These Chapters of Our Lives ~ COMPLETED

Unknown Meaning

The large doors open up, blinding me momentarily before I step forward. The wedding march starts to play and I look back to my mom who ushers me forward. I instinctly start to toss the red flower pieces left and right as I walk down the aisle. People coo at me and snap pictures that I smile towards.

When I get to the end of the aisle, I see dad waiting off to the side and run to him. He picks me up and smiles, taking me to a pew where Drew is sitting and sits. We’re on the end, right next to the aisle where the bridesmaids and the maid of honor, my mom, begin to walk out with the groomsmen and best man.

I watch, intrigued by the pretty dresses and how everyone just looks so happy, no long faces present. I waved cheerfully as mom passed us by with the best man. Then, everyone stood as the doors opened this time. Dad lifted me to sit on his forearm so I could see better.

In walked the bride, clad in the beautiful white gown that I had seen previously. To the right of the bride was man, definitely older than the bride, but not too old. I was unsure of who he was or what exactly he was doing, but-

SMACK!

I shot up at the sudden fluffy impact made with a pillow. “What the hell?”

“Why are you still in bed? We have an hour until your wedding starts you dope!” Perrie yells at me as she throws the pillow down.

I laugh a cold-hearted chuckle and snuggle the back of my head into my pillow. “One, I’m pretty sure the wedding is tomorrow. Two, why does everyone keep calling me a dope? I’m not stupid…”

Perrie frowned, “Of course you aren’t; I just kind of wish you were so I could see you hustling to get ready.” I shake my head at and laugh at her. “Anyway, the boys already dragged Harry out of the house, so you won’t get to see him until tomorrow. Superstitious stuff, ya know?”

I frown. “I didn’t even get to see him or say goodbye…”

“Har, you sound like you’re never going to see him again. You will see him tomorrow, when you marry him,” Perrie tousles my hair and laughs at my pout. “Now get up because we have plenty to do today for the wedding tomorrow.”

~

I find myself sitting in my dad’s lap, waiting for the bride to come out. Then, everyone stood and the doors opened wide for the woman in the white gown. Beside her is that same man, the man of whom I don’t know.

“Daddy who is that man?” I whisper to him. Dad asks me who. “The one next to the pretty lady walking down the aisle.”

Dad chuckles, “That’s her father of course.”

“Well what is he doing?” I ask.

My father just chuckles at me, “I’ll explain it to you later; I promise.”

“Har!” Eleanor snaps at me.

“Huh?” I shake my head of thoughts and open my eyes. They laugh.

“You fell asleep. We’re back at your place now,” Diane informs me. I just nod and start to collect my things. “Are you sure you don’t want us to stay with you? You’re not going to sneak off to see Harry before tomorrow?”

I shake my head. “I won’t, I promise. I just think I need to be alone until tomorrow. A little extra sleep should do me good.”

“What time should we pick you up tomorrow?”

“I’ll just go over myself. It’s not that big of a deal…” I think over my words for a second. “I mean, it is a big deal. It’s my wedding day after all, and – you know what, I’ll be there at about 10. Good night, girlies. See you tomorrow.”

I wave at them until they are out of sight before entering my place. I half expect Harry to be waiting for me, but I know he’s out with the boys, crashing at Louis’ for the night.

This is all so surreal.

The actuality of me getting married tomorrow suddenly put a whole lot of weight on my shoulders. I don’t think I can even fathom how fast it’s coming. Harry and I are getting married. Tomorrow… I become Mrs. Styles.

I set my keys on the counter and drop my stuff onto a chair. It’s awfully late, and I’m completely exhausted from all of the running around and making sure everything is in place for tomorrow. All that’s left to do is sleep.

Not caring, I slump into my bed with my current clothes and slowly drift off into a careless sleep.

~

My father just chuckles at me, “I’ll explain it to you later; I promise.”

“No, tell me now, Daddy please…” The man and bride continue to walk slowly down the aisle.

“Alright, alright, but we have to be quiet.” I nod and pretend to zip my lip and throw out the key. “When a girl gets married, it’s tradition for her dad to walk the her down the aisle. It’s to say that he trusts the man he’s giving his daughter up to.”

“Ooh…” I tap my cheek and think. “Are you going to walk me down the aisle then?”

“Someday, when the time is right and when I’m sure that the man you are going to marry is the right one for you. I can’t be giving my special girl away to just anyone now, can I?” I laugh and shake my head before thinking of another question.

This question makes me frown slightly. “What if you can’t walk me down the aisle?”

My eyes shoot open, darkness surrounding me. I’m panting, short of breath, lost, and confused. Yes, confused. I just – I don’t know what to do. Is that it? Is this what all of these dreams have been about?

‘What if you can’t walk me down the aisle?’

I don’t know. The dream stops there, and who am I to answer a question I ask myself? I want – no! – I need answers. I’m not sure what to do. Then again, I know what I want to do. At the same time I don’t know what to do. I wish my dad were here… He would tell me what to do…

Harry’s POV
I open my eyes slowly to the feel of cool fingertips running through the curly fringe over my eyes. However, I’m disappointed when the person doing so is Louis. I let out a groan and roll over to the other side of the bed and bury my face deep into the pillow.

“C’mon, Harry. You have to wake up. Today’s the day, mate,” he says. I smile at the sound of that. It’s the big day. I’m marrying the girl that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Whack!

“Fuck! Lou that hurt!” I scream and get out of bed, rubbing my back where I was whacked with a pillow. Here I was, thinking they were soft – boy was I wrong.

“Get your arse moving, Harold. Your wedding is in three hours.”

Married. Every time someone says something like that, I can’t help but put on the cheesiest smile. “I’m getting married today.”

Louis looks over at me and smiles too. “I’m happy for you man. I never though I’d see the day.”

~

“Harry, you look fine. Stop touching your bowtie,” Liam scolds me. We’re currently in a separate room in the church, getting ready and what not. I take another glance at the clock on the wall as the seconds tick by slowly. There’s only fifteen minutes left until the ceremony starts.

The door swings open, but I ignore it and continue to stare at the clock on the wall. Tick-tock; tick-tock… I hear murmured voices at the entrance of the room, but all I hear is the ticking of the clock.

“I’ve messaged and called her a million times – all of us have – but she’s not answering,” Perrie worries. I flick my head over to the crowd of people, concern taking over their faces.

“What’s going on?” I question. All heads turn to me. The room goes dead silent.

Perrie finally speaks up, “It’s, Harmony…” My heart skips a beat when I hear her name. “She hasn’t shown up yet. We’ve tried to contact her… but she hasn’t responded.”

“Weren’t you supposed to pick her up?” I ask, stumbling over a few of my words.

“We offered, but she denied.”

“Where’s Eleanor?”

“She went to look-”

The door swings open and a scared Eleanor stands there. “We have a problem…”

Notes

You have no idea how long it took me to get this right, and I still don't think it's exactly the way I want it to be. Seriously. Do you guys finally understand the dreams now? Or are you still lost? Any predictions?

@Lazylazerpants
I can't believe I just saw your comment! Thank you so much! I honestly don't think this series was that great, but if you really did enjoy it, you'll definitely enjoy my other story, Love At First Type, if you haven't read it already. You don't have to, but it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :D

So I spent the past week reading all three of these and I have to say, this was a fantastic end to a fantastic series. Great job!

@ThatRebelUnicorn
It is a compliment, I didn't know what word I should use and I thought "unusual" was the most appropriate :)
that's it! The cliffhanger was perfect though! It worked perfectly!

@Marbleskin
Still not sure if I should take "unusual stories" as a compliment, but thanks! To be completely honest, I completely agree that the ending of Listen To Your Heart was horrible, but I was kind of going for the cliff hanger thing like at the end of Catching Fire, but yeah… it sucked. I'm really glad that you liked the sequel though :D

Being honest, I was mad at the en of Listen to your heart, because to me, it wasn't a good ending. And I was so sad that it was over! Then, 2 hours ago, I realized that you wrote a sequel! I felt so stupid yet so happy!
I'm happy that you give the explanations of everything in the epilogue, what a brilliant idea! When I first read it, I was afraid that I missed it, that I could have skipped a chapter accidentally...
This sequel is amazing, you're still an amazing writer, & I truly like your other story too! Thanks for writing such good things and unusual stories!
