Prologue - Aria's POV
If someone had told me that when I was eighteen, I'd be fighting zombies, tracking down the cause of PAX_12 and falling in love with Niall Horan; I'd call you crazy.
But here we are.
I'm Arianna Cross. I've been on this Earth 18 years of my life. This is my story of a Zombie Apocalypse, how I fell in love with my best friend and shot myself in the foot.

"Daddy?" I whisper. He looks over at me, a weak smile painted his face.
"Yes Princess?"
"What's happening?"
"Me and Mommy need to go to the US to work. You'll be staying with the Horan's. Okay, sweetie?"
"Okay Daddy."
"Nialler!" I scream. Dirt and blood has smudged my face and I can't see anything in this dirt cloud, "Niall!"
I can't breath. I can't see anything. My hand reaches for my Glock and someone grabs my upper-arm I scream and then realize that it's Niall, "Fuck you Niall." I say, "What happened?"
"It's fine Aria. I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"You haven't been bitten or anything?"
"No Aria. Calm down."
"I can't calm down, Ni. My parents are dead because of this and you're just acting like this is no biggie!" I scream. This being PAX_12. AKA a Zombie Apocalypse. They didn't die and then come back from the dead. Illogical. It's a virus. It travels through the Olfactory Nerve to our brain. It's leads to the Ventromedial Hypothalamus, Amygdala and the Frontal Cortex. It's not real Zombies. It's Aggressive Super Hungry, Brain Dead beings that can't recognize people and control their own actions other then to feed. PAX_12 has a Daily Infection of 3 152 567 and a Daily 'Death' of 2 253 436. It travels in three main different forms: Bio-Hazard 2215.5B, Neurax 299 Worm and Necroa Virus 997. Air, Food and Water.
Before my parents died, they where working on a cure. But somehow the Necroa Virus 997 got inside the lab and infected them.
And I lost them. I was ten. That's when I realized that I needed to grow the fuck up. Yeah, I was ten. It's just ... when you lose your parents that young, your brother is the last family that you have alive; you feel the need to grow up.
"Aria." He says softly, "I'm so sorry. I ..."
"It's fine Nialler." He hugs me and I wrap my arms around him, "Promise me that you'll never do that again."
"I promise."

Sorry it's short. :( PAX_12 is a virus that has infected about 78% of the planet. It's not 'activated' in everyone; so even Niall and Aria could have it without themselves knowing.(c) FallingIntoNarnia 2013
