watch a movie that I just randomly selected from our suitcases. I barely pay any attention to the movie. Kate is laying down across the couch while I have my feet up on the table. I can’t help but notice she hasn’t touched her coffee in a long time and that she has barely touched it. I absentmindedly start running my fingers through her hair. I smile thinking this is how it should be every night and day.

“What was that call about? Like you said the other night Sam wouldn’t call unless it was important. So what is so important? And don’t lie to me Kate I know something is bothering you since you have barely touched your coffee.” I say ruining the moment and kicking myself for it. Kate gets up and heads to the door as she replies. I think for a second that I shouldn’t follow her but soon as the door slams shut I kick myself mentally one more time before I follow her grabbing my coat and hers on the way out.

I catch up almost immediately although I have to take longer strides than normal because Kate is moving super fast. We walk around for a long time in the cold air. I can barely keep pace with her. When I catch up to I grab her arm and pull her towards me. Kate fights me for a little bit then just gives up and lets me hold on to her real tight; as if she might leave me and never comeback. I know that no matter what we will always find each other again if we drift away from each other.

"Please just talk to me. What is it about the topic of why Sam's call bothered you so much? If you can't tell me all of it... just please tell me what little you can." I whisper softly into her ear as I pick her up and carry her back to the hotel which is only a little ways away.

Not sure when we will be updating the story again with finals and Goldenheart getting a job. We promise to update when we can.
