I Promised
I love you. I don't know if it was the way he said it, the fact that I was vulnerable, or just because I felt like it but I leaned in and placed my lips on his. He was shocked at first, but he started to kiss me back. Niall cupped his hand around the back of my head, pulling me closer to him and sending shivers down my spine. He started to deepen the kiss when we heard the door to our connecting rooms pop open.
I quickly pulled away from him, running my hand through my hair. What just happened? Did I just kiss my best friend? What is wrong with me?
Liam stepped into the room. “Yo, Nialler! We're gonna go get food!”
“Yeah, alright Liam. Be right there.” Niall stuttered a bit standing up from the bed, but never taking his eyes off of me. He was making me nervous.
“Is Teagan coming?” Liam asked.
“She fucking better be!” I heard Alis yell and laughed to myself.
Niall gave me a questioning look and I nodded. “Yeah. We'll be there in a sec.”
I stood up from the bed and looked down at my pajama bottoms and long sleeve shirt. I changed into a pair of jeans and pulled my semi-dry hair up into a messy bun. The bruise around my eye had started to fade, and the cut on my cheek was healed a bit better so I didn't think about putting make up on. Honestly, I didn't really have the energy to.
I was quiet, looking out of the window of the restaurant we stopped at. All I could think of was the kiss. What did it mean? Why didn't Niall say anything after? Was I a bad kisser? Because Niall was definitely not a bad kisser. I touched my fingers to my lips as I thought about it.
“So,” Alis scooted her chair closer to me. “So Perrie and I were talking, and we decided that we should have a girls night tonight.”
I shrugged, moving some food around on my plate with my fork. “I'm not really in the mood, Alis.”
“That is exactly why we're having this girls night.” Alis smirked.
I set my fork down and sighed, knowing there was no use in fighting Alis. “Fine, whatever.” I scooted my chair back and got up. “I'm going to go for a walk...I'll meet you guys back at the hotel.”
Niall's POV:
I watched Teagan get up and leave the restaurant, immediately wanting to chase after her. I still couldn't believe she had kissed me earlier, and then Liam had to so rudely interrupt. It was only about an hour ago, but it felt like forever. I would give anything to have her lips on mine again.
“Hello?” Louis waved his hand in front of my face. “Is everything alright, Niall?”
“Oh uh, yeah. Why?” I snapped out of my daze.
“You haven't even touched your food. We all know that's not normal.” Liam frowned.
I shrugged. “Just not hungry, I guess.” I pushed back from the table. “I'm going to go try and find Teagan.”
The boys knew how much I cared about Teagan, I never kept anything from them. Plus I talked about her a lot when she wasn't around. Mostly because I missed her. Her eyes, her smile, mostly I missed her laugh. It's been so long since I've heard her laugh, which pained me. She was hurting, and I still didn't know how to help her. If only there was a way I could show her that everything was going to be alright. That she was so loved, so loved by me.
I rounded the corner and saw her sitting on a bench in the park. I walked over and sat next to her, but I didn't say anything.
I heard her sigh as she looked over at me. “Why can't you just leave me alone for five minutes?” she snapped.
I bit my lip before I spoke. “Because I promised your dad I would take care of you.”
Her eyes grew wide, I could see the tears beginning to swell bringing up her father. I didn't mean to make her upset, I just wanted to know that I wasn't going anywhere. “My..my father?” Her voice cracked.
It was time that I told her about our little chat, and about how even her father knew how much I cared about her. “Before he passed...we talked. You were getting food or something, but he made me promise that I would take care of you. Because he knew that no one other than himself could love you more than I do. I promised him that nothing would happen to his baby girl. That I would protect you, and make sure you were taken care of.”
Tears were streaming down her face. “I promised him that I would never stop loving you the way that I do, and I never will.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but I stopped her with another kiss. Her face was wet from the warm tears rushing down her cheeks, but I didn't care. I kissed her softly before pulling away and speaking lowly. “I want to be with you.”
