Louis POV

Now that Harry’s dead, my work in London is done. So now I breathe in the warm California air surrounding me.

The next thing I must do is to watch over Heidi and gain her trust. I have found out she now has a boyfriend but I doubt she loves him and is only using him as a rebound after Harry so he is of no concern to me.

I walk towards the small but cheap hotel in front of me. This hotel is only a few minutes walk from where Heidi lives which makes my life easier.

As soon as I have dropped off my luggage, I’m going straight there to see what she is doing. I walk over to the receptionist and ask for my room key before making my way up to my given room.

I climb up the narrow staircase and look around to find my room number. As soon as I find my room, I lazily shove the key in and enter the rather small room. Ah well, it has a bed so it works for me.

I chuck my stuff onto the bed and glance around the room one last time before walking back out. I need to find her and see her beautiful face again.

I stroll back out into the warm air and make my way down the street towards her house. As I walk, I familiarise myself with everything around the area out of habit. It doesn’t look like a particularly rough area so I doubt there are any gangs here. Wise choice Heidi.

I notice various shops and cafes and a small petrol station. There are people scattered all over the pathways rushing to get their daily chores done. It’s so different to back at home where there are gangs and punks everywhere.

I turn the corner to where her house is supposedly situated but I freeze. She’s outside and is talking to a familiar blonde haired guy.

I frantically look around for somewhere to hide and I settle with a nearby bush so I can hear everything that is said without getting caught.

“Niall?” I hear her smooth British voice whisper. Wait what? That’s Niall? I couldn’t tell before because he has his back to me… I thought he looked familiar! Well shit.

It looks like they got here before I did. I’m going to have to work twice as hard now to keep her safe and away from all of them. I cannot let them hurt Heidi. Scratch that, I WILL not let them hurt Heidi.

“It’s me.” He replies and I can practically feel him smirking at her. What a dick trying to hurt her! She looks beyond speechless.

“How did you find me…? What do you want…?” she asks fearfully. Poor baby girl.

“Hey relax. I come in peace.” He says soothingly. I smirk at his choice of words. Those are the same words I said to Harry, ya know before I killed him. She visibly tenses up as he takes a step closer.

“What do you want?” she asks with gritted teeth. I can’t tell if she’s angry, scared or both.

“I didn’t come all this way to hurt you. You’ve done nothing wrong to me.” He says almost sadly. Like hell he didn’t! So he’s using that approach. I shake my head at him. Poor Nialler. That approach never works. She’s a smart girl. She will eventually figure it all out.

“Then what do you want?!” she snaps at him angrily. Yep she’s definitely pissed now. I hear him mummer something but I cannot quite hear what he says. Her eyes widen as soon as the words leave his mouth. Goddamnit! What is he playing at?! I need to get over there and find out what the hell is going on!

Something seems off with Niall and I need to find out what.


Heidi POV

“I want to help you.” He mummers at me. Excuse me? Woah hold up! He couldn’t be could he?!

Just as I was about to reply to him, I see a dark figure standing behind him. My eyes snap to him and I swear I almost pass out. No no no! This cannot be happening! So much for a calm walk on the beach!

I look into his sea green eyes with pure fear and rage in my eyes before turning back to Niall’s cool blue gaze. My mouth turns into a grim line as I assess whether he is telling the truth. Ah well! I need answers!

“Come on in.” I quickly turn round and unlock the door in one swift movement. Niall instantly sees my urgency and runs inside and I follow behind him completely ignoring Louis’ calls. I slam the door in his face before he is able to get inside. I turn around and lean against the door for support. Niall shoots me a small smile.

“So….You want to help me huh?” I ask not even bothering to hide my sarcasm. He looks wounded for a moment but shakes this off.

“Yes.” He replies quietly. I raise my eyebrows at him and cross my arms over my chest. I find myself looking at him in amusement. I’m not buying any of his shit.

“You don’t believe me.” He states…sadly? I’m confused. He should hate me after everything I did to his friends. Or he’s just I really good actor….

“Well can you blame me?!” I hiss at him but instantly regret it as I look into his sky blue eyes. He’s just so adorable when he wants to be!

“I guess I see your point.” He sighs. “It looks like I’m going to have to earn your trust.” Damn right you are.

Just then the doorbell rings. Are you seriously fucking kidding me! Niall looks at me knowingly but I shake my head.

“Leave it. It’s probably Louis.” I say his name with disgust.

“Baby? You in there?” Jules? What awful timing! I find myself breathing out a sigh of relief as I go and open the door to be met by his gorgeous eyes. He smiles as soon as he sees me but instantly frowns in concern as soon as he registers my expression.

“What’s wrong?” he asks worriedly. Oh I wish I could tell you everything Jules but you don’t deserve to be mixed up in all of this. You deserve better than this.

You deserve better than me.

“Nothing baby.” I say faking a smile before reaching up and pecking his lips. He smiles cautiously down at me but says nothing. He suddenly snaps his gaze behind me. Oh my god! Niall!

I turn around and find Niall staring at Jules almost in……recognition? Appreciation. Whut?

Am I missing something? Some kind of unspoken conversation flows between the two as I awkwardly stand in the middle watching all of this in confusion.

Jules suddenly turns to look down at me.

“You ready to go to the beach?” he asks casually as if nothing out of the ordinary happened just then. I look at him bemused.

“But…..Niall.” I say wavering my hand towards the blonde in front of me.

“It’s ok. I was just leaving anyway.” Niall says quietly. “We’ll talk later.” He adds in before pushing passed Jules and exiting the house.

“See? Ready to go now?” Jules asks. I really want to question him about what happened but I’ll ask him later. I give him a fake smile before clasping my hand in his large one and dragging him out of the door.

Something is not right…..

Jamie POV

“You know, Harry’s gonna go apeshit if he finds out about this. I mean, he denies it but we all know he still likes her.” I say thoughtfully to Liam as we board the plane. Liam looks distracted. He’s probably coming up with some sort of a plan as soon as we arrive in Cali.

“So we won’t let him find out then.” He replies as if I’m stupid. I scowl at him.

“It’s not that simple you know. He’s not stupid!” I snap at him. He huffs at me.

“Look Jamie. We have bigger problems to deal with than Harry’s mean left hook!” he hisses at me.

“Isn’t it all a part of the plan that Harry doesn’t find out?!” I ask him incredulously. Liam glares down at me before rubbing his temples.

“Just shut up and get on the damn plane! We’ll figure it all out as soon as we get to Cali.” He says trying to calm himself. Geez! Calm down!

This is going to be one hell of a trip!
