Bad Memories

Acting Like Tourist

Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep.

I furiously search for my phone that was making that god awful beeping sound that it called an alarm. The time read 7:30. I silently cursed myself for never turning off the alarm from when I had to wake up in time for my train yesterday. Well, now I have to find something to do. I can never go back to sleep if I wake up. I numbly searched my bag for my favorite grey sweater and slipped it on as I muffled a yawn in my hand. My khaki jeans wouldnt give without a fight. I successfully pulled them up and buttoned them. I carelessly applied my make up for a natural look and honestly I was to tired to give my full effort. I decided to leave my hair down in its soft ringlet curls. I stuffed some money and my phone into my bag and quickly put on my trusty oxfords. I locked my door on my way out. A lanky girl faced me as I turned.

“Oh it’s just you,” I sighed relieved it was only Lia.“Scared the shit outta me,”

“I can tell. Where you going so early? You can’t already have a life here…I mean as in…Never mind.” She mumbled eyeing me with widened eyes.

“Oh thanks,” I said sarcastically rolling my eyes. “Where are you going so early?” I asked turning the tables.

“Work,” She simply said and started walking.

~~~~~~
I had been casually walking down my street, sipping at the vanilla bean milkshake I bought from Milkshake City. I stopped in front of the antique bookshop, peering through the window. A few kids scattered the tables with their noses in books or their laptops. I pushed open the door and a bell chimed, not one of those kids looked my way. I walked to the front counter to find none other than Lia who was chomping on gum. Beside her was a fragile old lady sitting her in wheelchair. Lia was busy reading a teen magazine with pictures of that boy band that had sweep the UK by storm. They were called One…Way, One something, I couldn't care less. The old lady gave me a sweet smile exposing fleshy gums.
“Hello dear, can I help you with anything?” she asked her face still holding that same smile.
“Uhh…”My eyes search around for an actual reason that I was here. A green and white sign caught my eye. Help Wanted. I need a job, they are hiring. “Are you still hiring?” I said nervously biting my lip.
“Why yes we are. Do you want to apply here?”
“Yes,” I exhaled and gave a hopeful smile.
“You got the job,” She smiled. I furrowed my brow confused at how I got the job just by asking. “We don’t get many people wanting to apply here,” She explained. I nodded getting it. “Be here by 7:35 tomorrow morning and you can call me Matilda,” I nodded and turned on my heel.
"Oh, by the way im Renington," I turned to say. Lia looked up from her magazine upon im guessing hearing my name. She gave a chuckle then went back to her reading. I walked to the door and swung it open. I ventured out farther from my flat. I checked the time on my phone and it read 7:56. I decided to go for a walk and explore the town.
I had walked for 3 hours now, stopping at shops along the way. A very crowded shopping center stood in front of me now. There was no way in hell I was even stepping foot in there, but I was determined to. Curse my undying love for shopping centers. I had come here to shop and dammit I will shop! Teen girls with cameras ready for whomever the hell was in there, overflowed to the sidewalk outside the center. I squeezed my way through the teens to the other side of the group on the side walk, which was equally as crowded. I was in the empty space between two groups of girls sporting One Direction t-shirts and we’re all trying to get through the door at once. I pushed through the second crowd, getting a few angry complaints by fangirls. I walked to the other side to see if there was a chance I could get in through there. It significantly less crowded, the line was only one person out the door. I got behind the last person and waited.
It had been four minutes and I was in, obviously this wasn’t the side they were at. I went the opposite direction all the teen girls ran in. I took my time walking around and window shopping. I had burned a few bucks on some clothes that snuck their way into my heart. I was on a tight budget compared to what i was used to. I had to worry about bills and things for my place now. I threw my empty milkshake cup away as I rounded a corner. I smacked into someone and I fell back on my wrist.
“Mother fuc-“I stopped mid sentence as I found the eyes of hundreds of girls on me. My eyes went wide as I looked to see who bumped into me although it was obviously one of the guys in that band. A blonde boy with a concerned face was kneeling next to me.
“I’m so sorry,” He apologized in the most adorable Irish accent. His ocean blue eyes were wide and his brow was furrowed. “Are you okay?”
“I fell on my wrist,” I mumbled, rubbing where it hurt. I landed on my wrist when i feel to try and break my fall.
“Uh, can we get a...medic or someone?” He asked around him, someone jogged away I’m guessing to attend to the pop stars wish. The four other boys went and distracted the fans by talking to them and taking pictures. The other band boys continued walking. A few girls hesitating to follow staring at blondie who was by my side. They whispered to each other and watched us from a distance. “I’m so sorry,” He reached out to hold my wrist. He took my wrist in his hands and examined it. “Aw shit, its already turning red and swelling.”
“It hurts like a little bitch, too” I complained. A tall man in a sweater vest stumbled over looking .
“Alright,” He said holding out his hand for my wrist. Blondie released his hold and watched as he took my wrist in hand. He analyzed it carefully. “Well, it’s most likely sprained, so I’m going to take you to the booth over there to bandage you up." Blondie went over to my other side and carefully put my arm around his shoulder and helped me up. I followed the man with Blondie still by my side.
“Again I’m so sorry, how can I make it up to you? Do you want tickets to our next concert, backstage passes, anything?” He apologized for the millionth time.
“I don’t want tickets or any of that,” I snapped. He looked taken aback as he licked his lips glancing away from me. Aw, shit he was just being nice. “Sorry,” I whispered swinging my legs off the edge of the booth i was sitting on.
“Alright no tickets, how about…” He sat next to me and thought of ways to make up my sprained wrist to me. The man gently wrapped a bandage around my wrist and to the middle of my forearm . “Where are you going after this?” he asked as if he had a brilliant idea.
“Uh, my flat I guess,” I replied confused at where Blondie was going with this.
“Let me drive you,” he smiled at his plan. I grinned at how happy that simple idea had made him. I couldn't say no to him, which would be like saying no to a kid who was asking you to play. He was adorable with his smile and those eyes.
“Fine,” I sighed and saw his face light up. As he led me to a side exit a husky man followed us. Every pop star needs their own security guard of course. We exit through the side door and filed into the back of a black Range Rover with tinted windows. I told Blondie my address and he told the driver.
“I’m Niall,” He smiled as he stuck out his hand.
“Renington,” I grinned grabbing hold of his hand and shaking it.
“Wow what a name,” He laughed letting go of my hand and facing towards me. I bit my lip and rolled my eyes. "How long have you been in London?" He asked with a grin.
“Just got here yesterday actually,” I sighed and fidgeted with the straps on my bag.
“Really?” He questioned seeming genuinely interested. We passed the restaurant that i saw on the way from the train station that was on my street and his eyes lite up. “You live walking distance from a Georgino's, lucky!” He exclaimed his eyes glued to the tiny place as we passed it.
“Ha, I’ve never been to Georgino's believe it or not.” I said glancing back at the restaurant . He turned to me with a stunned look.
“No I dont believe it. Never been to heaven to taste heaven, shame.” He shook his head and sighed. I giggled and shook my head. “That’s it, I’m taking you tomorrow. Be ready by 3. You're about to lose your Georgino's virginity, and im going to witness it."
