Just Another Fairy Tale

*Niall's POV*



I shove my phone in my pocket and run out of Amanda's dorm, slamming it behind me. I rush down the hallway and I hear a door open.

"Niall?" Eleanor calls out. I turn around.

"Where are you going?" She asks me.

"Amanda is in labor." I quickly say and rush down the hallway. I push the door to the stairwell open. As I do, I hear Eleanor gasp.

"WHAT!?" Then she calls Louis and tells him to get his fat ass up. I run out of campus. The sun is down. Urg it's rush hour. I run to my car which was parked in the school's parking lot. I get inside and I buckle up. I mean safety first. I start the car and slowly pull out, looking to make sure I won't hit anything. I mean, I think the babe would enjoy a father who's alive.

I get off school property and I drive down the dark narrow road. Soon, pulling into traffic. I honk my horn. GOD DAMN IT PEOPLE MY GIRLFRIEND IS IN LABOR! I try to pull to an empty lane but a car quickly passes my blind spot and I pull back into my current lane. Come on let me through! I then decide to wait. I know Amanda would want me there and I wanna be there to. I'm coming.

I then get a call. I pull my phone out from my pocket and check the caller ID. Perrie.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Niall? I'm so sorry." Perrie replies hesitantly.

"Why? What for?" I ask.

"We can't find A-Amanda." Perrie huffs as if she was waiting forever to get it off her chest. I breathe in and I think she heard me.

"Don't yell at me, please." She begs.

"I'm not. Amanda can't be found around the area. She's in the hospital." I reply.

"Is it Megan?" Perrie asks.

"No god damn it. What's growing in her stomach?" I ask.

"Oh god Amanda's in labor!?" Perrie gasps. I hear Zayn laugh in the background.

"I bet Liam that it would happen this week." Zayn yells and Perrie's phone picks it up.

"Are you in the hospital?" Perrie asks.

"No. I'm stuck in traffic." I say.

"Oh same. Where are you?" She asks.

"Um. Intersection of Northway Park and Chapel Road." I say, reading the signs above. (made up street names btw)

"Oh same! Um-" Perrie starts but Zayn cuts him off.

"I see him! He's the 3rd car in front of us!" Zayn says. I imagine him pointing 3 cars ahead of him.

"Ohh we see you!" Perrie giggles. I think get another call.

"I gotta go, looks like Liam is calling." I say.

"Alright. We'll follow you to the hospital." She says.

"Alright. Bye." And she hangs up. I answer Liam's call.

"Hey Liam." I say.

"Lad, Eleanor, Louis, Josh and I are in the car now. We're on our way to the hospital. Are you there? " He asks.

"Not yet. In traffic and wow, haven't heard about Josh in a while." I laugh.

"Yeah. He's always with his girlfriend who's in high school right now. Anyway, we'll be in the hospital soon. Is there another way there to avoid traffic?" He asks.

"I think so but don't. I have to be at the hospital first." I say.

"Right." Liam says.

"Alright lad. See you soon." Liam says.

"Bye." and I hang up. I drive slowly. Urg. Lord please let me get there in time. I just want to be there for the delivery. Amanda can't be doing this without me. Delivering without me? I need to hold her hand. Encourage her. She can't be there alone with just the nurse and doctor. I see an open lane and I quickly take it, followed by the sound of a horn honking. I honk my horn too. Bitch please, is your girlfriend in labor? I think fucking not. I try and speed up. I need to be there in time.

*10 minutes later*

20 minutes since I've been called by the hospital. The baby is probably here by now. At least traffic is gone now. I drive as quick as possible without being caught by the police. I'm eager to reach the hospital. I turn right and the hospital is right in front of me. I quickly pull into the parking lot and find a parking space. I'm so eager. I pull the gear to park and I unbuckle my seat belt, hopping out of the car. I click the car and run into the hospital.

I rush to the front desk and see the woman sitting there is free. So I take my chance and walk up to her. My palms are sweaty, knee's weak and arms are heavy. Why am I so nervous? I take deep breaths.

"Excuse me?" I say hesitantly. The lady looks up at me with a kind smile plastered on her lips. Her blue eyes sparkle and dimples deep.

"Yes dear, how may I help you?" She asks.

"M-My girlfriend is in labor." I say.

"Oh? And where is she?" The woman asks, looking around for a pregnant woman about to have a baby.

"No, no. She's already in the hospital. I was giving a call around 20 minutes ago and I was told my girlfriend is in labor." I say.

"What's her name?"

"Amanda Jade Cole." The lady types some things down on her keyboard, soon being followed by an 'Aha'

"Yes. Ms. Cole. Do you wish to see her?" The woman asks.

"Um, yeah." I say. I then clear my throat because I realize I sounded rude.

"I mean, yes please." I restate.

"How are you related?" She asks.

"I am the father of this baby." I say, my voice now angry though I'm not. The woman nods.

"She is in the emergency room, second floor." She says, looking at me with fear. My tone was intimidating. I nod and rush down the hallway and up the stairs. I run up the stairs and into the second floor. I look left, then right and I see the sign "emergency". I run down and swing the door open. I see Amanda laying there with her eyes closed. She was alone in the room. I close the door and walk over to her. Then she opens her eyes.

"Hey, baby." She says tiredly.

"I - I did it." She breathes slowly. I take her hand and hold it tight.

"I'm so sorry I'm late. There was traffic." I say softly. The door soon opens and a doctor comes in with a baby. My eyes grow wide. He's there. The baby was wrapped in a blue blanket. His small hands covered with the same coloured gloves and cap. The doctors hands him over to Amanda.

"Are you the father?" He asks me. I nod.

"Congratulations." He smiles.

"Thank you." I smile back.

"What do you plan on naming him?" He asks, looking back and forth between Amanda and I. I look at her. We talked about names we planned on for the children we'd keep. Not the ones we'd give away.

"I was thinking of naming him Nash." Amanda says quietly. Nash... Hm, I like that name. The doctor then looks at me.

"That's a nice name." He compliments. I nod.

"Alright, I'll be out now." He sucks in a breath.

"Stay here overnight if you wish." He kindly smiles then leaves the room. I turn to Amanda and immediately press my lips against hers.

"I'm so proud of you, for putting up with this without me here. I'm so sorry." I say against her lips. She kisses back, then pulls away.

"Wanna hold our baby?" She asks, while holding him close. I nod and reach in. I scoop him up into my arms. His eyes open. They're huge, but adorable. His cheeks are chubby and so it he. He's so cute! His eyes are a beautiful mixture of blue, hazel and grey. It's perfect. Amanda's perfect. Our baby is perfect.
