Fanfiction 101
Titles
Top 10 "rules" about titles:
1. Don't use a song name as your title if it isn't relevant to any of the story. {Credit: @fascinated}
2. Capitalize your title correctly. Not only does it look more professional, but it makes you look like you aren't 3 anymore.
3. Chapter titles are just as important as your story title. If you aren't going by numbers, capitalize and make sure it's relevant to the content.
4. Sentences are not titles. Titles are supposed to be short - some long titles are exceptional but not all - and sweet.
5. You shouldn't be giving away your story in your title. Ex: We Were Best Friends, Now He's My Boyfriend. Well then… (Don't use that plot line either)
6. Don't use all caps. "BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING AND I HATE WHEN PEOPLE YELL AT ME!"
7. Don't put and exclamation point at the end. Titles don't generally use ending punctuation.
8. Don't put "?!?!" at the end.
9. Don't add "A Harry Styles Fanfiction" because it wasn't obvious that this was that kind of site. (No, I thought it was Barney fan fiction for my favorite purple dinosaur -.-)
10. Don't have a title that is irrelevant to your story. Ex: your story is called "The Boat Trip" (random name at the top of my head) but your story doesn't have anything to do with boat. They don't even live near a large mass of water…
