Friendship Never Ends

Chapter 35

Harry’s P.O.V.
That night was amazing. Once we got back to the hotel, things started heating up. We couldn’t contain our feelings for each other and we reached a point we didn’t think we were gonna hit quite yet. She was changing out of her dress and needed help with the zipper, and before we could stop it, it slid all the way to the floor, leaving her in her undergarments. My heart began racing as I couldn’t stop staring at her flawless body, and soon, it became something more. She was so beautiful and perfect and it made the night worth it.
The next morning, I woke up to the feeling of her skin brushing up against mine and a smile stretched across my face. I looked over at the light being casted through the blinds of the hotel window and then at the clock, taking a deep breath and slowly getting out of bed. Without waking Stephanie, I managed to get in the shower and get ready. All 7 of us were planning a picnic in one of London’s beautiful gardens and the sun showed how wonderful of a day it was going to be. I hoped it was going to stay like this.
After my shower, Stephanie was still sleeping, so I decided to wake her up, since now the bathroom was free for her to use. I kneeled by the edge of the bed and kissed her sweet lips, wishing that would arouse her. Guess what? I was right.
“Morning,” I whispered when her eyes fluttered open. Her smile greeted me back and I continued, “We’ve got a big day today.”
“Do I have to get up?” she groaned, looking at me with those puppy dog blue eyes.
“Do you want to see London?” I asked.
“Fine, you win,” she spoke, propping herself up on her elbow. “It’s too warm in this bed, though.”
“That’s because you’re still in it,” I remarked, standing up.
“Good one,” Steph said sarcastically. She sat up, covered herself in the blanket, and grabbed what she needed for her shower, entering the bathroom and leaving the blanket outside of the door. I chuckled at her ways and snatched the blanket as I heard the water turn on, walking back and remaking the bed. Relaxing on the newly covered bed, I turned on the TV and waited.
.
Half an hour later, Steph emerged from the bathroom, steam floating out around her. As she neared her suitcase, she unraveled the towel that was wrapped around her head and began brushing out the snarls, and to be honest, it sounded painful. How can girls do that?
“What time are we meeting everybody?” she questioned.
“Anytime. Most of them are already at the park,” I answered. “They were getting the food so they left early.”
“Ah, ok,” she replied.
“Are you almost ready?” I asked.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, calm down,” Stephanie responded, rolling her eyes. I watched as she took out her bag and started packing her usual things she takes with her every day and I must say, I was mesmerized by her. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her graceful movements and natural concentration and although the TV continued to play, Stephanie was my entertainment.
“Why do you keep staring at me?” she questioned, not even glancing up from her bag.
“I’m not staring at you,” I replied.
“You’re looking at me,” she repeated.
“Yes I am,” I confirmed, smiling.
“Really, Harry?” she asked, giving me a look.
“Yes, really,” I teased back. “Now hurry up, I’m starving.”
“Calm down, I’m almost done,” she replied, gathering a few more things. “Are you ready?”
“I wouldn’t be lying here if I wasn’t,” I answered, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed and turning off the TV. Grabbing my phone and wallet off the table, I stuffed them in my pockets and waited for Steph at the door. Not long after, we were on our way out of the hotel.
“So where is the park?” Steph asked the second we stepped out of the door.
“It’s about a 10 minute walk down this street,” I revealed, taking her hand and leading her in the right direction.
The sun was in our favor as it wasn’t so hot that it was unbearable, but it was just enough to make it a gorgeous warm day for us. Thank you, Mother Nature.
“I wanna live here,” Stephanie blurted out. I glanced over at her and her eyes were up on every tall building in sight, dancing along with the many bustling people moving around us.
“You wanna live here?” I repeated.
“Yeah, it’s so pretty and exciting,” she explained. “Can we? Please?” She leaned her body into mine and almost pushed me off of the sidewalk, causing me to laugh.
“We?” I asked, my eyebrows raised. Her smile wiped off as she realized what she was requesting.
“Well…I…” she stuttered.
“It’s okay,” I assured her, chuckling.
So she wants to spend her life with me. She already knows what she wants for her future and it involves me. I hadn’t quite figured everything out but I knew she was going to be a part of my life and stay in my life somehow. But we’re still young and we have so much ahead of us. Don’t rush anything, Harry. “By the way, the answer to that is maybe,” I added.
“Really?” she exclaimed, her face lighting up. I squeezed her hand in response and continued walking, smiling at the thought of our futures together.
Soon enough, we reached the open grassy park where all the other lads were waiting for us, a giant blanket spreading across the lawn and an equally sized picnic basket full of good food. Everybody was already settled on the blanket as we approached and they all cheered when we finally made it.
“What took you guys so long?” Rachel declared.
Someone didn’t want to get out of bed,” I hinted, sitting down on the blanket.
“Hey! Don’t blame this all on me,” Steph defended, squatting and relaxing next to me. I rolled my eyes at her.
“So, what did you all get?” I asked.
“Niall bought the entire bakery,” Rachel said sarcastically, causing everyone to laugh.
“What? I did not,” Niall started, gaping at her.
“I’m surprised they didn’t sell out,” Rachel commented. Niall playfully hit her arm but then it turned into a small cuddle as they laughed.
Louis grabbed the basket and began unloading it, spreading the numerous amounts of baked goods in front of us. There were many croissants, muffins, and bagels, some pretzel bread, and other bread rolls, including some cheeses and fruits to decorate them with. Once Louis finished dispersing the food, all of our hands reached in the middle for the certain baked good we desired. I guess Steph and I had the same idea for both of our hands went for the same croissant, resulting in us laughing about our similar minds. I let her have that one and seized a different roll, also taking a slice of cheese to put on it.
As we were eating, we watched a few little kids run around on the playground beside us. They seemed like they were having so much fun and I miss those days when Steph and I used to play on those contraptions without a care in the world, without knowing we’d be apart for so long, without knowing our lives were going to change forever. It felt weird at the time to be thinking about that because I was starting my career and beginning to live my dream, something that wouldn’t have happened if all the events didn’t occur as they did. I wouldn’t take any of it back, though, but those were the days, man.
“So,” Louis spoke, breaking through my thoughts, “you two only have a few weeks left.” He stretched out his arm and pointed at Steph and Rachel.
“It seems like just yesterday we got here,” Rachel expressed.
“Time really does fly by fast when you’re having fun,” Steph added, looking at me.
“Exactly what I was thinking,” I continued. And yes, I was thinking about how I yearn for those days when we were young.
“Do we really have to leave?” Stephanie whined.
“You don’t have to, but you’ve made up your mind for what you want to do,” I intervened. Scooting closer to her, I whispered in her ear, “You’ll be back soon, though, won’t you?” She turned her head and smiled at me, sealing her deal with one of her sweet kisses.
“Eww!” Louis and Zayn declared, making faces at us. Liam, Rachel, and Niall laughed at them and caused Steph and me to laugh, too.
“It won’t be long until you two have girlfriends,” Steph stated.
“Yeah, but it’ll be cute when we kiss,” Louis remarked, high fiving Zayn.
“Wow, I wonder how long it took you to come up with that,” Steph challenged. “Next time, try something that’s not so overused.”
“Oh, burn!” I shouted. Louis and Zayn’s faces were wiped clean of their smiles and a shocked expression took its place. But Steph couldn’t contain her straight face and bursted out laughing, all of us following her lead including Zayn and Louis.
After we calmed down, we continued talking about irrelevant topics, learning more about each other that we didn’t know even though we’ve been living together for the past 2 months. That is, until the weather changed on us.
“Where did those clouds come from?” Rachel asked as darkness rolled in from the south, covering up the sun and shading the city. The wind began picking up and it flipped the corner of the blanket over, motivating us to pack everything up.
“It’s London; one second it’s beautiful and the next it’s ugly,” Liam explained.
“Are we going to make it back in time?” Steph questioned.
“Oh yeah, we’ve got at least 30 minutes until the storm will actually hit,” I informed, looking over at the clouds and noticing they were still creeping on the horizon yet. Once they cover half of the sky is the point when you need to hurry up and reach shelter fast.
After the uneaten food was bundled back up in the basket and the blanket was folded, we made our way back to the hotel, reaching it in plenty of time. It was about another 5 minutes before the sky was completely grey and the rain poured out, also bringing bright flashes of light and the low hum of thunder. Good thing we left when we did.
“What should we all do now?” Rachel imposed as we walked through the hallway on our floor.
“Um, well, there’s a pool here,” Liam suggested, passing by a sign that said Pool with an arrow pointing in the opposite direction.
“Who’s up for a swim?” I offered.
“Why not?” Steph answered and everyone else agreed.
We reached our rooms and before we entered them, Louis said, “Alright, let’s meet out here in 10 minutes, okay?” We all nodded and disappeared into the desired room.

Stephanie’s P.O.V.
Looking through my suitcase, I couldn’t find my bathing suit and then it dawned on me: I never packed it. Of all the things I brought with me, I forgot my bathing suit.
“Harry?” I asked.
“Hmm?” he replied from the bathroom.
“I forgot my swim suit,” I responded. He opened the door and walked out in just his trunks, and I had to hold back the urge not to stare.
“How did you forget that?” Harry questioned, throwing his other clothes back in his luggage.
“I don’t know, I guess I just didn’t think that we’d be swimming while we were here,” I shrugged.
Harry sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, thinking of what we could do. I didn’t pack enough extra clothes that I could use just for swimming, although I could go in what I was wearing and let them dry out later. But my thoughts were interrupted as Harry threw me a pair of his clean boxers and his shirt he was wearing earlier.
“Use those,” he said. “I always pack a few extra boxers in case something happens, like this.”
“Are you sure?” I asked. I was actually a bit nervous to put those on and swim in them in front of everybody, but I didn’t want to miss out on all the fun.
“I wouldn’t have given them to you if I wasn’t so sure. Now hurry and change, they’re probably waiting for us again,” Harry urged.
“Okay, okay,” I replied, heading into the bathroom. Closing the door, I quickly got undressed and slipped on Harry’s clothes, loving the fact that his scent was still on it. Then again, he had just worn the shirt, so it obviously smelled like him, but stronger. It was heaven.
Opening the door, I peered around the corner to see Harry turn his head towards me and I stepped out, letting him take a look at me.
“Woah,” he whispered, not taking his eyes off of me.
“Does it look okay for swimming?” I asked. He nodded, biting his lip. I couldn’t help but smile when I glanced at his action, knowing he’s slightly hypnotized.
A knock at our door took us both out of our thoughts and Harry answered it as I chucked my clothes in my suitcase.
“Are you guys almost ready? We’ve been waiting out here for a while,” I heard Niall’s voice say.
“Oh, yeah, sorry,” Harry apologized. “Come on, Steph.”
“I need to grab towels!” I yelled, hurrying into the bathroom.
“They have some in the pool area,” Harry said.
“Oh, alright,” I replied, flicking the light off in the bathroom and exiting our room. As soon as I stepped out into the hallway, all eyes were on me and I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
“I, uh, forgot my swimsuit,” I explained, tugging at Harry’s shirt. Everyone looked away and we advanced down the hallway, but there were smirks and a few head shakes.
“I’m not sure that’s the only reason,” Rachel whispered to me.
“Shut up,” I commented, gazing at the floor.
A few minutes later, we reached the pool and lucky for us, no one was actually there. Surprising, but the hotel wasn’t even that big and neither was the pool. It was still large enough for all 7 of us though, so we still had fun.
“Who’s going in first?” Liam asked, setting his stuff on a table.
“Watch out!” Louis screamed, running right into the deep end and dragging Zayn down with him. They created a splash that rippled out onto the concrete floor by the tables and chairs.
“Thanks for the warning!” I yelled when they resurfaced.
“No problem!” Louis replied, floating on his back.
“You ready?” Harry questioned, standing next to me by the edge of the pool.
“Been ready for ages,” I answered, winking. He took my hand and the next thing I knew, I was underwater, the sounds of Louis’ shouts muffled and the sight of the pool blurry. I hit the floor and pushed off, breaking the surface just in time to catch some air.
“You alright?” Harry asked, swimming around me.
“Never better,” I responded, smiling and treading the water.
“We should play a game!” Rachel suggested.
“How about Marco Polo?” I offered.
“Nah, that’s too boring,” Louis said.
“Volleyball?” Liam recommended. “I brought a ball and I know we don’t have a net, but…”
“That sounds great,” Niall agreed, and we all settled on volleyball.
We divided into teams and it was a little uneven as there were 7 of us, but we were okay with one team having 4 players and the other with 3. I was with Harry, Louis, and Liam on the team of 4, the other team consisting of Rachel, Niall, and Zayn. Since they had the disadvantage, they served first, and the game begun.
The game was intense; I was surprised at how competitive everyone was. Water was flying everywhere as no one cared if we got splashed. Although, halfway through the game, the volleyball hit Harry right by his chin, smacking his face and causing a splash, too. We took a time out as he climbed out of the water and wiped his face with a towel, lucky that there was no blood. As he was doing so, I guess his phone rang for he picked it up and answered someone who was calling. He motioned for me that he would be a minute and walked into the corner of the pool area. I stayed in the pool and I would have swam over to Rachel and the other boys, but his facial expressions told me to keep an eye on him. I couldn’t hear his conversation, but I could tell he was annoyed with whoever was calling. I figured it might have been Anne just checking in on us and he was a little irritated at her interrupting, but something told me it wasn’t that. He was getting pissed and knowing his relationship with his mum, it couldn’t be her.
Finally, he ended the call and almost stomped back over to the table, slamming his phone on the surface. Thank God there was a towel there or he would have broken his phone for good. Worried, I swam to the edge of the pool and called for him to turn around.
“Who was that?” I asked.
“Nobody,” he answered, sighing and putting on a fake smile for me.
“Harry,” I warned.
“Steph, trust me. Just some business I had to take care of,” he brushed off, sitting down at the edge and letting his feet dangle in the water. I gave him another look.
“I’m here to have to fun and I don’t want that ruining it,” he continued.
“Okay,” I exhaled, letting it go. He slid into the water and ducked, coming back up and letting the water run down his face.
“Race you to the other side,” Harry teased, ready to push off from the wall.
“You’re on,” I smiled, perching myself on the edge.
“3…2…1…GO!” he yelled. Letting go of the wall, we both launched ourselves into the water and swam as fast as we could until we hit the the other side. I opened my eyes just in time to see Harry touch the wall, but I was faster than him.
“I win!” I announced.
“No, you didn’t, I beat you!” Harry complained.
“Nuh uh,” I said.
“Uh huh,” Harry chanted.
“Are we 5 again?” I asked.
“If we were 5, would I have done this?” he questioned, taking me underwater again. Everything was so fast that my brain couldn’t process what was going on and I didn’t even think about opening my eyes. All of a sudden, I felt soft lips press against mine and that was the only thing I didn’t need my mind for. Harry wrapped himself around me and he gave so much force into the kiss, more than he usually does. Did something happen? Was it the call? Or was it because he was in the moment?
A few seconds later, I needed air and I couldn’t continue, so I broke away from him and swam up to the surface, breathing in gulps. He resurfaced not long after I did with a heartbroken expression, and me not being able to see him like this, hugged him close.
“Sorry, I just really needed a breath. I didn’t know what was happening when you ducked me so I didn’t get a chance to take a good breath,” I explained.
“Oh, sorry,” he apologized, smiling and biting his lip.
“Stop doing that!” I said, grinning.
“Doing what?” he teased.
“You know what,” I replied, giving him a look. He gave me another look back and pushed himself up and out of the water.
“Bathroom break, be right back,” he informed, smiling at me before running off to the restrooms.
He was so cheesy sometimes, but I’ve always wanted to be kissed underwater. It was so passionate, though, more than usual. More than what happened last night, too. What got into him?
Then it hit me. I know you’re never supposed to snoop through someone’s phone, but I was curious and I couldn’t help it. Climbing out of the pool, I walked around and to our table, covering myself with a towel. I made sure no one was looking and grabbed his phone, unlocking it. I went through his recent calls and it was from an unknown number. Maybe it was from management or something? Remembering his facial expressions, that seemed like a possibility.
Suddenly, it vibrated with a text from someone and again, it was from an unknown number. The same unknown number who had called him before. Looking up, I figured it was safe and I opened the text.
I shouldn’t have done that. The text wasn’t just a text, but a picture message, and the picture was some girl’s nude with the caption: I’ll be waiting. xxJadexx
