Winthrope Abbey

Chapter 10

Emma lied on her back on the top bunk replaying the day’s events in her head. So far she had avoided the annoyances of the boys at her school, unlike her four other roommates. She had made it almost to the end of the first week without any incidences. No she was without: taunting nicknames from Niall, or unwanted sarcastic attention from Harry. She hadn’t caused Liam to fall into the pond as Audrey had; or learned that the cute boy in the art studio on their first day here had lied about him being Zayn, the artist, and making Charlotte look like a fool. But Louis Tomlinson changed all that this afternoon. He had made her somewhat easy existence at Winthrope harder.

Just thinking about him now made her blood boil. See Louis is Emma’s new editor-in-chief for the school’s newspaper, Winthrope Star. So in a way he is kind of her boss. Her entitled, pompous, prick of a boss. Who she could have gotten along with if well he didn’t play the sexist role that every other boy has at this school, and if Evelyn wasn’t already sucking up to him. Because that’s what this newspaper needs the girl whose family lives off of making up lies, Emma thought.

“What are thinking about?” Audrey asked, startling Emma.

“Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.”

“Its fine I just didn’t hear you two come in.” Emma stated.

“So like Audrey said, what were you thinking about?” Charlotte questioned.

“Nothing.” She said. Charlotte and Audrey just stared at her because they knew she was lying.

“Fine. My editor-in-chief for the newspaper is causing some issues.” Emma admitted.

“But I thought all of us were just over reacting to the boys here?” Said Audrey sarcastically

“I was wrong.”

“I’m sorry what was that?” Charlotte teased.

“I said I was wrong!” Emma yelled. “I just hadn’t met Louis Tomlinson yet. He just thinks he knows everything and Evelyn is practically up his ass every time I turn around. I’m just so annoyed by the both of them and it is only the first day at the paper.”

“It’s kind of funny, isn’t it?” Charlotte said.

“What is?” Emma asked while climbing down off the top bunk.

“That we would each find one particular boy to ruin our time here. You with Louis, Audrey with Liam, Juliet with Niall, Sophia with Harry, and me with Zayn. How funny, right?”

“Funny? More like how much worse could this school get.” Said Audrey. “Isn’t it bad enough they live with us, let alone bother us in every other aspect here? I mean couldn’t the extra circular be our escape, not added torture.”

“What’s added torture?” Asked Juliet as she walked in with Sophia.

“These boys.” Stated Emma.

“Wait. Emma are you bothered by these boys. I thought you were above all of us.” Sophia said. “That we are all over reacting to them.”

“I apologize, Sophia. I hadn’t met Louis yet. But I assure you I now have sympathy for you guys this past week.”

“Well you can sympathize with me more. Things just got worse with Harry.” Sophia said flopping down on her bed.

Juliet laughed, “I suppose it would after you told him you were going to kiss him.”

“What?!” The other three girls said in unison.

“I didn’t say that!” Sophia protested.

“By the way you told the story and how Harry told it later. You most certainly did.” Said Juliet.

“You know you can’t trust Harry’s side of the story. What really happened is we were talking about how it use to be for Drama before the school became co-ed.”

“How did it use to be?” Emma asked.

Sophia hesitated before glancing over at Juliet.

“What?” Juliet asked.
“Nothing. It just use to be different.” Sophia stated quickly not to give away the fact that she was thinking about her and Harry’s earlier decision of Juliet’s father.

“What play is it?” Asked Audrey.

“Romeo and Juliet.”

“So are you Juliet and Harry is Romeo, or something?” Questioned Charlotte.

“No. The parts haven’t been decided yet. But auditions are on Monday and everyone has to participate.” Said Sophia.

“Which means more than likely you’ll get the part.” Said Juliet.

“No because Cora is in the class too. So she could get the part.”

“But she probably won’t.” Commented Audrey.

“Will everyone stop saying that!”

“Sorry, it’s just Cora isn’t a very bright person and memorizing lines for her would be nearly impossible.” Said Audrey making the girls all laugh.

“Yeah it’s like having to watch Penelope participate in Debate Club.” Said Juliet.

“Or Ivy thinking paint-by-numbers is the only form of Art.” Added Charlotte.

“I’m just really hoping either Cora is secretly an amazing actress or Harry bombs his audition on Monday.” Sophia said with concern.

“Knowing Harry, he’ll do everything in his power to be Romeo just to antagonize you; so you might want to stick with Cora getting the part.” Said Emma.

“Ugh! I could literally pull my hair out over all the time I have to spend with Harry.” Sophia got up and grabbed the monologue out of her bag.”Guess I’ll need to go read this over a few times before Monday.” She said before heading out the door to go find somewhere to be alone.

Notes

Sorry this is more or less a filler chapter. I'll probably update again soon since I haven't done it in a week.

@ericajaine

This might be one of my favorite chapter's that I've posted so far. Oh and Evelyn is worse next chapter because the next chapter is the article she wrote about the play. She's less than nice in that.

Sorry I miss spoke it's the chapter after this one.

LOVE annoyed Harry ;)
