There's Someone Always Watching

Niall's POV

I walked Barbara to the gates of the Castle, watching as she climbed into her car. She sped off back to wherever she came from.

I walked through the gardens, past the place where Tessa and I had once sat a long time ago. That day I showed her the Moon Flower. I cringed.

I opened the palace doors and walked into the lobby. Something caught my eye, and I snapped my head in the direction of the thing.

It was the book Tessa had been holding when me and Barbara came back.

I walked over to the old thing, seeing it was still open and on a page close to the ending.

"Love cannot be avoided," Grace said, "or simply Replaced." Jason looked back from Grace, the true love of his life, back to Annie, the replacement.

"Well, Jason?" Annie looked at him expectantly. "Who is it that you love?"

I looked up from the book.

"Good question, Annie," I whispered. "Good question."

TESSA'S POV

The tears had stopped flowing by now. My mother once said, back when I had my first boyfriend, not to cry over boys. Boys were stupid, idiotic Neanderthals.

And yet we couldn't live without them.

I lied on my bed, just waiting. Waiting for something I didn't know of to happen. nothing happened, so I just kept watching my color-changing wall.

It seemed that it depends on my mood. The colors were all dark and gloomy.

Black, midnight blue, navy, and blood red were the colors that kept springing up.

I guess I just felt...dark, seeing Niall with someone else.

For one thing, she was pretty. Beautiful, even.

She was probably his age.

The list probably went on forever if I had the will to write it. But I just kept sitting there, watching the wall.
